A study in sheer craftsmanship
Oliver Stone's "JFK" is an extremely well directed, edited and photographed film. Its editing and cinematography won well-deserved Oscars. It is amazing how Stone manages to include so much information and actually creating momentum out of them. Despite the fact that it throws all sorts of rumours and theories about the Kennedy-assasination at us (and this over three hours long), the film is never confusing or boring. Another asset is John Williams' very good score. The only weaknesses of "JFK" are the rather uninspired treatment of Garrison's family life and Garrison's overly sentimental oration at the end of the movie. But such knitpicking pales in the face of ambition and achievement on offer. "JFK" was attacked for just creating new rumours instead of enlightening the case, but films must first of all be captivating, not historically accurate. They are pieces of art which show the vision of an artist. If you want hard facts, read history books, the appropriate medium for that. As a piece of innovative cinema, "JFK" is superior.

Ollie - you whacky guy!
First, as a movie, you can't do better than JFK. In fact, it would be hard to do better than Stone, period, in terms of movie making. This guy is a fantastic director (and writer) - imaginative, original, courageous and much more. This movie will absolutely keep you riveted to your seat. In many ways, like Stone's "The Doors" (a five star effort), it will blow your mind. Stone's creativity, compared to the crap spewing out of Hollywood these days, is truly remarkable. So, why two stars? The allegations this movie makes (and don't be fooled by Stone's baloney that the movie gives multiple points of view - Stone's point of view, not subtly delivered, is that the U.S. government whacked Kennedy) are so absurd, when compared to the actual facts, as to be comical. The completely unfunny part is that many in our illiterate society - particularly the young - will take this crap as real history. The threads of coincidences, etc. which Stone, through nut-case Garrison's character (well played, as usual, by Costner), tries to morph into facts are so blatantly ridiculous (if you have taken any time at all to read about or study the Kennedy assassination) that your mind may be blown in this respect, also. To hear Stone tell it at the time of the movie's promotion, Kennedy was killed and the Warren commission illegally and under-handedly threw out the lone gunman as fact and no one in positions of responsibility ever challenged that conclusion (an assertion Dan Rather did a great job of exposing as false in an interview with Stone). It would be easy, but probably boring, to point out all of the absurdities in this film - for they are legion. So, my advice would be to 1) enjoy the flick, but give it no more credence as history than you would The Wizard of Oz; 2) if you are interested in the Kennedy Assassination, refer to the plethora of great books, documentaries, etc., which are available from all points of view; last, as with all things Oliver Stone, consider the source. He is a genius in many ways, but not one who has ever been a champion of truth...oh, and that Joe Pesci - HOLY COW!

