Stylistic action flick thats far better than average

We may have found the hidden gem of 2011. This is a movie that wasmoderately well received upon initial release, but quickly faded intoobscurity, and it probably won't show back up during awards season. However, it is a fantastic film. Saorise Ronan plays the titlecharacter, Hanna, a young girl who lives with her father Erik, playedby Eric Bana, in a hut in the woods in complete isolation. He istraining her to become a ruthless assassin for ambiguous reasons. Whenshe is dispatched on a mission across Europe she remains on the runfrom vicious agents chasing after her for reasons unbeknownst to theaudience. It's a film that takes pride in its ambiguity until it allcomes together at the end for an explosive climax that rounds out anall around excellent film.Hanna is a flick that could have easily come together as a lacklusterand underwhelming action flick that brought absolutely nothing new tothe table. But instead it sets itself apart from typical action farewith its unique storyline and fast paced, techno driven style. It is astyle that is appropriately European with its unique synthetic beatsand its flashy, jumpy, and mechanical style. It's a movie brimming withenergy and electricity, never letting its foot off the gas and nevertaking useless detours. It keeps a steadfast pace with its drivingaction and its consistently high octane style. At first Hanna seems like a film that chooses style over substance. Butas the film goes on its uniqueness from a plot standpoints growsstronger and stronger. I already mentioned the enthralling ambiguity ofthe film, as it is one of those that throws us into the middle of theaction with a back story that we have to piece together as the filmprogresses, unlocking more and more clues. It's a little difficult toget into the film at first because of its lack of initial explanationand its odd style, but as the film pieces itself together it becomes ahighly worthwhile experience. It exercises an excellent blend of styleand substance, substance often taking the lead, but never to the extentthat the film's story is left in the dust. It's very smart and verysophisticated filmmaking that has to be watched to be appreciated. If you missed Hanna when it was released early in the year then Ihighly suggest you go back and give it a watch. It's one of the finerfilms to come out this year, and it delivers a uniqueness that we don'tget enough of in strictly action films. At heart Hanna is just a funaction film, but there is enough undercurrent of excellent storytellingto make it a film of much higher quality than your formula actionflick.

Familiar tropes dressed in high style.

In life it's the journey, not the destination. In Hanna it's thestory-telling, not the story. The story is a weird mash-up of movieclichés, paranoid Bourne Identity meeting coming-of-age SixteenCandles. What makes Hannah so enjoyable is the craftsmanship of thestory-telling. It's the acting by the stunning but asexual SaoirseRonan and the not-quite-soulless Cate Blanchett. It's the visuallysophisticated photography, which is serially beautiful. It's the musicand the direction and the pace, which never flags but never rushes. The story is of a 16 year-old girl who's trained to be a killingmachine by her guardian (Eric Bana), an on-the-run CIA operative. Youcould drop Matt Damon in her role and you'd have Bourne. But layeredinto Hanna's strange trip is her discovery of what her life has beenmissing: family and relationships.Director Joe Wright has taken his assemblage of clichés andorchestrated them into both an effective action thriller and anoccasionally touching coming of age story. It's a fun ride.

Best movie of the year so far

I'll admit I didn't know what to expect from Hanna before going in. Ihad only seen the trailer once and barely remembered what was shown. And, I saw this in the D-BOX section of the screening room, which meansmotion seats. I'd figured this movie was pretty exciting if it wasgonna be shown in D-box.And, as a result, it was. This is definitely the best movie to bereleased so far this year. There's a lot of garbage floating out therelike "Your Highness" and "Red Riding Hood". Finally, a movie that isequally as thought-provoking as it is action packed and thrilling.Hanna is a 14 year old girl, an assassin since a child. She lives withher father, Erik, in a hut in the woods, who has trained her to be anassassin, and has kept her in the woods from day one, after the murderof the mother. As the film starts, "the time is right"- Hanna is readyto see the outside world, and so Erik sends her on a mission to meethim in Berlin... and to help successfully get revenge on Marissa, anAmerican intelligence agent bent on killing both Hanna and Erik. And that's all you need to know- because Hanna is a high-octane,gripping, and totally action-packed movie that, the less you knewabout, the more you will enjoy it.Saoirse Ronan is just insanely amazing as the titular character. I'llbe honest, I liked her more than Chloe Moertz in Kick-Ass. I was notsurprised to find out she did most of the action herself, because Iswear, it was just a thrill to watch. Cate Blanchett is stunning, hilarious, and sexy in her role as Marissa- and her southern drawl isgreat!!!! I actually thought she did a fantastic job. But, the realshow-stealer is Eric Bana. He was a total badass, his performance wasjust fantastic and he seemed really into it.In addition, the cinematography is great too. Gorgeous scenery and goodcamera work in the action scenes too- even the rather gimmicky upsidedown shots were great. The suspense is high throughout, there's a LOTof suspense, and the last 20 minutes are an intense nail biter, especially the twist ending.Oh, and in addition, if this is playing in a D-box theatre near you,see it. The motion seats just add to the intensity of the film.In short, do not miss this intense experience. It is by far the bestmovie to be released in 2011, and there is not a single dull moment!

