Plot Summary:
Simba and Nala have a daughter, Kiara. Timon and Pumbaa are assigned to be her babysitters, but she easily escapes their care and ventures into the forbidden lands. There she meets a lion cub named Kovu and they become friends. What she and her parents do not know is that Kovu is the son of Zira - a banished follower of the now-dead Scar. She plans to raise Kovu to overthrow Simba and become the king of the Pride Lands. This tests not only Kiara and Kovus relationship as they mature, but Simbas relationship with his daughter.

For the Most Part, a Worthy Continuation of the Epic
Though there are TLK fans who have condemned this film, for things likemissing scenes (which were developed as far as basic animation), Timon andPumbaa being used a little too much, and one song (Upendi) that doesn'treally work beyond its basic plot function, I am not one of them. I thinkSimba's Pride, while recognising its flaws, is a superb film about lettinggo the past and various aspects of love, both positive and negative. Thecharacters are as compelling as ever, both old and new, whether it is Simbawho still bears the scars of the previous film, Kovu, a young lion who isindoctrinated into being Simba's would-be killer and usurper, Zira, the mainvillain whose love for her lost Scar corrupted her into a diabolicalvendetta vs. Simba and Kiara, the daughter of Simba who has an importantdestiny of her own. While the people may quibble about the plot which necessitates an importantcharacter changing his way quickly, it is still enjoyable with superbcharacters and at least one great theme song (We are One). Furthermore, once you get through the weakest point of the film with the song sequence,Upendi, the last half hour more than makes the preceding plot and characterdevelopment worthwhile. It is a pay-off that in dialogue and two movingsongs has all the emotional power of the original while still keeping itsown identity and theme. If you liked Lion King, then watch this with anopen and patient mind and this film will not disappoint!

good but not as good as the first
This is not as good as the first. the story starts with the celebration of kiara's birth. then one morning kiara goes to play in the Pride Lands. she promises Simba that she will not leave the Pride Lands, But Simba doesn't think that she will keep her promise so he sends Timon and Pumbaa to watch her. But they lose her and she runs of into the outlands. there she meets Kovu another young lion cub. But what she doesn't know is that Kovu is Scars hand chosen son. But I don't want to spoil the whole movie. so If you want to find out what happens you should watch the movie yourself.

Its OKAY, but it does have holes.......
The Lion King 2 is a decent movie in its own right, but it has quite a few problems that make it only an average movie, and not NEARLY as good as the original.Well first yo have the villains. Why would anyone support Scar's cause? I mean, he wanted to take the throne from Mufasa because he is jealous, why would anyone support that? Besides, in Lion King 1, the hyenas told Scar that the lionesses were NOT listening to Scar's orders to hunt. It is rather sily therefore that the villians are these Lions. The rest of the movie was ok, the animation was decent, the plot was still an okay plot, and they got most of the voices back, but you feel like this is a missed oppurtunity. The music was somewhat entertaining, but I feel like this movie could have been a lot better. I say the best part of the movie, was Kiara and Kovu's love song.Overall the movie is a decent movie, but it does not live up to the original, and as I mentioned the plot has holes.

One of the better Disney sequels
The Lion King was one of the best movies I've ever seen. I was just asix-year-old when Simba's Pride came out, so I was initially overjoyed. After watching it, I was happy with it, since anything featuring Timon andPumbaa was perfect in my book. Now, I review it with an unbiased eye. The Lion King II: Simba's Pride isn't really about Simba at all: it's abouthis daughter Kiara. Kiara is just as adventurous as the young Simba, butSimba is even more overprotective than Mufasa. Kiara disobeys Simba'sparanoid rules and ventures into the Outlands, where exiled lions whosupported Scar now dwell, including his wife, Zeera. There she meets a youngcub called Kovu, and the two hit it off and escape from crocodiles into thesafety of the Pridelands, where Simba and Zeera find them. Back home, Zeeraberates Kovu for trying to befriend Kiara, but discovers that it is a greatplan: she trains Kovu to kill Scar and become king, doing so by winningKiara's affections, and so getting an opportunity to isolate Simba and killhim. As an adolescent, Kovu faithfully carries out the plan, having gotteninto Kiara's good books, but unexpectedly and accidentally having gotten herinto his.The story is, I have to admit, really good. Zeera's devious plot is just asgood (if not better) than Scar's in The Lion King. However, the movie is toosentimental, and Kovu falls in love with Kiara IN A DAY. It was much toofast--and much too smooth--to make it totally believable. In the firstmovie, Simba and Nala have some serious spats. Kiara and Kovu just go offwithout a hitch. The climax is really good. Most of the plot elements workin its favor. The story is unusual, with lots of sad things happening, moreso than the more typical Disney The Lion King. One thing that works heavilyagainst the movie is the all-too-brief appearances of the duo of Timon andPumbaa and Zazu. The movie doesn't lack comedy, it just needs to get more ofit from Timon & Pumbaa. You must understand that this was never going to fetch as big a profit asThe Lion King, as Simba's Pride was only released on video. Therefore, theanimation isn't as lavish and immaculate as in the theatrically releasedpredecessor. The detail in the manes, the attention given each blade ofgrass, is absent. Nevertheless, the animation is very good. It's smooth, butagain, just a peg below The Lion King. The artistry on the whole isexcellent. The Lion King: Simba's Pride is one of the more inspired Disney sequels. But, yet again, it pales (just a bit) in comparison to its successor. Thesesequels are financially efficient, but Disney would not approve. As Waltsaid, money is not an object. In the years to come, in the end, quality willmake or break a movie, not how much money it cost. Art cannot be cheap if itis to be as good as it can be.7.25/10

