Good 3D
This review is from: Step Up 3 (Three-Disc Combo: Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) Very good use of 3D, the dance moves were outstand and the AAA+ 3D made you feel like you are in the middle of it all. Outstanding depth thruout the movie.

not satisfied...
This review is from: Step Up 3 (Three-Disc Combo: Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) Packaging is good...at least using the envelop. However, the item has a broken case. I always received broken/damaged package of the unit.... so disappointed...For the movie, a 3-7seconds part has a blurred / distorted images (Moose and his GF were dancing in the street)...

the Magic Coat Trick!
1st let me say that when it comes 2 Dancing, this Movie is the Bestyet. That said, lets look a bit closer....Have a good look @ Julien (Joe Slaughter), the leader of the House ofSamurai when they do there Crunk scene during the Final Battle. Tellme, How many times do you C him Magically take his coat of and onduring that +/- 50 second scene? ;)........Also a small mystery, in the beginning (38,54 min.) Natalie (SharniVinson) tells Luke (Rick Malambri) that she was raised by her BrotherJulien, However later on in the movie (50,37 min.) Luke tells Nataliethat Julien was his Bets friend for Years! And they never knew fromeach other, or seen a picture @ the house or something?? And just a daybefore the Final Battle (80,34 min.) Luke receives a text from Carlos, asking him to meet outside in 5 min., But he left the House of Piratesearlier (64,16 min.), so how did he know where 2 find Luke in theretemporary Practise Space @ the Carnaval??.... Another Mystery; IfNatalie (Sharni Vinson) leaves the House of Pirates before the FinalBattle, because of her Brother (54 min.), then how did she learn thechoreography of the Final Lights Dance off??? Cause she is up front onthe right dancing with the lights on.... (90,35 min.) Just a thought ofcourse.... ;)

Sickest Dance Moves Yet!!
The movie is mainly for dancing entertainment and it delivers JUST THAT!!!!!The story is not half bad. If you're into rhythm and music you can't miss this one!!!

Terrible, just terrible
This is a completely rubbish film from start to finish and I'll explainwhy without spoiling anything (not that there is anything to spoil).Firstly lets start with the good (will be quick) the acting is amongstthe worst I've ever seen in a film, literally, it's a range of peopleprobably genuinely from a street life style and upper-class people whoknow how to dance street (despite the fact street dance is meant to bea representation of your life-style and culture) and there are alsoother dance styles in there too - but to be honest that is the onlyreasonably entertaining thing about the movie and that's only due tochoreography and over-dramatic scenes, now to the bad (grab a coffee).Let's first start with the story, well there isn't much of one it'sbasically an excuse to start dancing nothing more, if you want a decentdance themed movie with a reasonable story and decent acting you shouldlook at save the last dance. Now onto the directing, editing andgeneral theme; it's bad, It's like the creators got together and said"let's make a movie based version of Britain's got talent with only thedancing parts and more dramatic" and took it from there. Now the acting(if you can call it that) is just terrible, now I know some people aresaying to themselves "hey we're not watching this for the acting etc, just wanna see some dancing" well if that's the case the go to a danceshow because that's all this movie is but more glam and dramatic.Acting generally makes a film, obviously directing etc comes into playbut usually if the acting is terrible then so is the film, and that'sexactly what this film is - the even funnier thing about this film theytry too hard to make dancing seem like a mysterious force that isessential and way of life which leads you into wisdom etc yeah right!it's an art-form, an expression etc but that's it. I could literallymoan about this film until I'm blue in the face but I will stop now andlet you judge, and if you have a few brain cells you'll just learn frommy experience and pass on this film because it's simply crap.

Just Plain Bad
Pure Trash. People who liked this film shouldn't even go see movies. You're thereason why crap like this makes tons of money while other films thatactually have meaning and an interesting story filled with actuallywell written characters suffer at the box office. Anyone who liked thishas no right to watch movies. At all. I mean I get a movie beingentertaining but it should entertain through the story andcharacters....not through a crappy plot with horrible acting and"flashy" dance moves...and the 3D was just a cheap attempt to get morecash. Screw this movie and anyone who liked it.