Intriguing, well-made with a fantastic performance by Saoirse Ronan

I think looking back on films of this year Hanna will stand as one ofthe most interesting. I really really liked it, it's incredibly well-made with a fantasticperformance by Saoirse Ronan. Ronan has proved that she is the bestyoung actor who can be relied on for anything. She gave the bestperformance in Atonement (another Joe Wright film), which also happensto be one of the best films of its decade, and she was 1 of the only 2good things in The Lovely Bones (which was a failure). The other goodthing in that film was Stanley Tucci's performance. Here in Hanna, sheagain demonstrated an incredible ability to portray her character toher fullest. The script is rather good, very good, even great at times. However, I don't think it's an incredibly original or insightfulscript, although its much better than any writing for action filmsthese days. This isn't a brain-less film. I think Joe Wright made the film as great as it was, because he gave ita unique tone to it. It isn't an action-packed film, but he directs theaction sequences with enormous talent and passion behind them. He isable to demonstrate a subtlety at times regarding Hanna's character andthoughts, while in the action he makes us care. The film does drag abit in the middle, but even when it does there is always somethinginteresting to look forward to. The cinematography is quite brilliant,as is to be expected from a Wright film. Yet the film never feels over-the-top. In fact, it is quite a low-key and quiet film. I actuallydon't think that action film fans will be too fond of this. But I canappreciate this quiet intensity that the film has, and I personallythink that it makes it unique in it's own way. I also want go give huge kudos to the score by The Chemical Brothers.Quite brilliant, and I am sure its going to remain one of the bestscores of the year. Overall, I was very impressed by the film. Itmanaged to not become over-stuffed or messy, and was able to staygrounded and not go over-board while still being really intriguing, anddespite having a standard script was able to surpass that and becomeoriginal in it's own way. To me that is a huge success, although I dorecognize that many may find it rather... odd. The best film of theyear so far.

Kick-Ass meets Run Lola Run meets Boys From Brazil. I liked it!

Should repeat: MAJOR SPOILERS!!!I enjoyed this movie. It had a sensibility that isn't too common.Reminded me of the recent, great "Kick Ass." But it was in no way aremake or a rip-off of Kick Ass. The obvious similarities are a younggirl raised by a single, doting father to be a lethal assassin. Beyondthat "Hanna" provides different motivation for the characters and thestory. As a thriller it really works well. It is firmly grounded in aplausible plot with the CIA having created, then abandoning, a geneticmodification program to raise a crop of super soldiers (that's the"Boys From Brazil" part). Whether you buy into such conspiracies beingtrue to real life or not- such a premise does seem to be a reliabletrope for movies through the years. At least in the fictional world, itis based on plausible and real "facts." "Kick Ass," in contrast, whilea great movie was nonetheless always a comic book, and always afantasy.Cate Blanchet, one of my faves, plays a cold, steely character thatappears as a villain. Good acting! She was odious. But by the end, withall the reveals, we begin to suspect her character just might be actingwith good intentions. Maybe the genetically engineered super soldiershouldn't be allowed to roam free, or even live? Although one cringesat Blanchet's methods for tracking her prey--- they were unacceptablyover-the-top ruthless, with much collateral damage. Perhaps a typicalaudience member's secret wish, by the end, was for the runaway geneticmistake (the girl) to be killed, and then for the sociopathic hunterCIA lady (Blanchet) to be killed as well. Two evils eliminated for theprice of one.Funnily- these issues were not raised through the course of the movie. It was only in the last few minutes that the audience got enough infoto even ponder such things. Prior to that we were manipulated intothinking the standard spy-chases-innocents ploy was at work. Walkingout of the cinema we only then begin to wonder who was really innocenthere (certainly not the "dad," not the kid, and not the CIA boss lady)?Good all-round fun. The pace is a driving rock track that feels a bitlike "Run Lola Run," without feeling like a rip-off. Exciting!

