Not inspired by Twelfth Night as much as ....

I wish the makers of this film would've paid tribute to the 1985 movie Just One of the Guys starring Joyce Heyser and Clayton Rohner, rather than the Shakespeare play. Each character in She's the Man can be traced to an identical one in Just One of the Guys. And there are three scenes - the double-date, the locker room gawk, and setting off the fire sprinkler that come directly from the 1985 film. I thoroughly enjoyed both movies even though I'm not a fan of remakes, but I wish the director and producer of She's the Man would've paid credit where credit is due - to the original inspiration that is truly deserving as such. Just One of the Guys.

funny movie!

She's the man is a very funny and entertaining movie. When i first sawthe trailers and read the bad reviews, i thought that this would beanother teen flicky where Amanda Bynes makes a complete buffoon out ofherself...I was wrong, this movie is hilarious from start to finish.There were many funny scenes and weird things happening. This is areally good movie to check out, i recommend this to people that knowhow to watch movies. One of the funniest parts in the movie is whenAmanda Bynes (Viola dressed as Sebastien) is playing soccer with herteam and the ball hits her under the belt really hard. She doesn'treact how a guy would if he got a ball hit him in the nuts hard. Theneveryone just stops and wonders whats wrong with Viola (dressed asSebastien)...after wards she then reacts hilariously and over doesit...very funny movie though. The ending is also funny...filled withsurprises. Its definitely worth watching!

Amanda Steals The Show

Amanda Bynes has emerged as one of the few former child stars whoescapes their past. She obviously has a good career ahead of her, ifthis film is any indication. Amanda steals the show, as she should, asViola, a soccer player tom-boy who's team was cut. Distressed by thispredicament, Viola is desperate for an opportunity to play and show herskills when her brother Sebastian decides to sneak out of town, askingher to call him in sick at his new school. Obviously, Viola decides todress up as Sebastian (her twin) and go to school in his place.At school, Viola finds things to be harder than she expected. She findsherself the object of attraction of a hot girl named Olivia, who herother new friend Duke likes, but she needs Duke to help improve hersoccer skills, and at the same time she must avoid her brother's evilgirl-friend Monique. It's much more simple than it sounds, but it couldhave been a disaster. Because of Amanda Bynes, it's not.Amanda is perfect at playing the boyish but pretty Viola, but shereally shines when playing Viola imitating her brother. She brings asense of over-the-top-ness and fun to the role while grounding it atthe same time. She's one of the great new teen comedians, and I hope tosee more of her. Now, about the film.Obviously, there are plot holes and cheesy moments, but it's a teencomedy, so what do you expect? The supporting players range from fairto exceptional, and some of their characters are also very funny. It'ssure to make you laugh, and that's all you can ask for with a film likethis.7.5/10

**Spoilers ahead**Viola Johnson (Amanda Bynes) had her own good reasons for disguisingherself as her twin brother Sebastian (James Kirk) and enrolling in hisplace at his new boarding school, Illyria Prep. She was counting onSebastian being AWOL from school as he tried to break into the musicscene in London. What she didn't count on was falling in love with herhot roommate, Duke (Channing Tatum), who in turn only has eyes for thebeautiful Olivia (Laura Ramsey). Making matters worse, Olivia isstarting to fall for Sebastian, who--for reasons Olivia couldn't't¿tbegin to guess--appears to be the sensitive type of guy she'd alwaysdreamt of meeting. If things weren't complicated enough, the realSebastian has come back from London two days earlier than expected andarrives on campus having no clue that he's been replaced...by his owntwin sister. What a film.It contained some of the best lines and quotes ever.I likethe chemistry that Channing Tatum and Amanda Bynes had.They are bothvery talented actors.Well Viola as a boy was absolutely hilarious.Itsjust so funny watching her trying to act like a guy. It has greatcharacters in there, obviously Viola and Duke but there are also peoplelike Eunice, Sebastian and Olivia. If you love comedies and even ifyour not into them, check this film out because its fantastic andfunny.10/10

great movie!

