Decent, but James could do better
If Kevin James sticks to making these Happy Madison movies, he'll probably have many movies where he literally plays the title character, like the Eye Doctor, the Ice Cream Man, the Mud Wrestler, the Fat Man in a Little Coat or the Hotdog Eating Champion. But the funny man, once again shows here that he can do better. Attractive and talented actresses always do Happy Madison films "for some reason", Rosario Dawson (Clerks 2) is the latest but she surprisingly shines. Surprisingly, since the women characters are usually one dimensional and especially don't get to do much in an Adam Sandler movie. While Sylvester Stallone, Cher and Nick Nolte do good jobs in voice roles for animals. I'm not sure what Adam Sandler was going for with his Jewish old man voice....for a monkey though, his voice acting is awful. While despite being PG, the story is pretty adult and just about dating and the James character even gets a lot of love advice from the animals. Still, grown-ups might enjoy the film, that is if they don't put it on for their kids since a lot of the jokes are geared for adults.

Entertaining!
Just saw this and really enjoyed it! Didn't think I would like it,however, really surprised! Loved it, laughed a lot! Had only one spotthat dragged a little, but continued on to please! Yes, it was verypredictable, it's a children's movie! No deep plots or characters to bedeveloped here. Just a great laugh time, silly and light. I always lovethe music when Adam Sandler is involved too! Don't want to give toomany details about the movie itself, but lots of funny lines with allof the animals. My 13 year old son was with us and although he probablydidn't want to admit it, he was laughing too. Both me and my husbandwere laughing and really hard at the ostrich part! My eyes were tearingand I kept replaying in my mind. In this world where I am concernedabout ALL movies and I have to "IMDB" all movies to check the contentadvisory, I was pleased there wasn't anything to make me cringe. I amreally tired of all pg and pg-13 movies with way to much profanity andsex references and immodesty to try to pander to audiences to rake inmore money. Cudos to ZooKeeper!

Best Comedy Movie!!!
This review is from: Zookeeper (DVD) I love Kevin James and that I think it is way better then Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Kevin James did an amazing job in the movie and the talking animals are so adorable. I went to see this with my mom and sister for a nice birthday gift for my mom. Absolutely started laughing through the whole movie. I wanted to buy this movie when it came out but I wanted to wait until the movie went on sale. I will be watching this movie over and over again.

Great for animal lovers out there
Zookeeper falls in love with Kate instead. Catches up with her with the help of Bernie the Gorilla by piggy-backing him while he scales the Zakim bridge. Oh, and a Gorilla kicking it in a TGI Friday's is awesome! Also: Rosario Dawson needs to be on every film ever made.

Totally silly, but totally funny
The positives of the movie are many. The special effects with the animals talking and moving are terrific. Kevin James is as likeable as ever. The main female leads are attractive and interesting There are many laugh-out loud funny gags. There are a few good throwaway lines and several touching moments between the Vet and the Zookeeper. The movie is clean: it has no nudity and no bad language I can remember. The scatological humor is kept to a minimum. Since a monkey is one of the most talkative characters, scatological humor could have taken over the show. The only negatives are the plot and some of the bizarre characters. The plot is just full of holes. A person starts hearing animals talk and never seeks help? A couple of the minor characters are strange and not really funny. However, in a screwball comedy these defects are really minor. My wife enjoyed the movie immensely.

Screw the bad reviewers... This movie is funny and GREAT!
You will want to see this movie!! All the bad reviewers just likemovies like harry potter or transformers! That's all. You will love thebig gorilla and Kevin James. They are both the funniest in the wholeentire movie!!!! Just go see this movie instead of reading andlistening to the bad reviewers... They don't even like good childrenfamily funny movies. If you get hooked into all the horrible and badreviews by weird people, which you shouldn't, then you wont be able tosee a GREAT movie like this one. Also it was produced by some of thefunniest actors in the movie business,(Kevin James and Adam Sandler). This movie is probably the 1st best out there in the theaters. So gosee it!! :)

Dont Feed The Animals
Kevin James plays Griffin Keyes, an average guy in an average job. Hehas a kind heart and an above average ability to relate to the animalsin his care as the zookeeper of The Franklin Park Zoo in Boston. The film opens with Griffin breaking up with his long time girlfriendStephanie (Leslie Bibb). He weathers the disappointment and we fastforward 5 years where Griffin has now become the head zookeeper. At acelebration of his brother's upcoming wedding, Griffin spots Stephanieand his old feelings for her bubble to the surface. Lost and confusedGriffin's animal buddies come to his rescue by 1 - letting him in onthe secret that animals can communicate with humans (in English noless) and 2 - teaching him how to win the female of his species (advicethat may be better left as that - advice) Some physical humor and notso funny scenes and lines fill out the movie for the long 104 minutes.Rosario Dawson plays Kate, the obvious new love interest for Griffin.Unless you're between the ages of 8 and 12 leave this one unseen - Idon't even think it is worth the matinée price. Maybe catch it sometime when it has been "formatted to fit this screen" and "shortened tofit in the time allotted".

Very cute movie!!!
I'm not sure why this movie got a 3 out of 10 and neither does my 13year old daughter who can be the biggest critic of them all. It was avery cute movie that was funny and goofy and just down rightentertaining. Made me remember we all need to laugh and be silly moreoften than we do. OK so I like goofy movies but I like the shoot 'emand kill 'em and gory ones too. The movies are about entertaining andforgetting the REAL life crap we deal with on a day to day basic. Verymuch well worth the cost to see. I feel a little more light heartedthat I took the chance and didn't go by the 3 stars and read thereviews instead. I was not disappointed. By the way, it does say PG soyes it's aimed at kids.

