But still...
Even in these harsh circumstances, one can still see that Natasha Henstridgeis not only an amazing babe but also a pretty decent actress. Shedefinitely deserves better than this.

Much gore and sex, but not bad
This movie contains a lot of gory, disturbing, sexy and violent scenes, but the good special FX makes this movie not another bad horror movie (I only didnt like the alien at the end). Allright, there are some bad acting performances, but who cares in this genre. If you are going to see this movie, you want to be shocked. And believe me, you will be.If you are going to see this movie, see it on DVD. It has some fun extra's and it has good sound and picure quality. But don't expect a good story.

Alien Erotica strikes again!
It's back again! The alien femme fatale has come back to wreak havoconce again. This time it's the East Coast. Most of the original cast ofthe first "Species" movie Madsen and Helgenberger return with the helpof one of the astronaut Gamble(Mykelti Williamsom, TV's "The BronxZoo", "Midnight Caller",and the hit movie,"Forrest Gump")who helps themilitary stop the infected astronaut who's spreading terror. Sil'sclone Eve(Henstridge) looks controlled compared to Sil. But when menare around, Watch out! Realizing that they had another weapon againstAsronaut Ross(Justin Lazard), there was hope. Gamble's blood was Ross'Achilles' Heel. And when Eve and Ross were getting it on, it was timeto act fast. And how. I know it was brutal when Lennox stabbed Gamblewith the pitchfork. As least it was better than cutting a major vein orGamble would've bled to death. Since Gamble's blood has Sickle Cell, hetold Lennox to use his blood and Gamble stained the machete with itjust for good measures. At least the results were different from thefirst, it was still a fun movie to watch, and it was little morehardcore than the first. Enjoy it, if you dare! Rating 3 out of 5stars!

The Turkey Has Landed
Press Lenox walks into a room and is shocked to see Sil , but not asshockedas I was to find that someone wanted to make a sequel to a less thanaverageSF thriller . With a few notable exceptions sequels are inferior productsand FAECES 2 continues the traditionDoes anyone remember NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2 ? If you do then you`llremember it ignores a very important plot device involving Freddy Krugarandhis victims , and it`s the same with this film which totally ignores anyinternal continuity with the first movie . But you don`t really noticethiswhen you see the makers have ignored important concepts like logic...First of all a manned mission is sent to Mars . Why ? , there`s no realreason ( Except to set up the plot of course ) for this happening . Yes Idoknow the Americans sent a dozen or so Americans to the moon but that wasduring the cold war when they were engaged in a space race with the USSR,both sides knew that if one side get there first the other side wouldhavesuffered a massive national humiliation hence both the USA and USSR spentmassive amounts of money and expertise on trying to get to the moon first. Why do you think NASA stopped sending men to the moon ? Because they`dwonthe space race at the cost of billions of dollars while the Sovietsweren`tprepared to spend vast amounts of resources on a meaningless race wherethey`d be only second . Space travel isn`t cost effective , that`s whyNASAhave a real life problem in sending manned missions to Mars becausethere`sno money to fund such a project . If someone found unlimited resources onMars like oil NASA would be able to get funding but this isn`t mentionedinSPECIES 2 . NASA send a mission to Mars because it`s there and get somelaughable sponsorship deal from soft drink and sportswear firmsNo hold on tell a lie , it transpires halfway through the movie that theUSmilitary want to put military bases on Mars . Military bases on Mars ?Against whom ? If it`s military bases with their missiles pointed againstcountries on Earth then where`s the logic in that ? Wouldn`t you keep thebases nearer their targets ? It`s a bit like General Tommy Franks keepingall his front line bases in Iceland when intervening in Afghanistan andIraq. And neither does this contrived plot point explain how NASA got theirincredible budget to go to Mars .Talking of the military , isn`t there some required basic fitness levelforthe military ? I`ve never seen a serviceman weigh four hundred pounds .Thissums up all types of carelessness on the part of the makers , things likeLenox holding his pistol sideways . Why would he do that if the sightsarelocated at the top of the gun ? Oh and the first man to step foot on Marsisthe world`s most famous guy but can walk down a street without beingrecognised , until the script requires it . And is DNA a living sentinentbeing ? I don`t think so" This isn`t The X-files "You`re right there

The worst film ever?
I was pleasantly surprised by Species I. An ok paced scfi/horror-moviewithok special-effects and a beautiful nude Natasha Henstridge. An alrightfilmfor a boring Sunday-evening.But Species II belongs in a class all for itself. I seriously think thatit's the worst film I've ever seen. And I have seen a lot. The script, thespecial effects, the acting - nothing is good. I couldn't stop watching tosee if it could get any worse and it did all the way to the end. It's likenobody has cared at all about the result. `Just make the movie and squeezethe last possible buck out of the concept.'It's not your average Steven Seagal-kind of boring bad, it's more sublimethan that.So if you, as I do, like BAD movies - Species II is a must.

Its mating season again. Run!
I shamefully admit that I liked the first movie, but this one is basically a filmed deal. Terrible dialogue and not much plot worth mentioning. The direction is good, and the special effects are interesting. Plenty of gore and sex for everyone. Next movie, please.

