Boog? Elliot? What happened?

This review is from: Open Season 3 (DVD) Open Season (the original movie) has a fond place in my heart. It was very good, thoughtful, and enjoyable. Of course it had the easiness of introdcuing us to our new furry friends while the sequels tried to fill out back- and new stories. 2 was okay, enjoybable. 3 is meh. It tries to shoehorn adult characterizations and situations into a kid's movie and the situations and characterizations all end up being pretty cardboard. The movie finds Boog getting dissed by his buddies when he's looking forward to "guy's weekend" (how many kids are going to go, "Yeah, I can relate to that?" so he goes it alone...sorta (he takes his stuffed bear) until he meets a circus and a bear who wants to trade places with him. Yeah, it's derivative but any kid who makes it through to this point won't care. Much of the movie keeps Boog and Elliot apart, which is a mistake. Part of the charm of the original is the odd couple appeal they enjoy. The new characters that are introduced quite frankly aren't likable, especially the Llama. I felt like I needed a towel every time he was on screen (maybe that was the point). The less said about him the better. In summary, the movie is worth it if you're a fan of the series and you can get it on the cheap. But don't expect it to eclipse the first two. Go back and watch the original again if you need you're talking animal fix.

Good Luck With Everything.

Why does everyone think that kids are stupid or they can't actuallyspot a poorly made movie. I watched Open Season 1 and 2 before. IMOthey were fine children movies. Now, I have seen some weak animationsbefore but this really surprised me.I tried to laugh in this movie but I think my hand was busyfacepalming. In short, I regretted watching this movie. I thought maybethey will end with a bang and I would get some fond memories out of it,but no, they just ruined all the magic and probably made me hate thistrilogy.Unless you're a slow kid or just love these characters, I wouldrecommend you avoid this movie. Watch something else or try watchingsomething from the past.TL;DR, Life is short, don't waste it on this one.

Average funny movie

I really liked Open Season 1 and 2 wasn't bad. 3 just isn't as good. It did have the funny moments though, and I really liked the donkey or llama or whatever, he was funny.

Open Season 3

This review is from: Open Season 3 (DVD) This was a cute, funny movie that the whole family can enjoy. We have all 3 Open Season Movies and each one is pretty good family entertainment. I would recommend this movie to those with or without children.

I Made It Through 26 Minutes...

Just finished Open Season 1 and 2, so I felt obligated to watch thethird. I will usually watch any movie through to the end, regardless ofhow bad (...if only to see exactly how bad it will get). But 26 minutesinto this one, I stopped the movie to come here and read a few reviews. Now usually, I feel that many people like to come to IMDb and slammovies just for the sake of being mean. But I must say; in this case, Iagree with what most everyone else is saying here about this movie, andI don't feel bad that I won't be watching the rest. The voices are the first thing that throw you off, then you notice theanimation looks more like Saturday morning cartoons, just not as funny.Watch for yourself if you feel the reviews here are unfair. Afterwatching 26 minutes worth, I'd say most reviews here are beinggenerous.

Should have stopped after the Open Season II

If someone would like to spoil good memories after the Open Season I,they should definitely watch the third part. But I DO regret that Ispent money on the cinema ticket this time! It can get a title "The weakest animation of the year". Looks like theDirector spent just an hour working over the movie. The script writerswere not invited at all probably! No story, no jokes, no cutecharacters! The "joke attempts" were so weak, that even kids never laughed! Thequality of animation went down really evidently - characters are drawncareless, face of the Girl-bear looks quite scary; action is sent up byvery loud stained voices of animals, but not by the story itself! TheBear is not cute any more, the Deer is not funny, but unpleasant, andthe other Animals are just miserable flat washy figures! If I wouldn't sit in the middle of the row - I would leave the cinemain 10 minutes after beginning of the movie! Looks like it was just a sad attempt to squeeze out the last tippingpoints out of the name "Open season"...

Quality product at a terrific price!

This review is from: Open Season 3 (Blu-ray/DVD Combo) (Blu-ray) I purchased this DVD to go with my set, Open Season and Open Season 2, and with the option of both Blu ray and regular DVD, I think these combo packs are the best of both worlds! This item shipped very quickly and I got it at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this seller, and would absolutely buy from the this seller again!! Thanks!!!

Why waste your money on a stinker?

