I saw the movie over five years ago on the TV, at the first I thought it is a kind of a cheap drama.However I watched it over over again, I recognized I loved it.What funny about this movie is Sandler's anger reaction.I think angrying is a key of his performance.And co-staring is so good, his grand mother, coach, golf rival, etc.If you like Sandler, don't miss it!

Better than Tin Cup.

Adam Sandler plays Happy Gilmore a doofus hockey player finds that he cansmash a golf ball 400 yards and joins the PGA tour. Carl Weathers is thehas-been golf player who discovers Gilmore's gift of smashing golf balls,Christopher McDonald plays the annoyed golf champion, and Julie Bowen playsthe public relations expert that Gilmore falls in love with. Tin Cup wasmade in the same year as this movie, but the jokes and having Bob Barker inHappy Gilmore worked for the film. I do not know how many times I saw thefilm, but never bored watch it.

Adam Sandler in his element

"Happy Gilmore" is one of those movies that you end up watching many timesin your life. Someone will always own it, have rented it, or brought italong in some situation in your life. That's because this movie is justplain funny. Adam Sandler plays what he plays best, a guy whom seems like ajerk, but ends up being really sweet. Sandler plays Happy Gilmore, alow-luck hockey player with no skill, but an incredible slapshot. Hisparents are both dead and the person he goes to for advice or comfort is hisgrandma. She, however, hasn't paid her taxes in years, and gets her houserepossessed by the bank. Happy stumbles on golfing, and finds that he hasan extraordinary talent for driving the ball incredibly far. To get money,he joins the PGA tour. His lead rival, Shooter McGavin, buys Happy'sgrandma's home to make him quit, but they drive a bargain. If Happy can winthe PGA tour, the house is his again. The results are hilarious. Thismovie is an Adam Sandler must-see, right up there with "BillyMadison".

Great, great comedy.

One of the best comedies I've ever seen. the best part is 'You're in bigtrouble, little pal, I eat pieces of s**t like you for breakfast!' "Youeat pieces of s**t for breakfast?!"Cracked me up. I love it, because it turns an incredibly boring sport likegolf into a hilarious comedy. Starring Adam Sandler, of all people, whosecareer isn't exactly filled with blockbusters.

Pretty good movie

I like this movie. Happy Gilmore goes from a down-on-his luck hockey player to coming out of nowhere and being a pretty darn good professional golfer. The comedy in this movie is also very colorful, too. This movie is basically Adam Sandler at his best. Carl Weathers (he played Chubbs) hasn't come off this good in a movie since his role as Apollo Creed in the classic Rocky movies. I love this comedic masterpiece and this movie ranks right up there with Big Daddy, the Waterboy, and Billy Madison (other great Sandler masterpieces). And always remember to keep this thought in mind-GRIZZLY ADAMS DID HAVE A BEARD!

Happy Gilmore, Come on Down

The first time you see this movie, you will be laughing until yoursides hurt. From the first scene until the last. Adam Sandler is justhilariously funny in this Greater than Caddyshack golf movie. Yes,"Happy Gilmore" is just that good.Who the heck is Happy Gilmore? It's easy, he's a hockey player whoplays a mean game of golf. That's right, golf. Except those times whenfans are taunting him or running onto the golf course, that is.And when you add a celebrity television star who can beat the crap outof him, it's just that much better. Bob Barker plays a cameo role in"Happy Gilmore" who gets fed up with Happy's game of golf, which endsthem up in last place.The only reason Happy even played the game was to help his sweet oldgrandmother get her house back. And of course, to kick butt on thecourse as well. With help from Chubbs.....anyway. Shooter is not muchof a sportsman when it comes to losing either. Wow, look at him run.So, come on down, be a winner, and watch "Happy Gilmore", and believeit or not, you will have a happy time.

I Am So Dang Happy I Saw This Here Movie!

I just watched the dang movie Happy Gilmore, starring the brilliant Adam Sandler. It was mostly a "happy" viewing, but there was some dang aggravation. You see, while I was this dang movie, I kept hearing a dang rat in the attic. It was so dang loud and annoying that is kept distracting me. But after a dang while, I forgot all about that dang critter and starting focusing on my dang Adam Sandler movie. This was a heck of a dang funny movie. Not as dang funny as Baseketball, but it's funny enough. In it, Adam Sandler plays a dang golfer. And believe it or not, I am not a dang golf fan. The only dang thing I know about golf is that Tiger Woods plays it, and he cheated on his wife with several dang broads. And Christopher McDonald plays one heck of a dang douchebag in this movie. By the end of this dang movie, I wanted to Christopher his McDonald if you know what the heck I mean. Anyway, I liked Happy Gilmore. And if any of ya'll disagree with me, ya'll can kiss my dang grits!!

adam sandlers 100 best film

i saw this film in orlando on fox and thought what i saw was very funny and then bought it and saw it all.i didnt know adam sandler when i saw this but its brilliant.all the jokes are funny and adam along with quincy jr and christopher mc donald are great.its a feel good film and never gets boring.if you enjoy adam's other work like the wedding singer you will love this much better. if you have only seen the dire BILLY MADISON than forget it and see this comedy classic.

My familys favorite Adam Sandler movie!

