Whoever made this Film should apologise to true fans..........
Please for the sake of humanity, do not compare this abomination toPredator 1 & 2. In fact you should be hung, drawn and quatered for evenmentioning them in the same sentence. This "Film" should be released straight into a box set with AVP 1&2 andthen given for free to the mentally challenged muppets who think theyare great films.I felt angry after experiencing this lame cheap film rip off from thecon artists in Hollywood. I have never seen people look so depressedand cheated after leaving the cinema. Why you ask? It cant be that bad?...........Watch it at your own peril. Here are SOME of the points, inLaymans terms: -Some of the worst acting ever seen, this includes poorMr Fishbourne you can actually see the hurt and shame in his eyeswhilst "acting", surely his personal life has not deteriorated toobadly. -They got some weedy guy trying to act tough with a patheticbatman voice. He then takes his top off at the end and you cringe athis attempt to look like some sort of Arnie, but has the sort of figurethat the great Steven Hawking would be embarrassed of. -Some guy whotakes out Aliens with a swiss army knife. -Alien dogs which are justcut and pastes of the beasts in Avatar -Cheap lame effects and CGI e.g:The aliens HUD,infrared,camouflage,spaceships,environment.... in facteverything! -Lame ass cut and paste skanks and references from the TruePredator films which just make your blood boil. There is a cure though folks, just watch Predator 1 & 2 through againand this film will just be an easily forgotten bad dream. Next time youhear someone go on about how great this piece of crap is don't sayanything to them just smile to yourself and be grateful your not acomplete TW*T like them.

Predators may not be the instant classic Predator was, but as an action-oriented Sci-fi thriller and an entertaining summer diversion, it fills the bill.

A good effort at recapturing the original
++Contains Spoilers, probably++ Just back from the cinema and I foundthis a very acceptable sequel. Keeping the original score (or at leasta very similar version) and setting virtually everything in jungle andforest went a long way towards making fans of the Schwarzeneggeroriginal comfortable within the first 5-10 minutes. There wasn't too much messing around with the Predator mythos otherthan the injection of some sort of caste or clan system (much of whichwent over my head), but I admit to being a bit disappointed at therange of lethal gadgets the Predators employ (not much more than thewrist blades and 'parrot guns'). I was always a fan of the hardwaresported by the hunter in Predator II and felt its absence in this film. All of the principal cast did a good job, in particular Walton Gogginsinjecting some much-needed comic relief in an otherwise rather starchywe're-all-badasses script. A bit of a pity they didn't use Danny Trejomore than they did. The movie could have done with some loudercharismatic presence, though - none of the cast quite measured up tothe Schwarzeneggers, Venturas and Weathers from the original (and whocan blame them?).The momentum of the movie sags a bit in the middle when the charactersbriefly hole up with survivor Laurence Fishburn (although Fishburn putsin a good turn as a crazy veteran), but otherwise sets a reasonablyengaging pace throughout. No real surprises in the plot and what few twists there are are easilyspotted, but that doesn't harm the film in any way - action genremovies are allowed to be predictable and often benefit from it.There are also quite a few situational or musical cues that are almostidentical to the original movie that makes me wonder whether Predatorswould have been better to try and stand on its own two feet rather thaninvoke constant nostalgia in the viewer (or perhaps that's just me).At any rate, it is an enjoyable movie. The CG is effective, the deathssuitably brutal, the Predator suits aren't too bulky or rubbery and theconjuring-mime antics of the aliens are kept to a reasonable level(have never enjoyed the excessive contorting and gesturing ofguy-in-a-suit creatures - if the suit looks cool, let it do the work.As Mr Walken said, "don't just do something - stand there.").

