Wow this is so entertaining!
This film is about a girl with magical powers, who has to stay in atower for her own protection. One day, the tiny world she knows isturned upside down when an intruder enters her tower.I knew "Tangled" would be sweet and happy as it is a Disney film, butstill it surpassed all my saccharine expectations. The characters areso adorable, even the minor supporting characters such as the cleverchameleon and dog-like horse. Some of the plot is delivered by songs, which adds to the merry atmosphere. There are so many really funnyjokes for all ages, basically the whole film made us laugh hard!"Tangled" is a great animation, with a sweet story and is veryentertaining.

This is straight-ahead Disney, and none of the creative talent really gets to let their hair down.

Not your typical waste of time kids movie!!!
Took my 7 and 8 year old to see this movie the other night, I hadn'theard or seen much about it other than the movie previews played beforeall the other recent kids movies we've seen (which is about ALL ofthem!). I usually walk out of these movies with the feeling, whatever, the kids sort of liked it, it wasn't horrible, but could have beendoing something else, etc.... Wasn't expecting too much from this oneeither but.... WOW!!!!!! This movie was one of the absolute best I'veseen in quite some time. The animation and 3D was amazing!!! My kidsloved the movie, and I loved the movie! An unbelievable 8.5 out of 10(so I rounded up and gave it a 9!). The only recent (at least 3 years)kids movie I even consider this good was Toy Story 3, which had abetter storyline but not as good animation/3D.

The film lacks any soul or purpose, much like a Jersey Shore castmember. But unlike a Jersey Shore castmember, it's incapable of punching people in the face at random for your entertainment.

My kids love it.
Even though it is a "princess" film, my two boys (5 and 2) absolutly love it. They have watched it at least a dozen times in the last week.

A surprising take on Rapunzel
When I saw a trailer for this movie, I had the overwhelming feeling that I would really like it. Sometimes, when you see movie trailers, the movie will look good, but, you end up being disappointed after you see it. That wasn't the case, for me, with this movie. The characters were very colorful and full of life. It was an interesting, humorous take on the classic story of Rapunzel. It is also obvious from the DVD cover picture that it had the kind of humor that I love.

There are no unnecessary pop references here, just fluid, graceful storytelling.

Very good Disney movie
This Disney movie will make it in the ranks with the classics likebeauty and the beast, aladdin and the lion king. It is a movie thatkids should grow up seeing and believing that life really is that good.My sister loved it so much she sings it all the time and she is only 3years old! It has become her favorite movie and I know she has learnedgood things from it. This is her singing to it. It can help to create aroll model for kids and can teach them about never giving up on yourdreams and about how the world really can be a beautiful place eventhough there is still bad. here is a video of my sister singing one ofthe best songs from the movie. ain't she adorable?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOUQUdZrmpg

Its awesome ok!!
Well many people think that the "gay bar" is revolting but they just need to fix their heads. It's a scene showing that not all men are alike. The men are wanting to follow their dreams!! Come on really it's not revolting. Has Disney pumped out better movies yes but rapunzel's story isn't all that exciting. They have made it MUCH better than the story books. I personally think that it's a good movie to take your kids too because it shows them that if you follow your dreams they take you places and you meet people that you'll never forget. Forget all those other bad reviews those people are just jealous because they didn't think of the idea to make the movie themselves!!!!

Disney movie with the Pixar magic
Tangled is the retelling of the fairy tale Rapunzel and has the typicalDisney treatment. All the characters even look stock Disney except forone major difference, this movie is in 3D. And, boy what a differencethat makes. Each character exhibits the entire spectrum of faces andemotions, the visuals are amazing and the use of lighting makes forsome really astounding visuals.Who really steals the show is the horse Maximus. He doesn't say a wordbut he's funny, sympathetic, brave, noble and heroic all with justphysical expressions. The other characters are equally well done. Ireally think this movie marks a significant achievement in Disney'sanimation and makes me excited about Disney movies in a long time. Ihighly recommend this movie to see the Disney magic done right.