I just missed your heart.

I thought I'd probably like "Hanna" - good concept (after all it's been used before) but I truly enjoyed this little movie. Intriguing, tough, unusual teenage heroine (Saoirse Ronan) raised in seclusion by her father (Eric Bana) and trained to kill. Well-played dastardly villain (Cate Blanchett). Beautiful cinematography - I was glad I got the blu-ray version. Fun action sequences. European artsy feel to the whole film. The storyline is disjointed with some unnecessary subplots and there's sometimes an acid trip feel to some of the scenes but to me, it held together, was different and I enjoyed it. There are so many male action heroes in movies today and it was nice, for once, to have a rockem sockem female lead.I was also glad to download the digital copy of the movie; I'll watch it again one day. NOTE: the digital copy has to be redeemed by 02/25/12.

Great Potential, Terrible Execution

At first I was hooked. Great opener, intriguing story line and a goodcast! This movie went downhill fast though. Tons of loose ends thatnever got tied up. I thought the back story was the most interestingpart of the movie and it was never really developed. It was kind oflike a machine with tons of working parts but no forward movement. Itwas a movie a la Quentin Tarantino but without the brains. I'mtypically not a fan of Tarantino though and hated Kill Bill...so thereyou go. Wish I had known this movie's style before going. If you hateKill Bill (and others like it) you will probably hate Hanna too. Sadwaste of our $20 bucks and a $30,000,000 budget. Sorry Eric Bana andCate Blanchette-I really wanted to love it!

Likeable, But Needs a Better Ending.

This review is from: Hanna [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray) First, I liked this movie, and violated my $10 limit rule for blu-ray (having paid $14 total) to buy it.For the full story line, go to wikipedia.Like most have said, the pace and setup was excellent until Hanna pulls the locator switch, then it drags a bit.Seeing Hanna as an involuntary 16-year old Jason Bourne character who is also coming-at-age was, to say the least, an interesting story line.If you keep several points in mind, you'll find the movie more creditable and enjoyable. Her DNA was altered to eliminate compassion, pity, etc. and make her stronger with increased mental focus, so 98 lbs of Hanna Heller equals 1 mature Jason Bourne. She kills in self defence, and I have to admit, while I cheered for her, knocking off CIA operatives who should be chasing down Al-Qaeda terrorists instead, had me conflicted. But those CIA operatives were scum of the earth while the soldiers were pawns who would kill tribal leaders while hunting insurgents; it is after all, a rogue operation which is why Marissa hires Isaacs ("Why do you want me?" Marissa: "The CIA won't let me do some things", or something like that). Many viewers couldn't accept the "reason" for the 14-year hunt for Eric & Hanna Heller, but the same story line exists with 3 Jason Bourne movies so just believe that if the CIA wants you dead, they won't forget. It is a bit weak as Marissa, 14 years ago, seems to be just a field assassin. Marissa looks hot, and would probably bother a lot of male spymasters.Right after her escape from the CIA compound in the middle of the No. African desert (does Morocco know about it), Hanna comes in contact with everyday life and real people for the first time after leaving the Finland artic cocoon. The Spanish boy will now learn not to grab girls inappropriately. It also humanizes her for the audience, and you want her to win and thrive, I did, at least. At the end, everybody dies but Hanna . . . horray, but what becomes of her ? bleeding from a bullet in her side, and "father" and grandmother also dead. Where does she go, and who is going to mentor her towards emotional maturity. I wanted a little more sugar, and I'll see if my 11-year old daughter can get some Hanna training before the boys arrive.

Poorly plotted and plodding plop

Based on the rating one would be forgiven for expecting a film thatfirst made sens and second was actually good. I was looking forward toseeing this but after watching it wish I had not wasted my time. Thewhole thing was too daft and over convoluted for words. Hanna startedin the Arctic, got captured and ended up in Morocco, escaped to Spainand then to Germany. This without the faintest idea what to do with alight switch, telephone or annoying TV programme. But of course she wasable to first, find a place with a computer and second, use oneproficiently enough to extract information from. Seemed odd she wasfreaked out by a light switch but knew what a computer was. Also herfighting skills against trained soldiers was stunning but she was notvery well trained in warding off skinheads in the employ of a whistlingdwarf in a tracksuit. What Cate Blanchett was doing and why wasdifficult to understand and the plot revelations were never reallyexploited very well. It had the makings of a good film but was toostupid to actually make the grade. If this was Eric Bana's plan to killhis nemesis it assumed a lot of things would go Hanna's way for her tocomplete her Mission Impossible. Especially as she was unable to eventurn on a light. Her escape was utterly silly and became sillier whenshe hooked up with the family in the camper van. Very little of theactions of anybody in the film made that much sense and the story madeeven less. The reviews here written by those who worked for theproduction team ensure that the film feels worth watching but beststart at the hated it and work upwards for a sense of what the film isreally like. Another promising movie that failed miserably. ThankfullyI saw 'Paul' the same day and that made up for watching Hanna.Hopefully 'Super 8' will be more 'Paul' than 'Hanna'.