The best Predator movie since the original!
This review is from: Predators ( + Digital Copy) [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray) After so many awful sequels, the Predator franchise finally gets a semi-worthy follow-up to the original Predator. Now first off, Predators is nowhere near as awesome of a movie as the original Predator. Not even close. But it IS a bit better than Predator 2, and MUCH better than those awful Aliens Vs Predator movies. What I liked about the movie was they didn't go all out with crappy computer generated special effects. There are some that are used tastefully, but not boat-loads like so many modern action movies that come out these days. The second thing I liked about it was how they just copied what worked from the first movie, and even used the same soundtrack. Normally I would think copying another movie is pointless, but in this case it's just finally nice to see another Predator movie that is fun to watch and follows somewhat the feeling of the original movie.I do have one major complaint about Predators. The casting leaves a lot to be desired. So many of the actors and their characters are just boring, and I can't help but think if the casting was better the movie would go from a good one to a great one. There are some bright spots though, like Adrien Brody who really does a fantastic job here. Also Louis Ozawa Changchien who plays who plays Hanzo is a pretty cool character, but in my opinion not given enough screen time so he's wasted a bit. You also have some decent acting by Laurence Fishburne, who's character has been stranded out in the jungle by himself for years, but he's so chubby it's hard to take his role seriously. How is it possible his character is so fat? Is he eating jungle donuts or something? There's also unfortunately Topher Grace playing Edwin, and while normally I think he's annoying and would stay away from anything he's in, he's not too bad in this.Overall it's FAR from the classic original Predator movie, but I did find myself enjoying this much more than I thought I would. I would definitely recommend it to any fan of the original Predator movie, as long as you don't think it's going to be as good or better than the original movie. Keep your expectations low, and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Predators have lost their Killer Instinct
As having seen the original and number 2 I thought this would continuethat great tradition, but alas, this was rubbish. Although there hasbeen much criticism regarding AVP and AVP2, I thought the first AVP hadsome merit but if it had a stronger cast and storyline it would havebeen better.Firstly the cast seems to be dull, Adrian Brody is no ArnoldSchwarzenegger. He actually looks and sounds like an idiot and is a tryhard throughout the entire movie. If the lead role cannot be takenseriously the rest of the movie is dire straights. Further in the firstPredator movie, time was spent getting to know the characters and thatway the audience had empathy with the characters. Here we couldn't carewhat happened to them. Also Tropher Grace, the guy from Spiderman 3 isin this disaster and really doesn't add to the movie. The script writers need to be fired. There really is no plot here. Agroup of 'worthy' prey is abducted from earth and sent to this Alienplanet to provide some hunting for the predators. What angers me isthat these Super Predators, really can't beat the speed or efficiencyof the first predator. These really don't seem that menacing and havelost their KILLER INSTINCT. I think even the weapons from AVP werebetter than the weapons they have here. Also why have the scene withLawrence Fishborne? He seems to be bipolar or schizophrenic and wantsto kill the group and take their weapons. Also we have this Yakuzamember that fights this super predator with a samurai sword and managesto force a tie with both of them being killed? This is supposed to be asuper predator who is faster, more powerful and smarter than theregular predator seen in the first predator movie. This is would belike comparing a commando to a soldier in the regular army. Also thepredators have very little screen time. It seems that they rushed thescript and the acting and action were casualties of that decision. This is a movie you should see only once and that is on free to air TV.This is a pathetic effort at making a movie. If this was all the fussregarding Robert Rodriguez's script, then this script needs to beburned and another script writer with some talent should be employed.Really can't blame Nimrod too much as the script and cast is weak. Alsothey really need to give the predator that Killer Instinct it had inthe first two movies. I will say that those who attempted the AVP moviehad some good ideas but needed a stronger cast and story. I did likethe weapons used in that movie. Also where has all the blood gone? Thefirst two movies had tonnes of blood in them and it seems that assequels have been made they have toned down the gore. We want gore. That is why we watch predator movies - good script, good cast and gore.A note to movie directors: Give us what we want, or else we willboycott the cinema.JNR

Horrible.
Bad movies aren't worth reviewing unless they are really this bad.Reboot, remake, sequel or whatever you wanna call it - it sucked. Imean. shut it off sucked. With a decent cast and same premise as theoriginal how could you go wrong? Answer: Slow pace. Absolutely nointensity. Lame acting. You feel like you're watching the poor mansPredator on the Sc-Fi Channel. Out of all the rip offs, I rank this onelast in the series. I'm just glad I didn't pay to see it.About 70% of this movie is a replica of the 1st: the "over here"whispers, Jesse Ventura's Vulcan machine gun reappears, an Asian guyplays Billy the Indian and also makes a last stand with only a sword, aHispanic chick retells the bunch what her village called thePredator...AGAIN, we're in the jungle ...AGAIN etc Spoiler Alert: toback up my claim that it's the Poor Man's Predator, I noticed 2 of thefilms bigger stars got killed off pretty quick....which translates to acheap budget. Most of the $$ must have went to extravagant foodcatering between shooting scenes. It sure didn't go towards the makingof this movie As much as people like to bash the Alien vs Predatorinstallments, they were at least entertaining, faster paced and filledwith action. Part 2 was also better than this.Adrien Brody is a good actor ( The Pianist, Hollywoodland) but not avery convincing lead in this one.