Flawed but intriguing rumination on political events
No one could ever expect a cinematic representation of historicalevents to be completely objective - film is an indisputably subjectivemedium, and the 'voice' of the director and producers are bound toalways shine through. But objectivity is one thing, and Oliver Stone isits polar opposite. Instead of Stone's powerhouse film-making style andfierce political convictions adding substance and energy to JFK, histake on the infamous assassination and its aftermath, it is Stone'sself-righteous and self-indulgent hammering of the material thatinhibit the film from being the intelligent and compelling politicalinvestigation piece it could have been. As it is, while JFK could beconsidered a solid thesis on Stone's perspective on the events, as afilm it struggles to hold up amidst the torrent of its own flaws. Stone may never have had the pretense of disguising his perception ofthe events of the JFK assassination and the alleged ensuing conspiracyas cold hard fact, but he certainly seems determined to beat hisaudience over the head with his side of the story to the point ofbewildered acceptance. Stone's incredibly forceful portrayal of his ownperspective, pitching his film directly to heartfelt American sentiment(even going so far as to have Costner directly address the camera whenspeaking of American liberty) has the final outcome emerge as just ashade away from propaganda. Stone's work tends to attract a "love it orhate it" reaction, but with a film this shamelessly self-congratulatingand painfully biased, it is distinctly hard to love it, plaudits ornot. Apart from Stone's own stance on the material, speaking strictly infilm-making terms, JFK also finds itself lacking. Excruciatingly longand unreasonably "talky" (especially near the film's climax, whereKevin Costner talks for literally half an hour straight... no joke) andmaking use of an abundance of unreasonably clichéd patriotic sequencesenough to make one's stomach queasy, Stone's film is far tooself-indulgent to make its proper effect. Seldom arises the complaintthat a director needs to simplify their work, but given the relativelysimple plot ensuing, Stone sure manages to complicate the hell out ofit, clarified with a series of incredibly contrived play-by-plays byGarrison and his team. While it is abundantly clear that Stone has donehis research on the case, and it is easy to get swept up in the storyto a degree, one can't help but wish that he had not found it necessaryto include every last scrap of information regarding it - as such, thefilm feels like it is overflowing at the seams with factualinformation, often thrust so rapid fire into the audience's face thatthey have no time to process or internalize it. It is a shame indeedthat the content of the film is so disappointingly brought to life, asJFK's technical work is laudable indeed, making use of terrificcinematography and editing (although the initially effective montagesequences, complimented with real historical footage do grow tiresomeafter being steadily overused as the film progresses) even if thenormally reliable John Williams' score overloads on patriotic musicalclichés to a nauseating extent. The astonishing array of talented actors substantially raise thequality of the film as a whole. While Kevin Costner as patrioticAmerican everyman DA Jim Garrison is bland at best, painfully trite atworst and unquestionably given far too much screen time, the wonderfulsupporting cast are more than enough to carry the dead weight of thefilm's lead. Tommy Lee Jones, in a distinctly different role from hisusual casting is electrifying as ominous influential businessman ClayShaw, with a cold menace simmering beneath his character's flamboyantexterior. Gary Oldman of course effortlessly steals the show as allegedassassin Lee Harvey Oswald - seen mostly in flashbacks, Oldman'smeticulous dedication in fully inhabiting his characters is used tochilling and compelling effect. Backed by dynamic performances from JoePesci, Donald Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, Jack Lemmon, John Candy andWalter Matthau, all superb when given their moment to shine, the film'ssupporting cast raises the bar in terms of quality considerably.Unfortunately, Sissy Spacek is wasted in a banal subplot as Garrison'swife, adding a nauseatingly by the numbers "obsession endangers familylife" theme to an already overlong film. As Stone dollops on the sapand Spacek overacts to her heart's content, backed up by absurdlyuntalented child actors as their children, the family sequences areamong the film's most painful and unnecessary. Keeping in mind that appreciation of Oliver Stone's films does tend tobe just as subjective as his own cinematic stance, it becomes difficultto dispute JFK being far too overlong, overstuffed with dialogue andbombarded by offensively clichéd sequences to be anywhere near aseffective as it ought to have been. While intriguing in itspresentation of a distinctly one sided rumination on the eventsfollowing the assassination and complimented with brilliant technicalwork and impressive performances from its supporting cast, Stone'sdistinctive slant is what drags the film down from being the tautpolitical work it could have been, resulting in a fact bloated, lopsided and self-indulgent portrayal of American history.-5/10

BRILLIANT THRILLER
The last words he heard were, "You can't say Dallas doesn't love you, Mr. Kennedy." The sky was blue and the sun was shining as gun shots echoed in Dealey Plaza. At that moment, all he was fated to be was done and his self-named Camelot vanished. Immortalized in death, the man became a myth, and a mystery was given life.Oliver Stone's JFK -- DIRECTOR'S CUT (Warner Home Video) is a new two-disc Special Edition with an extraordinary commentary track by Stone that explores in detail the paradoxes and enigmas of Kennedy's assassination and aftermath. New to this edition is the superb feature-length documentary, BEYOND JFK: The Question of Conspiracy. If everything in this movie were fiction, it would still rank as one of the great political thrillers. This superior piece of filmmaking that looks behind the mirror at the moment in American culture when our collective paradigm truly shifted. Highest recommendation.