GOOD
This movie was good but it didn't have the same brilliant animation as the first one. I was quite disapointed when I first watched it. The first time I watched it I got bored with the songs and the characters. Kiara is far too bubbly and air-headed to be a queen yet everyone loves her. Kovu, even after years of evil training suddenly turns good due to the annoying presence of Kiara and her overprotective father. I thought Simba was way too strict with his daughter, even when she was an adult. Zira was an idiot, waiting all those years to TRY and kill Simba (not that I wanted Simba to die) Why didn't she just DO IT ALREADY!!! Timon and Pumbaa were irritating, not even clever enough to control a little termite like Kiara. Rafiki was being another BIG help to a new generation by helping Kiara and Kovu see the light of their feelings for each other.Naturally Kiara and Kovu save the day, with Kiara talking some sense to her father's clouded brain. The lions all roar in the end to honour Kiara, the bad hunter and pest, Kovu, the guy who changed his mind about evil, Simba, the lion who had some sense knocked into him AGAIN (for a king he's not very smart) and Nala, the one who didn't really care at all about anything. What great rulers.

Movie too dark for the children Disney targets
I purchased the movie for my young children and was so disappointed, I returned it with my complaints. My children were frightened by the weird characters and loud conflicts. Plus the storyline was not redeeming; children can learn these "lessons" without being frightened. Regardless of Disney's marketing on TV during preschool shows, parents of young children should beware--I think there are much wiser selections.

Lion King II Simbas Pride
I just watched this movie last week on The Disney Channel, and could nothelp but feel that this was a lost opportunity for Disney. When I sat downto watch it I expected the same type of straight-to-video animation thatthey used in Aladdin II: Return Of Jafar, but I was wrong. The animationwasalmost as good as the original. I believe Disney could have made a lot moremoney from this if they had given it a theatrical release.

Sad....
*SPOILERS!* I tried so hard to like this movie when I watched it thisafternoon. I thought it was horrible the first time I watched it, and havebeen scared to try again since. The whole movie is a carbon copy of thefirst. Being as I memorized The Lion King when I was little, there weremanyMANY lines ripped off from it. The writers are so unoriginal, they couldn'teven manage to come up with much new material. And too bad they alsoneglected the characters we originally fell in love with, shunning Nala andZazu to a few lines (though the new voice of Zazu made me cringe, anyway)along with turning Simba into an overbearing, neurotic mess of a father.Therelationship between Kovu and Kiara is cute, but not much else. They bothhave a certain 'code' for remembering each other in the future ("What areyoudoing?") just like Simba and Nala had (she would pin him to the ground.)They had an extremely silly 'romantic' rendezvous with annoying music, justlike Simba and Nala had "Can't You Feel The Love Tonight." Of course, muchmore is ripped off, too, like the 'big fight' at the end, a stampede (sad, sad, SAD), Kiara stumbling into trouble with Kovu, Simba finding her andgetting mad, talking to her under the stars the SAME WAY with some of theSAME DIALOGUE as the first movie! And, of course, there is a gross bugeating scene from Timon and Pumbaa, with Kiara even sneering and leering,"Ewww GROSS!" much in the same way as Jonathan Taylor Thomas did, andcheesyknock off of the beginning 'presentation of Simba' sequence. There is more.A lot more. It makes me want to cry. Disney's greed inspires such throwntogether messes as this, knowing suckers like us will want to see acontinuation of our favorite classics, only to have our jaws drop inhorror.I'm very scared to see what they do to my other all time favorite,"Hunchback of Notre Dame" in it's straight to video, and straight to theirpockets sequel!