Funciona surpreendentemente bem ao descartar qualquer tentativa de se estabelecer como uma ficção científica séria e ao investir, em vez disso, na ação quase contínua.

Predator fans rejoice! Finally a sequel has arrived that is worthy of its 1987 predecessor, in the ultra serious and equally bloody Predators.
16 May 2012
A tight, surprising, well made action flick that relishes in macho-ness.

Decent action flick
This review is from: Predators (Amazon Instant Video) I like how the infinite ammo supply gets dropped when required by the plot. Oh well, it's not a novel. It's a movie. I enjoyed the characters. The action scenes weren't too bad either. I'll still take a book over a movie though.

What it lacks in imagination, it makes up in execution. It fulfills its limited potential, which is more than can be said of most of this summer's movies.

One of this summer's few movies that deserves to be called fun ... Suffice to say that Predators has the perfect amount of oozing, neon-green alien goo.

A good action blu ray to add to your library
This review is from: Predators (DVD) I found the movie to be very good and thought it did a great job of balancing what the audience knew and expected with a few new elements. As you watch Predators many references to the original will pop up and make you smile. I considered that to be a positive and enjoyed the nod to the original movie. I was motivated to go back and watch the first one again after finishing Predators. If you like the predator mythology and typical action movies then you won't be disappointed. The blu ray extras were also enjoyable. The motion comics were brief, but gave an interesting glimpse to the characters that are thrown into the plot. The Evolution of the Species pieces also provided more insight into the direction and depths that were taken to make the movie and mythos as interesting as possible. The deleted scenes were sparse, but a few of them were great and Trejo fans would have really enjoyed seeing a few of his great lines make it into the final film. Parts of the extras, especially the commentary, are a bit repetitive as Antal and Rodriguez take turns telling how awesome the other one is. Overall, a high quality blu ray experience, great value with all the extras, and an excellent step forward for the predator franchise.

It has no real new thoughts in its head but it updates all the old thoughts into a slimy new package just fine.

Lastly, there is commentary on the film by Nimród Antal and producer Robert Rodriguez and they both discuss their roles in the creation of the film and their working relationship on-set since both are directors. They talk quite a bit over locations, directing styles, how to save money making a movie, knowing what to shoot and when to stop shooting and move on to the next scene, and their mutual love for the performances of several actors including the bulked up Adrien Brody, the tears brought to their eyes by Alice Braga, the subtlety and humor of Topher Grace, the craziness of Laurence Fishburne, the instant talent of Oleg Taktarov, the adaptable nature of Walton Goggins, and the always reliable Danny Trejo.