This review is from: Happy Gilmore (Widescreen Special Edition) (DVD) If you aren't one who faints at the sound of 10 million swear words (give or take a few), had a bad day and need to let off some steam, try this movie. It releases a lot of pent-up angst as you laugh along at AS's character and his *serious* anger management issues. And the scene with Bob Barker? Priceless!! Our family still talks about it years later, and since we borrowed it out and never got it back, I'm here at amazon buying it again. I don't do that with many movies. I almost decided to Netflix (rent) it, but I know we'll want to watch it whenever we want, so I'm springing for the DVD.But don't watch it with younger kids who may go around imitating AS's angry mood swings. Wait until they can watch it & understand that it is funny because we just can't do those angry public displays (but may want to, sometimes!); or watch it with your more mature family members. (My son & I waited until my husband left the house. --just kidding ;)

Golf doesnt get any funnier

Aside from Caddyshack, I don't think that a golf movie has ever made melaugh as hard as I did when this came out, and that's saying something.Contrary to what the DVR may say about this movie, it's actually worthwatching all the way to the end; it's one of those movies where youdon't have to think too hard to appreciate it.Admittedly, all the networks that play this edited don't do it justice;Of course, that's the case with most movies on network TV. Stay awayfrom them.If I could mention any flaws with this movie, it'd be what I justmentioned above. Other than that, this was a very well-made movie.9/10

STILL IS JUST A FUN FLICK

HAPPY GILMOREOne of the all time classics that people either love or hate, I fall into the love category. This film is just straight fun to me, no brain power and interesting situations and characters make for a good time. Sure the humor is juvenile and some times stupid but that is the point. It is a straight forward comedy and for some reason I love it. Plus you have to love anything that says "it's all in the hips".Happy Gilmore is a hockey player want to be who doesn't have all the skills necessary but has a great slap shot. One day he finds out that his grandmother is loosing her house and there is nothing really he can do about it. That is until he discovers golf after making a bet with some guys and drives the ball farther than either of them can. After one of them makes a simple little comment he decides to try his hand at golf, well once he learns that he can make the "big bucks". So off Happy goes trying to win as much money as possible to save his grandmothers house.This still to this day is one of my favorite movies because, well I don't know why but I love it for some reason. Could be that I am a huge hockey fan or maybe because Bob Barker beats up Adam Sandler but I love it. It could of course also be that Christopher McDonald is perfect as Shooter and Ben Stiller is an excellent villain here as well, maybe it is all of that. Any way this movie is not for everybody but for those who get it they will love it.Written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy and directed by Dennis Dugan "Happy Gilmore" is one of those flicks that is just dumb fun. If you like it you like it if you don't you don't, it doesn't really matter, for those who do love it. Sandler was at an all time best here in fact I think his earlier films are his best ones, well at least the most fun. McDonald is perfect as Shooter like I mentioned earlier, I have always liked that kind of jerk villain in a movie. Ben Stiller is as well great here as the guy at the nursing home that is supposed to take care of Happy's grandmother. Of course Carl Weathers is brilliant as well as is Allen Covert, he may just be a scene stealer and he really doesn't have any lines.I am sure if you are no Sandler fan you are reading this rolling your eyes but I think you have it in you to like this flick. Any one who goes into this with the brain off and realizes that this film is just dumb fun then I think they will enjoy it. Sure it may not be a perfect movie but it is a fun one. I say give it a try if you never have and if you have give it one more. You may just end up at least being entertained by it.

Great fun

I'm an Adam Sandler fan. I'm also a mom. Sometimes, I want those thingsto be able to mix. This is one movie I was comfortable sharing with my12-year-old son. (Parents, please watch this one before you let yourkids see it if you are conservative!) He gets a kick out of watchingHappy overreact to the things that happen to him in this flick. My sonalso knows not to take Adam Sandler movies seriously. That's one of thegreat things about him. He can enjoy a movie that isn't considered"Oscar quality" and not put it down just for that reason. I found thismovie hilarious and watch it often. Some of the cameos were cute. Checkout a famous game show host golfing with Happy. The acting was a bitwooden, but game show hosts don't get their job for their actingtalent. You'll recognize actors that Sandler casts in all of hismovies. (And why not? Ron Howard does it, too!) The plot was cute. Ifyou hate golfing, don't worry. This movie isn't all about golf. That'swhy it's called "Happy Gilmore" instead of "Golfing with HappyGilmore". I think Happy is the "dark" side of all of us. Little holdshim back from expressing his opinion when things aren't the way hethinks they should be. It's a great "unwinding" movie. Had a bad day?Happy does the acting out for you. (If we all acted like Happy, thisworld would be a strange, violent place. But, since we aren't likeHappy, we can live vicariously through him as we watch him do thethings we only daydream about.) I watch this one when I just want tolaugh. (It really is the best medicine!)

A funny, time-wasting Sandler vehicle

This is a pass-the-time, laugh-every-few-minutes Sandler vehicle that comesoff marginally better than his first effort, BILLY MADISON, and marginallylesser than THE WEDDING SINGER. Sandler's gentleness is his greatest qualityon screen, and when he takes to screaming to no avail, it all seemsunnecessary. Here, he gives ample amounts of both, explaining thehit-or-miss feel of the film. It's a funny movie, though. I'd recommend toanyone looking for a few cheap laughs.

funny...

This is a really funny movie..... it isn't Albert Brooksor Woody Allen..... Sandler doesn't try to make you "think"... he tries tomake you laugh ..... Unfortunately, this (with the possible exception oftheWedding Singer) has been the highlight of his career, neither the waterboyor big daddy have been nearly as funny