This is the dumbest movie i have seen so far in 2011. I wasted my timeand money. If anyone of you really want to kill some time do anythingelse in the world but to watch this movie.I wasn't expecting such a crap from Kevin James. My advice to LesliBib, Please quit Hollywood. you are better off in modeling. I am notgoing to any Kevin James movie anymore.i can give you details of why this movie was so bad but i really don'twanna waste any more time on this disaster movie.Simply GARBAGE.....My Advice AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS.

worst movie of the year!
my ten year old daughter loves animals so this one at first glanceappeared to be her cup of tea, but fifteen minutes into the film shesaid rather convincingly, "dad, this movie is stupid." yeah. nokidding. this zoo keeper could not stand erect for more than tenminutes at a time, the other characters in the film were totallyabsurd, and even the animals could not save it.after seeing Mr. poppers penguins skillfully employ a similar themeline this one fell flatter than an IHOP pancake. gotta be the worstfilm either of us has seen in several years.and they invested 80 million bucks into this bomb? wow. avoid this stinker at all costs.

Throw poop at her
ZOOKEEPER (2011) with the silent-era-style charming Kevin James and the beautiful Rosario Dawson is a charming family comedy. Firstly, I am a sucker for zoo-themed films. If you can get past the ugly Madagascar (Full Screen Edition) taste this leaves in your mouth, you're home free!Kevin plays a lonely zookeeper who is in love with the wrongest of the wrong woman. When the animals decide to talk to him - they can all talk, people simply cannot handle it so they keep quiet, but they love him and want to help - well, what do you think will happen? As usual with Kevin's films (I've only ever seen him in Paul Blart: Mall Cop which I loved), there were many missed cues in this. Opportunities to go for the big laugh fell flat or were bypassed. I can't tell if it is Kevin's humor or bad directing; it simply confuses. Rosario Dawson, aside from being gorgeous and talented, may be the funniest element in the film. However, I admire any comic who reminds me of the Immortal Master Buster Keaton - and Kevin James is like that. Here, as in BLART, he goes for the not-so-obvious sight gag, the pratfall when it is least convenient, and the surprising spring to action. Done perfectly, that is the highest art of comedy. Kevin does have a ways to go, but he tries. With the vocal talents of the likes of Nick Nolte, Sylvester Stallone, Adam Sandler (whom I despise), and others, you will not want for laughs or silliness. (Taking a male silverback gorilla to TGIF for dinner?! - and what does he order but 30 oranges!)But then, who could do that nowadays other than Kevin James?

Goof-ball romantic comedy.
Griffin(Kevin James)is a keeper at a zoo like no other. He is sopopular with the critters big and small, they feel his agony of notbeing noticed by a beautiful woman, Stephanie(Leslie Bibb). Griffin issmitten, but realizes the object of his desire is way out of hisleague. Trying to ease his desperate disposition, co-workerKate(Rosario Dawson)volunteers to help Griffin get his girl. Theanimals that Griffin sees everyday break a code of silence...yep...theybegin talking, giving him advice on how to get Stephanie's attention.Goofy and bit sappy. Then there is the physical comedy of James tolaugh at. This may not be your "cup of tea", but a great soundtrackfeaturing Earth, Wind & Fire, Kansas, Toto, Barry White and Motley Cruekeeps this romantic comedy progressing. Not really being a Kevin Jamesfan, my favorite part of the movie is when the final credits roll to"More Than a Feeling" by Boston. There may be some voices you'llrecognize coming from the zoo animals: Nick Nolte, Sly Stallone, Cher,Don Rickles and Adam Sandler. Others in the cast: Donnie Wahlberg, JoeRogan, Stephlana De La Cruz and Robin Bakay.

good comedy
This review is from: Zookeeper (DVD) Decent plot and story line. I think he makes the right choice in the end. a good presentation make you believe the animals are really talking. Job well done.

Same old formula talking animals - sooooo cute.
Dumb, stereotypic juvenile talking animal humor for adults (or juvenile adults depending upon point-of-view). Same recycled multiple times storyline of loser lover finding himself (with the help of the animals of course) and gets the girl some girl in the end. NOTHING imaginative in the writing, acting or whatever. Overspent valuable time even writing this much. Good fit with Horrible Bosses. Some naturalists believe that the cute zoo animal syndrome is actually contributing to species extinction by humans because they don't look so cute in nature thus who cares.

Dr Dolittle should have put a few down....
Paul Blart lands a job as a zookeeper, but his love life is paying forit. His girlfriend rejects his proposal, and leaves him full ofdisdain.Years later, he bumps into her and as a last ditch attempt to get herback, he contemplates leaving his zoo for a better job.Did someone say talking animals? Wheres Jerry Stiller?....It's not as bad as what most critics say, but it's still a bit of amongrel. It's not James fault, he is always endearing in anything i'veseen him in, and he has great chemistry with the cast. It's the lousy writing and a poor attempt at a crudish 'see how far wecan push the ratings' Dr. Dolittle. It doesn't have any funny lines in this film at all. And yes, whenJames gets hit once, my daughter laughed. After a few repeats of this, even she was looking for more Nick Nolte, who saves the film by doingwhat the film should do. Giving the animals that little human edge.Stallone and Cher are okay, but all they do is argue with each other, and it becomes annoying after a while. So all in all, it's not a bad film, but it could have been so muchmore, and Sandler should have known this and given more input.

Zookeeper
This review is from: Zookeeper (DVD) It's good fun to look with family. No violence etc. Not any movie you tell everyone you meet , but worth the price.