Not as good as the first one.
The movie was definately captivating to younger children. My younger brothers and sisters really enjoyed it. I myself though being 14 thought it was boring. After seeing the first movie all sequals are dumb. You can always predict what is going to happen. Now if Simba had a son instead of a daughter it might have been better!!

Well, I guess its ok....
I've never really liked Disney sequels (ie, Peter Pan 2, Pocahontas 2, Little Mermaid 2, etc...), but this one is an exception. The story follows the adventures of Simba's daughter, Kiara. All she wants to do is explore the Pride Lands unsupervised, but her father fears for her safety. One morning little Kiara goes wandering off too far, ends up in the forbidden "Out Lands", and meets another young cub named Kovu. They become great friends against Simba's and Zera's (Kovu's mom's) wishes. It's pretty much a total conflict between the Pride Landers and the Outsiders, ending up with Kiara and Kovu having to solve the problem. The story isn't too bad, but Disney sequels can always use some improvement, as usual. My sister and I still have fun pretending to be Kiara and Kovu. And the animation isn't top notch, but it's good. To round it all out, I think the kids will probably enjoy it. Go ahead and give it a try, but I can't promise you that you'll like it. Me and my sis have always enjoyed it ever since we bought it though, so I'm sure somebody in the family will love it. :)

Disney as done it again, Simbas Pride is wonderful!!
I was shocked with how much I enjoyed this sequel. I especially thought that the voice talent was exceptional. The actress who did the young Kiara (Michelle Horn) captured the spirit of a rebellious young princess perfectly. My whole family has watched Simba's Pride over and over again.

Disneys Best!!!
I don't care if Shrek 2 is now the biggest grossing animated film of all time. Both The Lion King and Lion King 2: Simba's Pride are my favorite Disney movies of all time. All I have to say to anybody is WATCH, you'll like it, need I say more!!!

Simbas Pride, a bland taste for fans of the fandom.
As I was watching this movie back in 1998, something didn't feel quiteright about it. It wasn't as uplifting as the original, and it seems asthough the artwork didn't quite come up to par. Also, if one paysattention carefully, the re-release of Simba's Pride on DVD has anerror where Kiara and Kovu are in water escaping the crocodiles, and asKiara sits upon the rock, the animation cell was left in theforeground, showing Kiara's paw without the details. (Her paw wassupposed to sit behind the rock, as it was in the old version.) Still, the theme is interesting, but some of the jokes get old. As much of aLion King fan as I am, this movie will only appeal to the kids.

Lion King 2...Not good
This review is from: The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride (Two-Disc Special Edition) (DVD) This was a "like new" video. Was aweful. Kept skipping and 'freezing' .....my daughter cried because she was so excited to see this movie. Never again.

Its all right I guess....
I liked the first one better and when I saw this one, I wasn't too impressed. I mean, it's O.K. but I think they could've done better. In my opinion, I don't think the songs are THAT great, and Kiara has a "girly" personality. Zira is nothing like Scar, and she wasn't even mentioned in the first movie and neither were the Outlanders. Nuka is a TOTAL KLUTZ and I don't even want to start on Zazu. The only character I liked in this movie was Vitani. (really cool) Kovu is a total insult to the movie, and he is NOTHING like Scar. Don't waste your time on this movie and find something else to watch. The only 2 songs that are "good" are "Love will find away" and "We are One". Zira's song "My Lullaby" isn't is good as Scar's "Be Prepared." If you want to see this sequel, go right ahead. I mean, it's OKAY . It's not the BEST Movie in the world.

This film is a disgrace to the first...
The Lion King was a truly heart breaking story. A young lion cub loseshis father at the hands of his evil uncle and to escape, he runs fromeverything he's ever known, in order to try and forget that event heclaims to be his fault. That film had so many morals to it, the voiceacting, I thought was spectacular, and I think anyone of any age isaffected in one was or another by it.The Lion King 2 is a disgrace. It follows the overly-used Romeo andJuliet story line, the script is appalling, everything that comes outof Kiara's mouth is cheesy and speaking of which, the actress whovoices her had the most irritating voice in the world, especially whenshe laughs at the end of every sentence. I think if you're a youngchild who will settle for anything, this film would be acceptable, however, I will never be watching this again and Disney aught to beashamed of themselves.