This review is from: Open Season 3 (DVD) We kept yawning while watching this Sony stinker. It's probably the worst digitally-animated movie we've ever seen, and we've seen all the biggies. BUT, we did give it 2 stars and not one because it does have a few fun scenes. But, those fun scenes are too few. It's really lacking adult humor. Kids MAY enjoy it (we've got none so we can't comment). Please, don't waste your money on this movie unless you're sure your little ones might like it.

ITS A CIRCUS!!! Really!

This was a much better sequeal than most movies, especially being a third installment. It shows true friendship and is appropiate for children. It has some off humor but other than that it's really cute. I think that they could have made it a little more in depth with the other characters like the other two this one just seemed to mainly focus on Boog (the bear). Would have liked more Elliot and the rest of the gang.

My kids loved this movie!

Seriously, they can't stop watching it. I can actually leave them in front of the TV while I attend to work. I've watched it once through and *loved it.

Open Season 3

This is probably the worst cartoon movie. Boog was mad at Elliot for missing "Guys Trip" so he ran away and joined the circus. There he fell in love with an ugly, gross, serious, and wierd bear named Ursa. Then a bear named Doug escaped from the circus and thought he was "King of the Forest" it was wierd. That's basicly all that happened. This is coming from a kid who LOVED Open Season 1 and Open Season 2. I wouldn't buy this.

Dont Buy - Wait To Rent Or For It To Come Out On Television

Light years below the first two films in writing, directing and character developement. The movie was filled with holes in the plot that even my 9 y/o could see through. She thought it was funny in some places, but even then, most of the obvious set-ups for jokes where not funny and there where several mis-fires. She hated the spitting Llama who just plain drools and slobbers. Combined the slobbbering with his "South American" accent and it is hard to understand what he is saying most of the time. Elliot the deer is, by virtue of the story, a non-existant factor and the chemistry between him and Boog the bear that helped make the others successful is completely gone. The dialogue is meandering and forced. Don't waste your money. Rent it or wait for it to come out on television.

There was no reason for making this sequel...

I think this sequel was made, because they didn't have anything else todo, so someone said "Hey, let's make a sequel to Open Season, we justneed to create the animation, story will come eventually!" And thisuseless unfunny video is the result.Open Season 1 had an old cliché story, but it was rather funny, noteven near to the top though. Open Season 2 also had its moments, butthis one, it absolutely useless. Old unfunny jokes, bad story that hasnothing to do even with the name, or the 2 first ones, only charactersare the same.I, as a big animation movie fan, couldn't bare watching any furtherthan 30 minutes.Well, if this and the first two Open Seasons are the first movies youever watched you could find it funny. Other than that, it doesn't muchworth watching.

nice movie for kids!

this is my first review on a movie! so please be kind enough to readthis!i wanted more from this movie... compared to the 1st and 2nd partsof the open season movie series! it wasn't that great. but this moviewas fun. it had a simple story and all the lovable characters from theopen season series were in it. this movie is very good for kids. tellsus about the importance of friendship! but the movie is flawed. i knowthat some people are going to hate this movie. but I'm not going tohate this. this movie goes into my favorite DVD collection. the storyis simple boog goes on a guys trip alone and sees a circus where thereare two grizzly bears. boog falls in love with the female grizzly. themale grizzly tricks boog and escapes from the circus and goes to theforest where boog lives and resides as the king. the male grizzly whosename is dough gets caught and elliot and the gang goes for the rescue!

Boog finds out he has everything he wants where he is. I didnt like first one, this was funny. Good for whole fam. I say B

After the guys back out of a trip Boog (Voice of Epps) wonders whatelse is in the world. When Boog finds a traveling circus full of bearshe thinks he found the perfect place, until he learns they will begoing back to Russia. When his friends find out they go on a rescuemission led be Elliot (Voice of McHale). I was not a big fan of OpenSeason 1 and never saw Open Season 2, but I really liked this one. Itwas made for kids, but had enough jokes in it to keep me entertainedand laughing with them. Not really a lot to review here as it is a kidsmovie, but I will say its fun for the whole family. I give it a B. Mykids give it a B+.