Fun, enjoyable movie.. great 3D Blu-Ray
I've never seen Step Up or Step Up 2, but the 3D selling point got me to give this one a shot.. and I wasn't disappointed! The story isn't the greatest, and with a title like "Step Up 3D", you don't really expect it to be (same idea with Piranha 3D) - but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. Still, I'd give the story about a 3.5/5. I can say that you can go into it without any previous knowledge of Step Up 1 or 2.The reason you watch the movie are because of the "Dance Battles" -- 2 groups enter, only one leaves (well.. they both leave, but only one wins) - in the movie there are 3 of these battles, each lasting about 5 minutes (and the 3rd/final one lasting about 10 minutes) - during this time it's a group of different artists doing their own dance routines, which were very good! Lots of "Cool" moments to be seen here. Outside of these are the typical love story/training scenes you'd expect. In 2D, the movie was good and still worth a purchase. In 3D, it's fantastic. Step up 3D was filmed natively in 3D (meaning 2 cameras used, not done after-the-fact in post production). Lots of "depth" shots (with multiple layers of people in crowds), little to no ghosting in the entire thing, and a few very good "pop out" moments.Video quality is very sharp, colorful.. no problems here!Audio is also very good (it uses DTS-HDMA 7.1 audio, and with a movie based around music/dancing, it delivers). 5/5In the set you get a Blu-Ray 3D disc, Blu-Ray 2D disc (separate discs for each), DVD copy and Digital Copy for itunes.Extras are good - music videos, deleted scenes and a short film.Probably the best live action 3D Blu-Ray I've seen so far -- with such a slim selection available, this is definitely one of my favorites so far.

Step Up 3D 710
The whole franchise is just about a group of street dancers dancing inthe street?! Obviously, the plot isn't what we are here to watch. Theonly reason anyone even see this franchise is because they want to seesome dancing. Acting, plot, story-telling, and writing, screw all ofthat. The only thing they need is a good choreographer and a directorwho specializes in dancing. Jon Chu is the correct choice since hedirected the first Step Up and he did a fine job on this one also. Theeye-popping 3D is what I like in particular to this. Adding in the 3Dis a very risky but also right move. Everyone loves to see a dancingfilm in 3D! Aside from the bad acting, no plot, and the improviseddialogue, Step Up 3D is the best dancing film of the year.

How this is getting 3.910 i do not know S!!
i watched this film yesterday with the girlfriend, and i didn't havehigh hopes for the film at all, I'm not really into dance/romancemovies. But during the film, with each minute i became more and more inlove with it. I mean WOW!! step up 3D delivers like no other dancemovie out there. This movie was amazing! the 3D was incredible, thedancing was out of this world, the songs on the film were amazing! myand my girlfriend were singing along to them, but the storyline lackedabit, apart from the storyline, Justin Chi has made the perfect dancefilm! I'm even debating going to see this movie again next week!although the last too step up movies lacked character, the latestinstalment in the franchise definitely gives the trilogy the buzz thatit needs! i rate this movie 9/10, it would of been 10/10 if thestoryline wasn't lacking abit! even if you hate dance movies this moviein definitely worth watching.

3-Damn
Now I'm not saying that u should spend ya money see the film is nothingnew from the other two, but the dancing and music for the film are agreat mix i think personally =], during the film i had to containmyself from moving bout in chair Cos all i wanted to do was follow withthe tunes. The downside to the film i thought was the fact some of the actingwasn't crystal but then again what ya going to expect when ya can dancelike they do in the film who needs acting when ya can move like them, and the other thing is movie mistakes i saw for one example the danceoff at the end now when both of the groups decide to move to the sidesof the stage when the cameras change from one shot to another you seethe leader off the scorpions jacket is on one min then a change shotthen his in vest then back into the jacket(when i spot movie mistakes iget bothered loll) also i thought it was a bit long winded when theywas fitting in the storyline 2 hours a bit long for a dance film Nowthe 3D i thought was really good use they tried so many ways to excessthe 3D n i think they pulled it off very cleverly, also thought the 3Dwas how its meant to feel stuff coming out and making ya flinch =] Isay go see the film it is an enjoyable film but just the arse ache yaget sitting in ya sit for 2 hours but 3D makes everything so muchbetter =]