Not bad ( possible spoilers )
Species 2 is not a movie that is as bad as everyone considers it to be. Ofcourse, it had not at least a bit of a story, but it just wanted to be asplatter-movie and so it is. If you want to dislike this movie, you will. Ithink , all in all it has the same quality as Species (1995), but it justwants to be a splatter-movie. I rated this film 6/10 or 7/10. But I do notrecommend this to anyone who wants to dislike it. There have been films thatI wanted to dislike, but I liked them. But if anyone wants to dislike this,he will.

A sad, sad day for sci-fi!!!
This movie can barely call itself a sci-fi movie. The whole idea of itwasgreat .. but the plot, the acting, the special effects and the actors'linesare sadly lacking the makings of a great sci-fi movie.

Cmonits fun, gory and its got loads of boobs in it... whats not to like?
A team of astronauts, returning from a trip to Mars, are attacked by anorganism that oozes out of a soil sample taken from the red planet'ssurface; after blacking out for seven minutes, they awaken, unable torecall what has happened to them.Once back on Earth, the astronauts are subjected to several tests;whilst checking the blood sample from Captain Ross (Justin Lazard), theteam leader, a scientist is mysteriously killed. When the dead man'sbody is examined, DNA is found which is similar to that of Eve, ahuman/alien hybrid (Natasha Henstridge) that has been created in atop-secret laboratory (from the same batch of embryos that resulted inSil from the original Species movie). It seems that one (or more) of the crew of the recent Mars mission ishost to an alien, and unless they are captured, they will endeavour toprocreate ASAP with as many partners as possible.Species II has a very silly story, with some particularly daft plotturns (Eve learns to drive from watching The Dukes of Hazzard!), butwith lashings of quality gore (including several gruesome alien birthsand a shotgun blast to the head), better alien effects than the firstfilm, and even more nudity, this sequel is still very enjoyable andworth watching if you liked the original.Michael Madsen returns as tough-guy Press, along with Marg Helgenbergeras science bod Laura Baker, and also turning up for the fun is the everreliable James Cromwell as the senator father of space hero CaptainRoss. If you're in the mood for some undemanding mindless sci-fi horror, thencheck out Species IIÂit's not as bad as a lot of people seem to think!

By far one of the WORST sci-fi movies ever made.
As stupid as I was, I rented this film with some minor hopes that it wouldbe decent. I own the 1st Species, and have grown a liking of it....and Ithought "What the hell...Michael Madsen is in it....it can't be thatbad."Boy was I wrong.First off, Madsen's character isn't in the movie enough, he isn't given anygood lines. The plot is interesting at first with the whole Mars set-up, butultimately pointless with no real connection to the 1st film. Most ofNatasha Henstridge is wasted in a glass tank, and between that is shots ofpointless nudity as the part man/part alien astronaut screws any woman hecan find and drags his oddly clothed children to some barn. Oh yeah....itsfilms like this which make Aliens look even better than it alreadywas. What's next....the direction was really dull and lifeless....One of thesaving graces of the 1st film was its visual flare, the artistic style ofthe directing...and of course, the special effects were fairly poor, asexpected truthfully.Overall....rent it if you like watching crap....and for those whounfortunately seen it already....you probably want to shoot yourselves forwasting your time...just pray your head doesn't grow back.

Enjoyable trash.
The people who are stating that this movie is the worst sequel they've everseen obviously never saw "Hercules II" or "Jaws 3-D" or "Hellraiser II".Now, I am not about to tell you that this is a great film, but if you setyour expectations low, you are likely to have fun. Despite the icky (andvariable in quality, though impressive in the last 10 minutes) specialeffects and the large amounts of blood and t&a, the film never becomes trulydisturbing, because you're never meant to take it 100% seriously. MichaelMadsen understood that, to be sure, and thanks to his trademarked coolness,he walks away with the picture. As for Natasha Henstridge, she has more orless a supporting part, but one that is rather imaginatively linked to thecentral story line. Overall, a movie with no artistic pretensions and, undoubtedly, many flaws(someone else already mentioned this; why didn't her head explode when sheescaped from the lab?), but watch it in the right frame of mind and it'squite enjoyable. Do you know any other movie that features sex between slimyaliens?!? (**1/2)