The day the Heavens fell on Oliver Stone.
The most trusted man in America Mr Walter Cronkite called the film JFK "a tissue of lies".Indeed, from the false opening scenes where a man cops a beating for'snooping'(he was actually beaten over a gambling debt)to the final scene where Garrison leaves the court with his family(he was actually in his office when the verdict was announced),the film is a lie followed by more lies.We have scenes where a woman in a hospital warns about the upcoming assassination(never happened)to a co-conspirator and possible witness found murdered(never happened). We have Garrison going to Washington to meet an officer that was in New Zealand at the time of the shooting(never happened). The court statement that the shots lasted 5.6 seconds is false and the Zapruder film clearly shows that 9 seconds went by.The sound evidence about other shots being fired, mentioned at the end of the film, has now been found to be in error. But the best example of what a dishonest film and director we have here is the 'grassy knoll' scene.Try as he might, director Oliver Stone could not find a gun that would make enough smoke to be seen by witnesses. Now,does it occur to Oliver Stone that if he couldn't find such a gun then why would an assassin use one? No,instead Oliver then got a man to blow smoke from a bellows to simulate the smoke. Some critics say that sums up the film, full of hot air.The film ends with a line written by a Hollywood writer-Garrison is shown saying "let the truth be known or the Heavens fall".Mr Garrison wasn't even at the court at the time of the announced verdict,he was in his office at the time.Mr Stone has the gall to talk about truth when he makes up facts.Oliver Stone has since made other films that have had their historical accuracy questioned.

A comprehensive telling of an event that changed US history.
Based on two books, one about New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison and the other a collection of all the fact based theories, the film gives a chilling, if not sinister look before, during and after the incident that changed America. This is a must see for those interested in US history. It makes you think about what politics was about then and now and the impact of the incident on our lives as Americans.Although Oliver Stone took some liberties in telling the story I think it is a relevant take on what happened and what impact the event had on politics today. Just look at what's going on in Washington even today as you read this.Although the theatrical version was already lenghty, the addition of the edited 17 minutes (making the film's length 206 minutes), I think, fleshes out the story better than with the deletions. A must for your DVD collection if you are a history buff or are interested in the politics of the US.

Masterpiece
This is surely Oliver Stones' tour de france, which showshe is a film-making genius. To turn such a complex topic into entertainment has to be admired, greatcast.Amazingly the film stands the test of time - I had forgotten how old thisfilm was! It still looks and edited as if it was madenow!I only have one statement regarding the politics, there are some verystrange things going on.All I can say:"The truth is out there"...If our world is based on lies, there really is no point toanything.I think like everyone else, we are forcefully put into a rat-race to evencare, and as time goes by, we will even care less.Oliver Stones' film will probably all that is left. Everything else willhave died, or been destroyed.

A Monumental Achievement
... This movie is truly a breakthrough because it challengesthe cowardice and silence of the American people regarding the JFKassassination, while also portraying excellent characters, each with their own unique characteristics. The cinematography, pace, and dialogue make this film absolutely mesmerizing. ... Stone has done extensive research on the assassination using both books and human sources that were involved in the American government at that time. I suggest that you read Stone's counter to historian's criticisms in the book "Oliver Stone's USA". Of course, he does not possess all the facts regarding the Kennedy assassination, but he has used numerous resources to speculate on the mysterious death.... Read up on the CIA's secret histories and then decide the logic for yourself...

Oliver Stones masterpiece
Now that some time has passed and the dust has settled, JFK can be looked at as a movie that is NOT historically accurate portrayl of what went down on that fateful day in Dallas, but rather an engaging, nail-biting thriller.Whether you agree or disagree with Stone's view, there is no disputing the craftsmenship that went into this film. The use of multiple film stocks that create layers upon layers of interpretation of the events depicted. The editing alone is masterful as Stone juggles many subplots at once. Robert Richardson's cinematography is incredible (there's a reason why he won the Academy Award that year) and has become Stone's signature look. And there is the cast: Kevin Costner does a fine job as the Gary Cooper-ish Jim Garrison who doggedly pursues his investigation. From here on in, there is a staggering who's who of big name and character actors filling in major and minor roles: Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau, Tommy Lee Jones, Kevin Bacon, Vincent D'Onofrio, Gary Oldman, Joe Pesci, and the list goes on. Everybody does a great job and give the film an authenticity and believability. This new, 2-DVD set is a HUGE improvement over the old, single flipper-disc. The entire movie (Stone's preferred cut) is now on one side and included is a fascinating audio commentary by Stone who manages to keep it going for the entire running time! His commentaries have always been a real treat to listen to and he does not disappoint on this one.The highlight of disc two is a nice collection of deleted and extended scenes with commentary by Stone. It's pretty obvious why they were cut but nice that he included them. This is a DVD that should be in every movie lover's collection. It's an important work and a cinematic landmark. It's influence can be felt in the TV show, 24 and the made-for-TV movie, The Pentagon Papers. I would also recommend picking up the annotated screenplay to the film which acts as the perfect companion to the film.