Let Me Put It This Way You Will Not Be Disappointed
I'm still not certain the "Step Up" films take place in the real world.Dance is so important to the characters that inhabit this plane ofreality that I barely recognize it. Is every move a metaphor?"Battling" surely seems a surrogate for a fistfight, while love ismanifested with more delicate gymnastics. Context regardless, theseriousness with which they approach their art is unshakable.Conversely, as someone who finds their rhythmic jiving inherentlysilly Yes, I saw "Step Up 3D" ironically. My recommendation, however,is anything but.I honestly can't imagine it disappointing anyone. If you're a fan (inany capacity) of the previous two films, well, you're in for a treat.Part three was shot in 3D (as opposed to converted post-production) andlooks terrific. The image depth is deep and convincing, and even whenthe effect is applied as a gimmick, its exactly what a film like thisneeds. The plot revolves around a series of escalating dance-offs, andI can't see the ridiculousness of some of these sequences having thesame impact flattened. The cinematography is clearly built with glassesin mind; see it in 3D or don't see it.That may seem a rash proclamation, especially for those who reallyhaven't come around on 3D yet. But as with Cameron's "Avatar," thequality differential between those films conceived and designed for themedium and those that tack it on in the eleventh hour is vast. Plus, the "Step Up" films were always sort of a gimmick. Regardless ofwhether your interest in the franchise is ironic or legitimate, you'renot in the seat for great storytellingÂYou want to see some suckasshake it out.A lot of time, that desire is satiated at the expense of clear lapsesin logic, and tall caricaturesÂ"Step Up 3D" is no exception. The waythese bizarre human beings behave is often as crazy as their danceskillz, and to top it off, the film suffers from Dual ProtagonistDisorder. It's a benign case, but there's really no accounting for it.We're introduced to "Moose" (Adam G. Sevani), an incoming NYU freshmanwho gets swept up in the underground dancing scene, and who may be thelast hope for a crew known as the Pirates, whose dance dojo (get this)is in danger of being reclaimed by the bank. Ignoring the readymadeplot, we then switch gears, following Luke (Rick Malambri), the dojo'smaster, in his quest not only to lead his team to victory in "thebiggest battle ever" and score $100,000, but to connect with amysterious, voluptuous stranger, and become a filmmaker (?).Alternating between the two stories, audience empathy is split, andthey each end up with a half share. It works when they're dancing, orbetter yet dancing together, but "Step Up 3D" suffers when it tries tobring plot to the forefront. The last half-hour in particular dragswhen mouths start to move faster than feet. Shut up and dance, youidiots!Nevertheless, you really can't lose sight of intention here. Of coursethe 3D "Step Up" isn't a great movie. It's easy to hate for all itsflashy vacuity, but like I said, it might very well be impossible to bedisappointed by. Going through my checklist, I got exactly what Iexpected, not the least of which was some truly accomplished (re:ludicrous) dancing photographed impressively in 3D. But the mostimpressive thing about it is that even in snidely seeking it out for myown derisive enjoyment, it delivered. Ultimately, it doesn't matterwhy; the point is ÂIt's fun.

Entertaining movie. That was what movie suppose to do? Right?
I enjoyed the movie. The dancing alone worth 7 stars. It was impressingin real 3D--not the type of movie shot on regular then made to be 3D toget more money. The screen actually blurred out if you take off yourglass. That's real 3D for you. In a dance movie, they went together.Sorry, not everyone paid to go see a movie to bust their brains outthinking about the plot. After a week of hardworking, we go TGIF andenjoy ourselves. Movies like Inception, Shutter Island, BrooklynFinest, The Departed are great once in a while, not every week. Atleast there's no 12 year old girl running around killing everyone (andsomehow people thought it was ... bad-ass) in this one.The choreography in this movie is impressive. It only looks messy ifyou know nothing about break-dance.All in all, the movie did what it set out to do, a entertaining danceflick for the general audience, not a masterpiece for 60 year oldprofessors.

come on, really?
Was dragged by my nieces to see this. This movie was missing the most needed element, ....actors!None of the people in this move had any acting chopps! Who ever was the script writer should leave hollywood for writing such cheesy garbage. Plus the theater was full of young bratty girls paying more attention to their texting than the movie. Usually that would bother me, but this time it was understandable. Save your money.

Surprisingly Good
First off, I never would have seen this movie if I wasn't required toat work. It was shown as a teen movie program at the library I work at.I had a really enjoyable time watching it though. Sure, the script waswritten by a 12 year old (or at least played like it did), you couldsee the "twist" coming from a mile a way, and the acting was on parwith those of a porno, but it was still a very enjoyable movie. Thedance scenes were incredible. I couldn't imagine being able to move mybody the way they could but really wished I could have. The maincharacters Luke and Moose aren't completely awful at acting. Nataliewas fine too to be honest. I don't see any Oscars in their future, butwith dance moves like theirs, who needs it? I'm not a dancer myself andI haven't seen the other two Step Up movies, but if it's anything likethis one, I may need to netflix them. I left wanting to dance andthat's probably the best you can hope for with a dance movie.

Worth a watch
I am a fan of the Step Up franchise,I loved Step Up and Step Up 2 thestreets,so i have to admit when i sat down to watch this movie I hadhigh hopes. The dancers where amazing but the very predictable storyline and OK atbest actors took a lot away from the film. The only good thing aboutthis movie is MOOSE,his acting in comparison with the rest of the castis very believable and his dancing was well...awesome.So if you are afan of the franchise I would say go see this movie just because itsStep Up 3 and don't get your hopes up too high.I gave this movie a 4 because of the great dancing, why isn't it a 5??you'll find out when you watch the film.