Nice images, mediocre everything else

Hanna is a film about a girl who is trained from birth to be a specialagent. Her dry, unimaginative father takes her to the tundra where heteachers her survival, combat, and languages successfully. Lesssuccessful are his attempts to give her knowledge of the world outsidetheir wintry boundaries. Her father forces her to memorize dry factswithout context, which proves to be no substitute for experience. Sinceshe grows up without electricity or any modern conveniences, Hanna isparticularly unsuited to urban missions. Eventually this all has to endand teenage Hanna is thrust into the world she is eager to enter yetill equipped to deal with. With Hanna, director Joe Wright shows that he is able to createstriking images, mostly through his superb use of light and color.Unfortunately, in spite of the striking still images that frequentlyappear in Hanna, the moving images tend to be less impressive. Likecertain other action directors, Wright overuses shaky cam. He alsodoesn't properly utilize tracking shots, instead relying on quick cutsfrom various perspectives to convey the action. On the bright side,Wright isn't afraid to take some risks with editing, though there's atleast one sequence in which he goes overboard with this, splinteringthe frame into a clock like mosaic of Hanna faces. While the cinematic aspects of Hanna are somewhat uneven, the writingis appallingly mediocre. The plot mostly consists of trite andpointless chase scenes ending in workmanlike action sequences that tendto lack the proper set up needed to create a real sense of urgency.None of the villains really project much menace, especially when theirmeager skills are compared to the superhuman abilities of hardenedkiller Hanna. Although I don't normally worry about fight choreography,I had the bad fortune of watching this the day after I saw Ip Man, afilm inferior to this one in all ways except for the truly excellentfight choreography. Compared to that film's fights, the ones in Hannafelt downright sluggish. In spite of my reservations about Hanna, I have to admit that thepacing was handled quite well and the scenes of Hanna attempting to fitinto normal society worked in spite of themselves. This is a prettyfair piece of escapist entertainment from a director with potential.

Only thing good was the music !!

This movie was like two sides of a coin. On one side was the part whereyou hear the awesome soundtrack blare and know a good fight is about tohappen. The fights were enjoyable, maybe unrealistic, such as when EricBana's character fights I think 5 agents ? He somehow manages toannihilate them, despite receiving just as hard of punches as he wasthrowing from two or more agents. The scenery of Morocco and the eerieplayground in Berlin were great ! However, on the other side was a plotwith huge gaps ! Nothing is really explained well, and what happened tothe family she hitched a ride with ? The whole Spanish scene wasunimportant and didn't really add anything in my opinion, except shemay have had strong feelings for her friend and the friends brother wasin love with her. All in all the scenery and soundtrack are the onlythings really worth paying for.

17 May 2012

a confused mess of a movie

With the actors it had, this movie should have been better than it was. I'm not even asking for great, just better. But it was a confused hash of a movie. What's with the different accents Cate Blanchett used? She starts off sort of European, then ends up with someone's Hollywood idea of what a Southern woman sounds like. It's a testimony to how stupid the entire movie was that all that stands out in my mind are the honeyed, phony-Magnolia accents on two of the female stars. What a waste of my two hours.