The Conspiracy
I don't have an opinion on the events of November 22 1963, perhaps its because I don't live in America or had not yet been born. In spite of that I have always found this story intriguing. While it does make you think there are some scenes in the film which make you think that Garrison is incredibly naive. Nevertheless, the final half hour is gripping as his theory of events unfolds. The picture quality of the DVD is excellent and the sound is good. On the negative side this DVD not only lacks any features it is also a flipper. I don't mind too much as after the first 100 minutes the break was welcome. For those who hate flippers or want features - avoid this one.

Golden Globe winning, and Oscar nominated director Oliver Stone wasnaturally the perfect choice for this magnificent film focusing on oneof the most devastating events in American political history, and I hadto watch it. The film opens with narration by Martin Sheen about thelife of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, leading from 1961 tillNovember 22nd 1963 when he was shockingly shot and killed. The story, made up from both fact and opinion, sees District Attorney Jim Garrison(Golden Globe nominated Kevin Costner) return after three years sincethe incident to find who was responsible in as many fields of themurder as possible. He interviews all people who were connected to thekey suspect, also murdered, Lee Harvey Oswald (Gary Oldman), includingDavid Ferrie (Joe Pesci), Jack Martin (Jack Lemmon), Senator Long(Walter Matthau), Dean Andrews (John Candy), Willie O'Keefe (KevinBacon) and X (Donald Sutherland). All these witnesses lead Garrison tocharging Clay Shaw (Oscar and BAFTA nominated Tommy Lee Jones) withstrong connection to the assassination, and he is preparing to have ahopeful conclusion made in a trial. This investigation is puttingstrain on Garrison's relationship with wife Liz (Sissy Spacek) andtheir kids, but he is determined to have justice brought to Americawith his passion for the terrible event. In the end, Shaw was found notguilty, and according to the end text, Garrison continued to try andfind the truth, and apparently true facts of Kennedy's assassinationwill be revealed by the year 2027. Also starring Jay O. Sanders as LouIvon, Michael Rooker as Bill Broussard, Laurie Metcalf as Susie Cox,Gary Grubbs as Al Oser, Edward Asner as Guy Bannister, BrianDoyle-Murray as Jack Ruby, Sally Kirkland as Rose Cheramie, BeataPozniak as Marina Oswald, Vincent D'Onofrio as Bill Newman, the realJim Garrison as Earl Warren, Wayne Knight as Numa Bertel, Tony Plana asCarlos Bringuier, Dale Dye as General Y and Bob Gunton as TV Newsman#3. It is unknown of course whether Oswald acted alone or as part of ateam, but this film does make a very plausible account of events. Witha fantastic cast list, terrific use of archive footage, not just ofKennedy, but also some Fidel Castro, Martin Luther King and Malcolm X,this is a magnificent political thriller that I would definitelyrecommend. It won the Oscars for Best Cinematography and Best FilmEditing, and it was nominated for Best Music for John Williams, BestSound, Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Mediumfor Stone and Zachary Sklar and Best Picture, it won the BAFTAs forBest Editing and Best Sound, and it was nominated for Best AdaptedScreenplay, and it was nominated the Golden Globes for Best MotionPicture - Drama and Best Screenplay. Kevin Costner was number 93 on The100 Greatest Movie Stars. Very good!

Definitely one to see, easily one to remember..
If you don't come out of this movie knowing in your heart of hearts thatthere was no conspiracy involved in the killing of John F. Kennedy, then youprobably work for the government. But then you have to realize that the story is loosely based on fact andthat despite that it may not be true, it is truly an incrediblemovie. The editing in the movie was phenomenal, quick clips and flash photos ofscenes from the assassination coupled with an amazing musical score make thefilm one of the most intense experiences in movies you might have. And itlasts for 3 hours, to boot! I for one, am not a fan of long movies ingeneral, but in most cases I come out of it truly satisfied that the moviewas definitely worth my time, and "JFK" is definitely one of them. Thefinal court scene, involving Kevin Costner gradually unravelling theevidence he has found and in the process, unravelling the American public'sconfidence in its government, is one of the great scenes in film, considering its length. In this forum I have given "JFK" a 10 rating, on my personal scale, about a9.3