The movie is very funny and romantic. I like it a lot. I think everyone should buy and see this movie. In the movie, Viola and Sebastian really do look alike.....I mean when Viola dresses as her brother Sebastian. If it was me, I could never ever dare to do that. I would just rather stay as a girl. Imagine me having to go take a shower with all those other boys or girls thinking that I'm cute. I think it's disappointing that the movie didn't make it at least #2 when it first came out. I really had a great time seeing this movie. I love Amanda! She's amazing.

hey guys oh my god i watched the movie and i absolutely loved it. itsso funny and the guys that are in it are so hot, especially Duke(Channing Tatum). well i loved it so much that i cant wait to get it onDVD in Australia. does anyone no when the DVD will be coming out inAustralia?? if you do no please write on this comment page when it willbe coming out. well thanks this was an awesome movie, its a mustsee!!!!!!!! Spoilers for both Twelfth Night and Shes The Man-Both Good

I think a person would be well-advised to read or see (I favourreading) "Twelfth Night" before seeing, or re-seeing "She's The Man".The movie is good on its' own, but comparing the two, and looking forthe in-jokes makes it a lot more fun. Shakespeare was inspired byothers. I think he'd give a thumbs-up.Harld Bloom said in "Shakespeare, The Invention of the Human", thatmost of the people in "Twelfth Night" need to be locked up. Malvolio,the person Malcolm is based on, is-for no good reason. People in "She'sThe Man" are sane in contrast. For instance, Duke Orsino is far moreleval than the Duke of Orsino. He also shows that a man can havefeelings without being gay. He displays a lot of self-control.It's a teen comedy (a clean one), so it doesn't have the dark edges ofthe play. For instance Olivia in the play is mourning the death of herbrother. In the movie, she has been dumped.If you like Sir Andrew and Sir Toby in the play, they don't have thesame attention in the movie.The in-jokes are quite often quick. The hairdresser Pauls' last name isgiven once. It is Antonio. Lots of people who've read the play say thatAntonio has more love for a man than is just friendship. Deep lovebetween men was noted in those days. Some see a sexual side toit-homosexuality was illegal.The only line from the play I caught is where Duke Orsino quotes thecoach on greatness during the soccar game. In the play, it is said byMalvolio, quoting Maria).

I love this movie! Its the funniest movie I have ever seen!

She's the Man was the funniest movie I have ever seen. I laughed sohard that I was crying. It was also very romantic. Channing Tatum isabsolutely gorgeous and can really act. It sure doesn't hurt that hehas quite a few shirtless scenes either. Channing and Amanda haveamazing chemistry and were absolutely wonderful together. I love thismovie. When you watch make sure to watch the last deleted scene. It wasa huge mistake to cut that scene because it is one of the best scenesin the movie. I highly recommend this movie. Amanda has never beenfunnier. And Channing is going to be a huge star. This is just thefirst of many for this bright new star.

Enjoyable teenage popcorn flick

Well if there is anything that makes this one stand out is theperformance of Amanda Bynes who put her heart and soul into thecharacter(s). And of course, landing herself admist into the socceronly adds to the chaos. The humour is built in quite neatly andexecuted at a natural level, without going overboard.And only now that I realised that the plot is modern adaptation ofShakespeare's "Twelfth Night, or What You Will".I had watched a poor Bollywood rip-off of this movie and realised howsuperior She's The Man actually is. Not for a single moment does itlose sight of the proceedings. Watch it when aired on telly!

Awesome!

I loved this movie so much. Amanda Bynes (yeah, don't know if that isthe right way to spell her last name) was so funny! I loved thisrendition of "Twelfth Night." It was so much fun to watch I waslaughing the whole time. Sure the movie had a few dumb lines, butoverall it was just really funny. I would say go to this movie if youwant to see something that does not require you to think toomuch...it's one of those movies that you go to if you don't want aserious movie. I don't know if this movie is the best for youngkids...there are some dirty lines thrown in once and a while. Overallthis movie was awesome, and if you don't like Amanda Bynes, then Iwould say go to see the hot boys...because the movie is full of them!!

A cute and enjoyable films w some laughs

Dragged into this movie, I was actually surprised at the turnout. Thinking about this movie afterwards is a pleasant experience. I really did enjoy it!Amanda Bynes....not so funny on "What I Like About You" in my opinion, but super funny in this movie! You can see some of her tradional humor shine from like Nickelodeon days, lol. She really was very cute and enjoyable.Other characters in the movie will appeal to you if you are in high school or enjoy youngsters in Calvin Klein ads or something, but otherwise, probably forgettable for the most part.The plot was 100% predictable, even from viewing the trailer...but who expected it not to be? I think these kinds of movies are expected to be predictable and have a happy ending, and this movie did just that.With some funny jokes and Amanda just acting goofy, this movie will appeal to younger crowds, girls, families, or just anyone looking for a giggle.