B-list film with an A-list budget.
I couldn't imagine a more appropriate one-sentence summary for thisfilm. A B-movie in almost every respect (excessive gore, multiple plotholes and lazy, disjointed characterisation), Predators isunderwhelming in its effort to re-ignite the franchise, operating as athreequel more so than a total reboot. Despite being directed by NimrodAntal, this is certainly one of Robert Rodriguez's babies, as both thescriptwriter and producer. The film follows an elite group ofprofessional human killers, and one doctor, as they come to realisethey've been dispatched onto a remote planet which acts as a huntingpreserve for the Predator race. Their task is to not only survive (afeat in itself), but to find a way off the planet, ensuring a follow-upfilm in the future.Let's get to the positives first. The action is, for the most part, enjoyable and well directed, allowing the viewer a great visual scopeof what is going on in each scene. Also, all films of the Predator sagaare referenced in some way, providing some fun for big-time fans. Andthere is, of course, the mandatory reference to a certain Tarantinofilm (you'll know it when you see it) which certainly put a smile on myface.By a long way, the most disappointing aspect of Predators was theatrocious screenplay. A well-structured script brimming withoriginality can bring the characters to life like no other filmmakingtool. A weak one offers no scope for the characters to appeal to theaudience, because they feel like carbon copies of the generic modelsseen countless times in this genre. I like to view Rodriguez as anauteur rather than just a filmmaker. As such, I expect that he wouldinject some of his own ideas, characters and scenarios seeing as he isa specialist of the self-reflexive B-movie genre. Instead, one gets theimpression that he just sat back and let the film cruise along at astressless pace, not at all interested in having its events stick inyour mind after the closing credits. As odd as it sounds, I actually drew major comparisons betweenPredators and Jennifer's Body during the screening. Both films werepresented as something they clearly weren't, and both films featuredpersonalities who, at their peak, are capable of contributinghandsomely to quality films (Rodriguez with Sin City, and Diablo Codywith Juno). Unfortunately, when either writer operates outside theircomfort zone, the screenplay becomes either lifeless or overlyambitious.Just as confusing was the implementation of what has become known asthe 'Jaws complex': the idea that, the longer a film's antagonist iskept out of audience view, the more sinister and threatening theirultimate appearance becomes. But the fact that the viewer already knowswhat the Predators are capable of/look like through earlier filmscompletely negates this idea, and eliminates any suspense that may havedeveloped as well. A minor gripe to finish on. There is a cat-and-mouse scene about midwaythrough the movie which requires the characters to see where they aregoing, with the use of flares and flashlights. The problem is that, with every opportunity they get, the actors will flash them right downthe lens of the main camera. Because of the intense contrast betweenlight and darkness, this results in discomfort to one's eyes, anddetracts from the overall cinematic experience. Here's hoping Rodriguezcan bounce back with Machete, his highly anticipated QT collaboration.*There's nothing I love more than a bit of feedback, good or bad. Sodrop me a line on jnatsis@iprimus.com.au and let me know what youthought of my review.*

Great movie. Better than I expected
The story was really good. Predators was very well directed. There are plenty of surprises and new twists throughout the movie. It's the best predator movie made thus far. One thing though: I would like them to stop teasing us with tiny bits of predator technology and culture. I want to see the entire world where the predators came from. They have kept this a secret for several movies. Enough already!

Epic Fail by IMDb regarding this movie
As I write this on the Saturday of opening weekend of Predators, it issitting at a 7.6 rating on IMDb, with 36 percent giving it a 10/10.That makes it one of the most blatantly skewed ratings I have ever seenon IMDb, because this movie is awful. It is just plain bad. So it isclear to me that the studios have gotten pretty good at gaming the IMDbrating. I've noticed that opening weekend ratings are often skewedpretty high on IMDb, and it has only gotten worse. But Predators takesthe cake in terms of a dreadfully bad movie getting an impossibly highrating for what it is.Why is it bad? The script is like a work of fan fiction, and not in agood way. When you are seeing a movie for the first time and you arecompleting the actor's lines before they are, clearly it is lacking inany originality. There is zero tension. Even the decent actors in thismovie deliver very poor performances. But I think they simply hadnothing to work with. There is only so much an actor can do to salvagebad writing. And in this case, there was nothing they could do.And the special effects are very underwhelming. What kills me is thatthe creature in the original Predator movie was much more impressivethan the versions in Predators, where they simply look like kind oftall actors in Predator costumes.I won't go on and on about how bad it is because it has already takentwo hours of my life away. But suffice to say that this is an extremelyuninspired film which I am sure Adrien Brody will rank as one of hisworst. And IMDb, the studio owned you on this one. This is nowhere near a 7.6,or even a 6 for that matter. Don't see it. Not even as a rental, whichit will surely be in a month.

Like a faded memory of the first Predator movie
I like Adrien Brody, I really do, but this role was not something Iwould have seen him do. Without the feral aggression of ArnoldSchwarzenegger's or the Danny Glover's old timer shrewdness, he barelymanages to carry a character that is, by movie genre default, completely predictable. The only ones who couldn't see him coming amile away were the predators, heh :)The plot isn't much different from the first Predator, only it isplaced in a different jungle with a slightly more high tech bunch.Actually, the story is so similar, that I suspect they wanted tosomehow overwrite the failures that were the Alien vs Predator films. The actors all do well, but not great. Lawrence Fishburn appearssuddenly and shocks both with age and fat as with the schizoidcharacter he plays. But instead of developing it further, they justabandon it midway.Bottom line: a good enough Predator movie, with Alice Braga's smileoutshining predators and fighters alike. I enjoyed the alien dogs andthe second alien prey type, although, again, huge potential was wastedhere. I wish people would take a chance and go with their gut insteadof "reinventing" old and tried recipes.