a gripping tale of one mans quest to find the truth about the murder of president John Fitzgerald Kennedy on November 22nd 1963 a great film.
Starring Kevin Costner as district attorny Jim Garrison the only man toever make a trial looking at the murder of Kennedy .JFK opens with a haunting montage of real footage of the Kennedy familyand images from America and Cuba of Castro , Kennedy and other worldleaders with a voice over from actor Martin Sheen ( who once playedPresident Kennedy in a TV mini series) then a woman is thrown from acar screaming " don't leave me here come back " but they drive off andshe is taken to hospital where she keeps saying "their going to killKennedy their going to Dallas on Friday their going to kill Kennedy"then it moves to that haunting footage from November 22 1963 of JFK andJackie walking around talking to people and Jackie is given a bouquetof red roses. Then we have footage showing the motorcade going throughDallas people waving, a gun shot is heard and then a CBS news bulletincomes on explaining Kennedy has been shot and then it flicks to NewOrleans and from then on its Kevin Costners show. He is great in thisfilm he delivers his lines well and gives a stunning performance asGarrison .Other stars are Gary Oldman as Lee Harvy Oswald , SissySpacek as Elizabeth Garrison, Tommy Lee Jones as Clay Shaw , Joe Pescias David Ferrie and Donald Sutherland as X the former army official whoassists Garrison with some details about the day. John Williams musicis excellent and stays in the memory Oliver Stone has directed aclassic film I have brought this and recommend it to other people it isworth buying or renting.Although do not take everything in it as thecomplete truth.

Fact? Fiction? its riveting, mesmerizing, provoking
The acting is superb. Great cast of actors. The dialogue keeps you on the edge of your seat. How true is it to the facts? Are the CIA and FBI this devious, I mean, assassinate the President of the United States? The Kennedys were a Greek tragedy. Their story is high art. This film captures their privledged world and the high stakes of the underworld as they collide into high drama. I've seen this film at least a dozen times. I feel stunned every time I see it. The assassination is one thing. The cover up, if true, implicates the whole government to some degree. If this film is only fifty percent accurate, that's more than you'll want to believe. You almost want to bury your head when this film is over, but you won't be able to. I strongly recommend this film to anyone who dares to think and be challenged.

Fact or Fiction?
As testament to how cleverly Oliver Stone's JFK was made, most peoplecannot distinguish where the real footage facts stop, and thestorytelling and director's artistic license begin. A History Channeldocumentary even attributed the public's overwhelming belief in a JFKassassination conspiracy to Oliver Stone's 1991 film. While it isimportant to remember that the movie is a dramatic work of fiction, itis certainly fun to watch and gives rise to several good questionsabout the assassination of JFK. The cast is quite amazing--Kevin Costner, Kevin Bacon, Sissy Spacek,John Candy, Tommy Lee Jones and others, topped off with a John Williamsfilm score are cause enough for me to recommend this film. Save 3 hoursand watch JFK