A New Classic From Disney
I was SO surprised...Disney did everything right in this film!I thought I was taking my childen to see one of the modern, dumbed down, full of stupid jokes movies, based on the trailer, just OK for a rainy day. What we got instead was a visually stunning film with Broadway-style songs, depth of character, excitement and humor. The lantern scene was pure Disney magic. Other scenes were just as engaging, from the dam to the village festival. Completely charming. This is the best Disney film since the era of "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Lion King". I can easily see it going the Broadway route as those did. Well worth the movie ticket price. Both kids, a boy 8 and a girl 4, loved it too! Way to go Disney...keep making them like THIS.

A fine example of new-age Disney
This review is from: Tangled (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo) (Blu-ray) I grew up in the 90s, with The Lion King and Toy Story representing the pinnacle of Disney animation--the pinnacle of animation period, from any studio. With the pool crowding, however, Disney has had trouble since I've been a kid. Shrek took over; Kung-Fu Panda; Ice Age. Sure, Disney has been a major presence throughout, but it's had to put up with some stiff competition the past 10-15 years. For the record: I'm aware that there's always been competition. My point is, that for someone such as myself, Disney has always come first; no-one else could top them, even if movies from other companies make good money and get good reviews too. With these others I've listed, that has changed a little bit as I've aged. Plus I've paid less attention to so-called "kids movies", so the significance of Disney, to me personally, has waned. With Tangled, however, Disney seems to have finally found its footing in this modern era. Wall-E and other recent Disney flicks have proven themselves capable of holding their own, but the difference with Tangled--and what makes it so significant to me--is the general storyline of a princess rather than a robot or a pack of anthropomorphic automobiles. Lion King had this to an extent (although it was a Prince/King); Toy Story didn't have this, although the story illustrated the fact that CG animation could elicit genuine emotion. Tangled, although perhaps not as memorable as either of these favorites of mine (time, as they say, will only tell) but it marks a major return to form for the king of animation. Unlike other "kids" movies, Tangled--which is full of humor, drama, and character growth--does not incorporate inappropriate humor to attract adult audiences. Rather, Tangled's humor, despite the fact that the movie is aimed at a younger audience, is genuine enough that it doesn't _have_ to have kid-proof adult-humor (ie: kids see and hear it, but probably don't understand the double entendre) to attract adult audiences. That's what I love about this movie--it's funny without resorting to low-brow inappropriate humor. No, I'm not some angry parent who hates Shrek for its gross-out raunchiness (I in fact enjoy Shrek quite a bit); I just appreciate good, classic funny and Tangled has a plenty of it. Rather than take the easy way out, the writers and animators have done a wonderful job of making the comedy work. The dialogue is fine, but what really stands out is the character "acting". The horse, Maximus, is especially well "acted". His facial expressions and body language (that of another animal altogether, which is for some reason very hilarious) fit perfectly with every situation in which he finds himself. Pascal, Rapunzel's pet chameleon, also expresses himself very efficiently without having a line of dialogue in the film. As surprisingly good as Mandy Moore's voice acting is, the animated acting of Rapunzel herself is amazing. With just a look, a turn of the head, the way she walks, you know exactly what she's thinking. It's truly wonderful. Besides, the gags are all really funny too, without being raunchy. For instance, in one scene Maximus is hidden behind a peculiarly shaped and mossed-up rock, with a tree-branch conspicuously bent down--all of this with the effect of looking like a horse. All the sudden, Maximus jumps out from this situation. It may not sound funny on the page--and as I look at what I just wrote, I'm a bit unconvinced myself--but to actually see it is something else entirely. I was laughing when I saw it in the theater, along with my 35 year old aunt, 13 year old sister, and my 8 and 4 year old cousins. Pardon my random musings on this movie. I realize that it's not an in depth review, but as usual with any reviews I decide to make, I'm writing this for people like me, people who remember the Disney of _their_ childhood (not necessarily the "classic" Disney; Snow White, Pinocchio, etc); for the people who don't think Disney matters any more. It's like we've all grown up now, and no one bothers to watch a movie if it's not violent or R-rated. It's not gritty, it's not a representation of the real-world. It's a fantasy, a fairy tale, and so on. But so what? Who says that movies have to be that way to be deemed worthy of viewing? Tangled may be a "kids movie", but I like it quite a bit. I give it 5 stars not because I think it's a game-changing movie, not because I think it's perfect, or anything like that. Rather, it's a great "kids movies" that anyone and everyone can watch without feeling out of place. It's entertaining throughout, and that's what I look for in any movie.