Very entertaining to watch the dancing and the 3D aspects of it all
Sure the story is probably the weakest from the 3, but the dancing isthe most entertaining to watch from the 3 movies as well. And the 3Daspects of the film is done pretty well and was a lot of fun to watch. The past two movies is better when it comes to the plot, but stillboring and I couldn't careless about it in this. Since it is mostlyridiculous, but it's just really ridiculous this time around. But ifyou want to see a dance flick with cool dancing in it, go check thismovie out. I am also really glad Moose makes a comeback in this, thekid is one cool nerd and the kid can really freaking dance. Overallalthough the plot is laughably ridiculous, the dancing and the 3Daspects of it was a ton of fun to watch. Would have been even moreentertaining if it had more dancing competitions in it.7/10

Solid entertainment
A young man arrives at NYU and he encounters a dance crew that needs to win a contest in order to maintain their living arrangements. Loud Hip-Hop music and street dancing punctuate this story of a college freshman trying to balance dance practice, with commitments to schoolwork and loyalty to his best friend. This is an entertaining romp if you like the loud pulsating beats of Hip-Hop.

Step up 3D - DVD
This review is from: Step Up 3 (DVD) This is a typical dance movie that I have watched at least five times. Even though you can figure out the plot pretty early, which is the same as any other dance monvie, the dances go above and beyond any dances done before! If people like this movie they should definatly watch Street dance 3D (british)

Spectacular Choreography with Soul. An Inspiring Double-Major.
If urban street style dancing is exactly what you are looking for, youwill be overwhelmed by its dance sequences that are full of vigour andattitude. Aiming to inspire the younger generation, Step Up 3 hits theright spot with its remarkable dance choreography that rendershigh-spirit sentiments among audience in recommended 3D format.Let's face it, there is not much act and substantial plot in thisproject. But with a whole lot of dance action. A film with dance as itssoul (where it shines in exuberance) with a sub-plot to the characters'inner struggle with various focus in life to illustrate how one pursuesdreams amidst life challenges. In the case of Moose, it is hisengineering degree and best (girl) friend, Camille, versus his pursuitof dance. While for the other leading character Luke, it is his dilemmabetween his talent (film-making) and passion (dancing).Step Up 3D depicts Luke's situation further as it actually fusesdancing with film-making, by featuring urban street dance in a featurefilm. Undoubtedly, this is how Step Up 3D wins hands down as aconvincing dance genre. Featuring documentary style footage of hisdance crew citing inspirations, this brings a whole new dimension tothe purpose and origins of street dance."Why do you like to dance?", questions the film.In amazement, the characters experiment and explore the underlyingtruth behind what's fueling them to engage street dance with suchrelentless determination. "People dance because dance can changethings. One move, can bring people together. One move, can make youbelieve like there's something more. One move, can set a wholegeneration free.", says Moose who cites Michael Jackson as one of thelegendary examples. This is what elevates Step Up 3D away from the first two installments, other than being in 3D.But wait, there's more. The most significant quality of this film definitely derives from thespectacular choreography by Jamal Sims and his team, performed by theon screen dancers and nicely captured by Cinematographer Ken Seng. Allunder the direction of Jon M. Cho. All of these goodness will be bestexperienced with the added third dimension to further reel you into thesilver screen, feeling as if you are witnessing the dance movesfirst-hand on scene.Make no mistake, as you will truly come to realise what an overwhelminggrand finale they have produced in the showdown between the House ofPirates and rivals House of Samurai. Dance supremacy transcends beyondskills and moves where it has truly attained a whole new level withscience and engineering (you'll have to see it for yourself). What a great example of achieving optimum results upon mergingacademics and leisure. As Moose manages a double major in engineering and dance, Step Up 3Dhas also delivered its double major in dance and soul in awe.

bought it for the 3d...
This review is from: Step Up 3 (Three-Disc Combo: Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) The story was weak, the acting was terrible and the dancing was awesome. This move got high ratings for 3d. My opinion? the 3d sucked. I have a 100 inch screen and my 3d is done with a projector and a 3d converter. 3D movies look awesome with my setup. Other 3D movies I bought from amazon is "Under the Sea", "Legends of the Guardians", and "Alice in Wonderland". These movies had awesome 3D effect. This Stepup movie 3D was by far the worst out of my 3D collection. I was tricked by other reviews saying the 3D in this movie was on par if not better than Avatar. Lies. Unless Avatar had sucky 3D! Maybe it's just me but I watched this entire movie almost cross-eyed. The 3D effect was maybe too strong? When it popped, it was too double imagey and it gave me a headache. There were moments in my other 3D movies in which I saw double but not this much. It was like the whole film and I wanted to watch the movie in 2D instead but the problem is I would be stuck with a crappy movie in 2D instead of 3D crap. Putting crap in 3D automatically makes it better normally. Not in this case. So I'm stuck with a horrible movie with horrible 3D with the only redeeming value is the nifty 3D cover. I wish I could rent 3d movies from netflix.