Apart from two characters, this ones not worth bothering with

Although it was less than perfect, I enjoyed the first Open Season. Thesecond was bland but had its moments. Apart from two characters, Rogerwho I've always liked and is quite fun here and Fifi mainly for CrispinGlover, Open Season 3 is a mess. The animation is mostly sub-par, thebackground art needed more fluidity and the character designs areblocky. The music has some jaunty moments but overall forgettable. Thewriting is poor, the jokes are neither clever or witty and the dialogueis a vast majority of the time unfunny. The story is thin, predictableand I think rushed too, and the characters apart from Fifi and Rogerare no longer likable and cute. The voice acting is mostly lifeless, with the replacement for Billy Connolly's accent embarrassinglyoverdone. In conclusion, not recommended at all sadly. 2/10 Bethany Cox

Memorable, worthy, but not perfect

Open Season 3 was a good movie. By way of yahoo movie ratings I'd actually go a step further and say that it was memorable, because it definitly was, and therefore deserves that rating and title. It was one of the better family movies, and it was short and funny enough for your six year old (or rather my six year old) not to lose interest. It wasn't however perfect, neither does it come close to claiming "almost perfect" and it doesn't even come within 12 million miles (that's halfway around the earth for those of you who don't recognize, or find signifigance in that number) of claiming a spot on my personal best five movies I've ever seen in life list. However, that being said, I don't think the last 75 minutes I spent watching it were waisted either. The story was memorable, a B+ I'd say. It started with the somewhat depressing realization that somethings in life have to be taken care of before fun can commence, then moved on to the blatant denial of that fact, the quickly getting drunk as means of that denial, making a rash and ultimatly stupid (but not bad) decision, falling in love, and then having friends that are so close and trustworthy that they fix pretty much all of the problems that arose. It had a happy ending, that my family and kids enjoyed, and it had mature bits in it that I enjoyed too. All together it was slightly better than good. The acting fit together very well with the characters and moods of the movie. I'm not going to say it was perfect, not going to say it deserves an oscar, but it certainly got noticed by me. I'd give it a solid A. (Which in my mind is as close as you can come to an oscar, without actually getting one)The direction was good, not better than good, but not worse either. It was sometimes had to tell where they were going, or what the point was. But all in all I thought they did a good job. I give it a B.The visuals were about what you'd expect from a sony-pictures animated movie. The lip-sync was all good, it looked as real as it could have, I'm just not one for animated movies. I give it a C+.Overall I think it was a very good movie. Again, not going to be a highlight of your year, but not going to be 75 waisted minutes either. If you need to kill an hour and a half, and your family happens to be with you, I recomend watching it. It was good ... well ... hey, it was better. Overall B+. Watch it if you get a chance.

Open Season 3 is a TOTAL BUST

I got this film from Netflix and I thought that this third film SUCKED. Not disastrously SUCKED because I've seen worse movies than this garbage but it just sucked. Also, there was RARELY, and I mean RARELY any interaction between Boog and Elliot. Seriously? they rarely interacted in this film. They could've come up with a plot better than a circus plot because it most certainly didn't work. I give "Open Season 3" a C- and 1.5 out of 4 stars. The first 2 Open Season films were much more funnier and WAY better than this third film. I only laughed like 3 times in this film and that's it but I even the parts I laughed at weren't all that funny. The animation is super cheap in this third film and it's worse than "Open Season 2". At least, the animation in "Open Season 2" is tolerable while this is definitely not tolerable. "Open Season 3" is also one of the worst animated movies I've ever seen. PLEASE, if you want to get a really good laugh, watch "Open Season" and "Open Season 2" but please don't watch "Open Season 3". The plot is boring and sucked, the animation is cheap, and everything is just bad. I'm so glad that I don't own this third film on DVD because I own the first two movies and I'm sticking to that. I'm definitely not going to buy this third film now. "Open Season 3" is a disappointment. :(

I thought the movie was wonderful.... a great use of my time!

I loved this movie..... the plot was funny and my grandson and Ienjoyed it.... as it is an animated movie for children! However, Iguess I must be a big kid because I was locked on to it until the end!The relationship between the bear and the deer was complicated, howeverit showed how complex friendships can be. The movie also highlights howfriendships change when one of the friends gets married or has alifestyle change. I think it has a good message for kids. Also, themovie shows a female in a "control-type" role, I liked this quality. The 'mom' took care of everything, and made sure that the family wasworking correctly... so much like real life. I could see how young kidscould relate to this... Now I can't wait to see 1 and 2!