Best animated movie with best effects and quality in the world
As in my view, Tangled is the best animated movie with best effects andquality in the world. It's story is great too. It's very funny at thestart and with time it becomes a sad story, honestly I loved it. Disneyis just proved what they can do and how they deal with latesttechnologies using at animated movies. Thumbs up. Waiting for TangledBluray disc. I would buy it even it over than $500.Finally, Thanks Disney for making a such a great movie. Hope you willmake more nice animated movies as soon as possible.I would recommend this movie to anyone with any range of age withouthesitate. Everything at this movie is just-great. Feels we are in thatlocation and we are a character of that movie. My rating 10/10 (If I could give 100+/10 I would do it too) BestAnimated film at all time ! Thank you for all

As well as driving the story, the themes of loyalty and trust also give the script its richest vein of humour.

Enthusiasm made me overlook 3D requirements...
This review is from: Tangled (Four-Disc Combo: Blu-ray 3D / Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) I -love- this movie, I would give it 7 stars if I could. It's such a wonderful refreshing tale with fun characters, beautiful art, great soundtrack, memorable songs...However, maybe I'm not as detail-oriented as I think I am -- I took off a star for the DVD package because I don't see anything in the product description page that mentions the requirement to have a 3D TV and 3D blu-ray player. =(I was SO excited to get this and watch it at home, but I didn't understand that I needed more than 3D glasses. I have other (granted, slightly older, but still) 3D movies that don't require special players! So bummed. I saw it in 3D in the theaters and it was -amazing-. AMAZING. Now I'm going to have to wait until I find a friend who has a 3D blu-ray and 3D TV.... a quest!Edit: Since it's not apparently obvious to other readers, yes, I can watch the online copy, DVD copy, and blu-ray copy (3 of 4 discs). However, since I don't have a 3D TV and 3D blu-ray player, I can't watch the 3D copy. I'm disappointed I can't watch the 3D blu-ray copy. I'm warning other potential buyers who think that they may be able to watch the 3D copy on their regular TVs and regular blu-ray players as a result of this equipment not being mentioned on the product page, and may be equally disappointed.I'm satisfied with the regular blu-ray copy. I also am fully capable of sticking DVDs into the machine! I can also tie my shoes and brush my teeth! Yay!

Why is it that Tangled previously called Rapunzel managed to do a business of 21.6+ million (figure taken from IMDb) in such a competitive environment?
Why is it that "Tangled" previously called "Rapunzel" managed to do abusiness of $21.6+ million (*figure taken from IMDb*) in such acompetitive environment? Most of us had our hopes on the latest epic ofHarry Potter series "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows" whichdespite having an advantage managed only a $17 million business. Thereare several reasons why Tangled became an epic piece. Firstly theintroduction of Disney's new application of CGI (computer generatedimagery) was a major advantage for the movie. This technology actuallyhelped in creating a more powerful and discrete 3D imagery. PreviouslyDisney used hand drawn animation which although was a success in the80s but failed to fulfill the standards in the movie "The princess andthe Frog" which was released earlier.Another reason for Tangled being a huge success was the characters ithad. The storyline although changed from the original "Rapunzel" wasmuch more purified and gained an insight to a much more comedicentertainment. (Mandy Moore) did a great job with her characterRapunzel and so did the rogue Flynn Ryder (Zachary Levi) whom we knowfrom the great comedy serial "Chuck". But most importantly the elementthat made this animation a real success was the direction and thestoryline. The movie captured the attention of the audience from thevery start and kept on increasing its grasp with a great climax andfinally towards the end captured the complete insight of everyone. It'ssafe to say that although these are old stories but a little moldingcan be a great success for animated movies in the future. If you want to have fun these holidays and really want to have the bestthen I recommend watching "Tangled" because it's worth it.http://bloggiesinc.com/2010/12/11/tangled-a-huge-success/