fails to utilize Species best assets . . .
While not a science fiction classic, Species (1995) was an effective action thriller that incorporated sex and violence, into an intriguing story centered on a female alien's search for a mate. It didn't hurt matters that as the alien Sil, the striking Natasha Henstridge was frequently el natural, as the former model's performance in her film debut, was very natural and uninhibited. What made Species so compelling and interesting, was that a female alien was preying upon men. Species II (1998) abandons this basic premise. Henstridge again plays an alien, but one that isn't the primary threat. Instead, the focus is on a new extraterrestrial menace, one that coincidentally also causes humans to have a mad drive to procreate. There is sex, nudity, gore, and violence, but little of it involves Henstridge. US astronauts exploring Mars are infected by an alien life form. Upon returning to Earth, mission commander Patrick Ross (Justin Lazard) begins banging every female that comes his way. Unfortunately for these women, very shortly after the act, a fully developed child pops out through their belly, killing them in the process. Ross continues to produce more offspring, leaving a trail of bloody corpses behind. Marg Helgenberger reprises her role as Dr. Laura Baker, and Michael Madsen returns as security expert Press Lenox. Lovers in the first film, the two characters display no sense of intimacy here. Baker has continued experiments with the original alien DNA and created Eve (Henstridge), who is basically a genetic clone of Sil. Like her predecessor, Eve lives like a lab rat, captive behind glass walls, in a secret government lab. Eve is sensitive to the alien presence in Ross, and attempts to help in his capture. Also part of the team hunting Ross, is fellow astronaut Dennis Gamble (Mykelti Williamson) who is immune from the alien's influence. Eve finally gets involved late in the game, crashing through her glass prison and escaping, just as Sil had done before. With Ross preying on helpless victims, there is some horror, but not much suspense. The most excitement comes at the final confrontation, which features the film's best special effects. The rest of the effects are a mixed bag. Some, like those related to the Mars landing are unimpressive, while others like the various birthing sequences and alien cocoons, are quite effective. Species II has some rough spots, but is reasonably well-executed. While it would have been near impossible to recapture the same kind of fresh innocence, putting Natasha Henstridge, the best thing about the original film into the background, is a questionable decision to say the least. And more could have been done with Baker and Lenox as well. The sex and violence gets your attention, but it is executed without much finesse. The screenplay simply lacks the creativity to take full advantage of the cache from the original film. Frittering that away, is a disappointing waste. Species II is an acceptable science fiction thriller, but only just.

Unnecessary Sequel
This sequel was completely unneeded, because the first one was fine forwhat it was.The plot here is that the same alien DNA that was in the first movie(which again, was transmitted via radio signal) has been just layingaround Mars, waiting for some hapless astronauts to bring it back toEarth.Meanwhile, the project that made the original SIL, awesome killingmachine, decided to make another because, hey, that worked out so wellthe first time. Really. The most unpleasant part of this film is the copious monster rape. Alot more blood, a lot more gore, a lot more nudity, a lot less anythingyou care about.Michael Madsen and Marg Helenburger are back, but they aren't nearly asmuch fun as they were in the first film.Worth watching? Not really.

Yuck-O-Rama
This was the most disgusting movie I have ever seen. The parts where thewomen give birth made me sick. I wasn't to eat anymore of soda and popcornI had bought, I felt so ill. The plot was also bad. Why would space-monsterDNA from hundreds of lights years away (as in the first movie) be the sameas some from Mars? Dumb. I think it would be wise if whoever made thismovie threw all the prints of this movie in a big bonfire.

sex-phobic and stupid
Was this sick, deranged movie trying to be the x-rated version of "AlienResurrection"? It's utter crap! Not only does this movie fail in terms ofplot, dialogue, acting and direction, but "Species II" is blatantlyoffensive. Patrick practically rapes the women he beds, resulting in they havegory, explosive pregnancies. Naked women are shown bloodsoaked. There's anasty (and pretty ridiculous) scene where Eve is assaulted by aphallic-shaped tentacle. And to top it off, the black guy has lines like,"Brother can't get no booty"! Avoid this extraterrestrial porno at allcost!

Technical Defects Abound
I did not see the prequel and got this video at a garage sale. I was diappointed. The script had some technical defects, like the Eve being contained in isolation so that she avoids "contact with males" so as to not have her sexual nature stimulated, but she is allowed to watch the "Dukes of Hazard" on TV! There is also a scene where she breaks out of her confinement clearly wearing an item of clothes that does not appear in another scene and with no time in between to change her clothes to explain it (there is only a chase scene inbetween). It was also hard to believe that the main character could have his memory intact after his head gets blown off completely and a new head replaces it. I find it hard to suspend disbelief when these kinds of inconsistencies appear in a movie. It also makes me feel that some unnecessary sloppiness went into the production. The special effects were decent but very gory. There is something strangely comedic about the sexual scenes in the middle of all the gore and tentacles, but I do not think it was intended. If it was a comedy, the gore made it hard to take it on this level.

Even worse than the first one!
What possessed me to watch this film, I still do not know, but Iwatched it nonetheless. I had seen Species and I thought it wasextremely bad. I half hoped this couldn't get any worse. It could. Thenumbers were pulled out of someone's nose (for lack of a better bodypart) - I mean, reaching Mars 1 billion years ago? That has fabricatednumber written all over, one of the biggest no-no's if you want to use'scientific' data. And it's not just the numbers, it's everything thatsmells of fabrication: the sets, the characters, the dialogues, everything! Every single bit just comes across as fake, which is thekiss of death of any film.Sci-fi films can be really good. They can suck you in and not let yougo until the credits are rolling. Species II doesn't do this. Itdoesn't attract, it repels.

Maximum Perversion Typical TA Movie
Don't waste your time on this one. I saw this one before I saw the original Species. I don't know how that would affect me, but I do know this. I forced myself all the way through it. This is nothing but a ... T&A Sci Fi movie. Really isn't worth your time if you have any class whatsoever. Please forget this one.