Style Over Substance

The premise has great potential. In fact, the film started out well -sure, maybe a bit of a reach in terms of believability, but I waswilling to go along for the ride. However, once the setting shifted from the stark Far North, DirectorJoe Wright shifted styles. And boy, did he hit the Overkill button. AsHanna makes her escape from the holding facility believing she haseliminated Marissa, the piece ramps up to manic mode. Instead of anengaging thriller, we're suddenly thrust into an elongated music video.Jarring, clipped, frenzied visuals matched frame for frame by anoverbearing and relentless sound track. Long tracking shots and bizarrecamera angles are inserted into the story without any apparent reasonother than for us to see how clever and stylistic the storytelling is....It just doesn't work. It seems every effort was made NOT to supportthe story, but rather have the story play second fiddle to asmörgåsbord of overdone sights and sounds. And speaking of story, it was all over the place. In one instance,Hanna is awestruck when she first encounters electricity. (She'salready seen an airplane fly overhead... but a light that can be turnedon and off with a switch? Wow, now that's something!) She's so baffledby techno-gadgets like a TV, a ceiling fan and an electric kettle shesprints from the room. Yet a day later, we find her comfortably andcapably surfing the web at an Internet cafe. Hm. Did I already mentionit was a stretch? Cate Blanchett plays a driven, idiosyncraticcharacter who may have seemed interesting on paper, but comes across asan over-the-top imitation of Cruella De Vil. Many of the othercharacters - the British tourists and Issac, the sadistic blond killerMarissa employs to track down Hanna - were equally idiosyncratic andequally uninteresting. Seemed like the writers' ideas for creatingcharacter is simply endow them with quirks and disconnects. What youare left with at the end of the film is a feeling you've just spent twohours (tho' it seemed much longer) in the company of unconventionalcharacters who are as engaging as they are charming. They're neither.Saoirse Ronan certainly has a strong screen presence as Hanna.Unfortunately, she's about the only thing that makes this mess at allwatchable. It could have been, should have been a much better film.

15 May 2012

Somewhat disappointed...

Honestly, the best scenes in the movie are in the trailers. I found the story pretty dull the rest of the time, and the story only implies what happens to the family that Hanna befriends along the way. Further, for the so-called genetic engineering of a soldier, she's remarkably bad at handling bad people.

If you liked Tron Legacy...

I watched this as part of a regular Wednesday movie night with friends. The comment from one was that the person who made this movie reallyjust wanted to make a big music video, with another mentioning that oneof the escape scenes was really over the top. Their views are bothquite correct, but I LOVE big music and action scenes (see Tron: Legacyand The Fifth Element). The way the plot unfolds is interesting. The back story to thesituation gets revealed bit by bit, keeping you hooked to see not onlythe end, but the beginning as well.My reason for giving it a 9 is mostly that the very last line of themovie is very predictable and lame. I also wouldn't consider this movieto be an absolute favourite of mine. It was great, but not awesome. Most of the plot and the individual scenes were top notch, but therewere some areas that didn't seem to flow so well. There was also atleast one scene where the entire room laughed. I can't for the life ofme remember what it was.Bottom Line: The summary for this movie is misleading. I expectedsomething quite lame, and found something excellent instead.

Action and more action, with little underlying plot and some barebones acting

Hanna (2011)Trying very hard to be original and edgy, and often succeeding. Theslightly superhuman Hannah has been trained to be a cold-heartedsoldier from birth, and when she becomes an adult (as the movie begins)she is told that there are people in the world who want her dead. That's the core to the movie--both the premise and the problem. Whatfollows is a series of encounters with various "bad" people who simplywant to find her, and her trainer/father figure, and kill them. That'sall. That's a lot in terms of running, shooting, dodging bullets, doingflips and karate chops, running some more, and shooting some more. It'spretty exciting on that level, filmed with the kinetics we've come toexpect from films in the last thirty years. In a very large way this is patterned after the "Bourne" movies, andinstead of super-man Jason Bourne we have super-woman (very youngwoman) Hanna. The Bourne movies are superior in every way, both with asense of urgency, with plain old acting, and with the filming, bothcamera-work and editing. Running second best to those very well mademovies is still worth noticing, however, and if you like this kind ofmodern, heart-zipping, survive as the individual against the evil CIAagents, then this might make your night.Lead actress Saoirse Ronan does her best to be both cold (emotionlessby genetic design) and vulnerable (she's a cute blonde girl that playsthe innocent cliché too easily, frankly). She was better cast in themoody lush "Atonement" in 2007, and here she is facing the problem manyactors can't overcome, of being 16 or 17 and no longer a true kid. Withthe right director (Peter Weir did well last year in "The Way Back")she will be an effective young actress.I wish the rest of the cast was even enough to dwell on--there is afamily of traveling pseudo-hippie types in their van, well heeled andfilled with playful joy and irony (the daughter here, about Hanna'sage, is wonderfully insouciant). There is the father-figure, a kind ofslimmed down Liam Neeson, good, without depth. And then there is the surprise of it all, the reason I watched the filmin the first place, Cate Blanchett. As a high level CIA operative nowin the halls of Langley, her character is so limited by typecastingeven this most brilliant of actresses couldn't make her role valid orinteresting. The final (inevitable) showdown between the two women isalmost derailed by the terrific set, which was so obviously somescouting agent's coup--a run down amusement park with lots of funplaces to run, hide, and fight in. I saw this with someone who really liked it a lot. I wish I did, too.Huge potential dribbled away into clichés and shallow filmmakingformulas. Even the music, which some have commented on liking, isoverbearing. Check it out. Shot in Germany.