The Mouse House has slain the two-headed dragon of Snark and Sarcasm, overthrown the Ogre of Unoriginality and stormed the castle of Children's Dreams! O.K., that last one sounds kind of creepy, but fear not, Disney's intentions are pure and just.

The tale of Rapunzel gets a cheeky make-over in this gorgeous Disney animation, which combines the studio's traditional hand-drawn look with the sculptural qualities of digital 3D.

Even this late, the first genuine adult laugh-out-loud film of the year!
A few years ago the technical wizardry of SHREK trumped the superiorstory telling of MONSTERS, INC. at the Oscars, and this may be one ofthose years. Early buzz has the wistful mixed bag TOY STORY 3 with alock with Oscar voters who long for their lost childhood despite themonstrous children they show in that film, but the FAR more enjoyableexperience, while still not without flaws of pacing, is Disney'sdeliriously enjoyable semi-musical (wonderful even if surprisinglyunobtrusive score by Alan Menken) rethinking of the old Rapunzellegend, TANGLED.The funny and yes, actually sexy animated leading man and his innocentbut capable leading lady anchor a near perfect animated cast. Thecavalry horse Maximus who starts as the hero's chief nemesis and windsup his best ally is a brilliant comic creation nearly matched byRapunzel's faux "mother," a 21st century version of the classic wickedwitch. While some of the most popular recent animated features havegenerated major and minor sequels, this is the first animated film inmy experience where I'd love to see these animated characters AS DRAWNand VOICED reused in other, not necessarily related properties as ifthey were real actors. They're so much fun to spend time with, you wantto spend more. If Disney had the good sense to try an animated versionof George Bernard Shaw's perennial success ARMS AND THE MAN with thesame animated cast they've already developed, I'd be willing to bet itwould be just as big a hit.Great cast, but also a great story told with amazing freshness andinsouciance. By elaborating on the well known story of the maid in thetower to create a classic quest to center their refurbished storyaround, the film makers also opened the door to a dazzling array offresh comic touches (I'm with Flynn - "I gotta get me one of these!" -in loving the possibilities of the rediscovered old kitchen and comicstandby, the cast iron skillet) and amusingly twisted sub-characters(yes, even one momentarily covered with the comic rodents that havebeen a Disney good luck talisman for years) with "dreams" similar tobut different from Rapunzel's and thus touched on something universalin all of us. We all have dreams that seem unrealistic, but withdetermination and faith may not be. TANGLED has its heart firmly in theright place as pure entertainment so that it's only afterward that werealize how strongly it was encouraging us in the audience to followour own dreams, but the joy and the beauty that washes over us whilewatching it remains with us to inspire long after the credits (which, sad to relate, are the one unimaginatively filmed part of the movie andeasily missed) roll.Of course the more and more ubiquitous new 3D system works beautifullyand makes the motion picture experience more than it will inevitably beon the small screen, but the story telling is so good, that when theDVD inevitably comes out, it is one which will have to be on my shelvesfor regular reviewing whether or not we have 3D technology on our homescreens yet. When the "previews" are as good as TANGLED's, you usually think theymust have pulled ALL the best parts, but this is one case where a filmlives up to it's hype. It really is one of the few "must sees" of apretty good year at the movies. (Sadly, as of January 25, 2011, itappears my prognostication re. TOY STORY 3 was prescient: the Academychose to only nominate THREE animated films - including the inferior"How To Train Your Dragon" as "Best..." - in the apparent fear thatTANGLED might actually beat TOY STORY 3 as it has at the box office.Inexcusable.)