JFK A Must See Film, Rare 10 out of 10, and Want to See More Like It
"JFK" is Oliver Stone at his best.It is one of the few docudramas I could watch again and again, and findsomething new and interesting. It covers a single tragedy effecting theUnited States that is only surpassed by the events on 9/11/2001. I amsurprised when this movie is compared to "Nixon", because this movie isfar and away superior to Mr. Stone's "Nixon" in every area.I was only a fifth grader when this event took place, but became moreinterested as I learned about the lack of integrity in government andthe media in reporting history, as well as, the plans JFK had to reformthe corruption in the "intelligence" agencies, while restoringintegrity to the United States in many areas. I may not agree withJFK's view of the United Nations, but find I do agree or at leastunderstand his decision making based on what was known at the time, andbelieve his decisions were made in the best interest of the citizens asopposed to the crony capitalists who replaced him, and created ourcurrent morally and financially bankrupt state run by banks and globalelitists.Unfortunately, studying the JFK assassination beyond this movie leadsyou down an unending "rabbit hole" of new evidence that confirms aconspiracy, but never provides a clear picture of everything thathappened regarding the actual assassination details. There are numerouspossibilities for sniper sites, exotic technical details, andunexplained significant details. This makes focusing on the only trialof the assassination conspirators pure genius. The story's focus is on Jim Garrison, New Orleans District Attorney, and his legitimate concern and investigation of the assassinationconspirators who had recently resided in New Orleans. It also showsthat he completely underestimated the power and resources of thoseopposing his investigation. He first believes that the Warren Commission and FBI will do anadequate job of investigating the assassination, but finds that theresults were either a cover-up or completely incompetent. He begins hisinvestigation three years late due to his trust in the federal agenciesbased on his experience as a former FBI agent and military officer. Healso tries to maintain a low profile until the investigation iscompleted, and does not question Jack Ruby (Rubinstein) before Rubytakes his information to the grave. It is a story of a heroic effort to find and face the truth, and toprosecute the guilty while being undermined at every step by the mediaand federal government. Once Mr. Garrison questions Clay Shaw and findsthat he is also "Clay Bertrand", both elimination of witnesses and amulti-media campaign kick off to derail his investigation and caseagainst Clay Shaw (the only local conspirator left alive).Jim Garrison received little cooperation from the feds, but was able toobtain a near original version of the Zapruder film from Time-Life, andpresent a case that exposed a conspiracy, even if he could not convictClay Shaw. Shaw was dead by 1974. One point that was not covered waswhy the Texas Attorney General or Dallas District Attorney had not donea better job of investigating the assassinations of JFK and Oswald. Itis now known that Shaw was a OSI and CIA operative and that theZapruder film has been altered within a few days of being purchased byTime-Life, a CIA contractor. It is also interesting to note that thereis no evidence that Lee Harvey Oswald even touched any rifle on Nov.22, 1963, so explaining how he was even suspected for the assassinationand who provided the police a description are still a mysteries.Although the movie does not cover all the reasons that PresidentKennedy was gunned down, it does present most related to his clash withthe CIA and the military industrial complex. It also presents a clearerpicture of what actually is known about what happened at Dealey Plazain Dallas including the crowd reaction toward the fence on the "grassyknoll", and the complete removal of all the usual and expectedprotection by the Secret Service and the undercover military units thatwould have reduced the chance of assassination by rifle shot to nearzero. The fact that the movie resulted in more records being released anddeclassified is a tribute to the impact of this "must see" project. TheDVD extras are also valuable presentations.

Crime Of The Century
The assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas on November 22,1963 probably ranks as the darkest day in American 20th century history. What makes it particularly sad is that nowhere near all the details abouthis murder have ever been released to the public. Before Oliver Stone ever came out with "JFK" the movie, few people believedthe Warren Commission's claim that Lee Harvey Oswald acted killed Kennedy onhis own volition. There was also a good case to be made that Oswald wasnothing more than a patsy in a very devious conspiracy, and that he didn'teven do it. Note that all of this was BEFORE the release of "JFK." Thefirestorm of controversy the film created only served to add to thedebate.Stone's epic, 205-minute movie, which details the efforts of New Orleans DAJim Garrison (Kevin Costner) to unravel at least a part of the conspiracy bytrying to tie in local business magnate Clay Shaw (Tommy Lee Jones) to it,levels some pretty heavy judgments against those who would cling to theOswald-did-it-alone-theory. Not all of the theories that Stone espouseshere are believable, but a number of scenarios are raised that could veryeasily have happened in reality. Was JFK's murder possibly even anelaborate coup d'etat, a theory raised by Mr. X (Donald Sutherland)? WasKennedy actually trying to end the Cold War while in office, putting themilitary/industrial complex in fear for its very existence? Would he havehalted America's involvement in Vietnam? All the questions and theories get a thorough going-over. Nobody's going tomistake "JFK" for a documentary, to be sure. And certainly there willalways be apologists for the Warren Commission, like Gerald Posner, even asits theories have credibility holes big enough to drive a truck through. But in the end, "JFK" is riveting filmmaking pure and simple, well worthy ofthe Oscars it got for cinematography and editing. And get a load of thepeople Stone put into his film: Jack Lemmon, John Candy, Sissy Spacek, SallyKirkland, Walter Matthau, Kevin Bacon, Ed Asner. With all of this, Stone, like Stanley Kubrick, made a film that startedpeople talking...and one that they're STILL talking about after ten years. RATING: 8/10.