Left with a Higher Standard

The genre of shoot 'em up, spy novel movies has entertained many in thelast decade. Hanna establishes the precedent of what movie goers willexpect from producer/directors/writers in the coming years. This movieis a benchmark of what should be expected of this genre in the future. The lack of explanation despite uninterrupted momentum takes Gaul. Theshift towards a development of character that is concise yet fulfillingis not easy. Yet, this movie's characters are just that. We are onlytold what we need to know. Which, keeps the movie extremely thrillingand mysterious. Perhaps what I mean to say is that this movie was notpredictable at all. It is creative and unique and I highly recommend itto anyone looking for the next break through in the "spy action" genre. On point!

Hanna review

I believe that this movie was exhilarating! It was a brilliant filmthat could have a few tweaks done here & there. Saoirse Ronan is one ofthe most versatile actresses, especially for a 17 year old. The plotwas very confusing & this is the movie for you if you're into the whole'puzzling' feel in a movie. There was a couple of parts that didn'treally make sense as mentioned in other reviews the 'switch'..I reallydidn't think it was necessary. But otherwise it was quite aninteresting movie, but it isn't for everyone. I watched this movie withmy step-dad & he didn't like it at all. But I thought the whole'super-soldier' idea was interesting..it had me on the edge of my seat!I believe this is the movie for you if you're into trying to piecetogether things & especially if you like a good mysterious thriller!

What a steaming pile of sheep dung...

Jesus. I know no one will see this but I still needed to review this. Imade an account just to voice my displeasure. To add insult to injury Iam now adding on to the 2 hours I already lost from my life. I amsimply trying to keep others from making th same mistake.HOW!? did this movie get such good reviews. I am middle age. I haveseen a LOT of movies in my life. I can almost always find something toappreciate for all the hard work that went into making it. Eric Bana.Good. I see he should have played the Liam Neesom part in the newBatmans. Would have been much better. His copy in this move was animprovement.Hanna. Wondered around all wide eyed and innocent just like in theLovely Bones. She has that done cold.Kate Blanchett. Terrible. Did she read the script before committing tothis.OK. The story. Plot. Pile of vomit. Whatever you want to call it. I amjust going to get it all out there so bear with me. Bourne copy (amongothers). Instead of brainwashed super spy assassin. You get geneticallymodified super spy assassin. Hanna.Cold war program. Shut down by Kate. Probably rightly so. Assestsexterminated. Presumably mothers and kids. Eric feels guilty. Ericmakes a last ditch attempt to save one mother and one child. Kate killsmother. Eric gets away with Hanna. Instead of honoring his originalintentions (I guess b/c he is so mad at Kate for trying to kill him) henegates the one honorable thing he has tried to do in life by savingthe mother and child and instead raises her as the assassin she wasintended to be in order to kill Kate for his own revenge (and possiblykilling her mother? It is never made clear. Got all that. Why didn'tthey just go live in suburbia and live a normal life. No one knows. Whydidn't' Eric kill Kate himself? Again. No one knows. He raises her in the arctic circle in a small cabin with anencyclopedia and Grimm's fairy tales. No modern conveniences. Doesn'tteach her about them. Activates an "agent transponder" that apparentlyhas a battery that can last 14+ years. Eric runs away and leaves Hannahoping Kate will make an appearance and Hannah can kill her. Great planhuh? Then Hannah uses her training and kills who she thinks is Kate(and a lot of other people) and gets away. How this got a pg-13 I don'tknow. Everyone dies except Hanna. Then an interlude where Hanna gets to be a teenager and make friendswith a family. When the bad guys catch up she leaves her adopted familyto die and get away. It is just so ludicrous.Meanwhile Eric somehow swims from the Arctic circle to Germany.Amazing. Kills some people. And they all end up meeting in Germany.Every character has died up to now. Then Eric dies then Kate dies. Theend. Oh I forgot. Lite a retard driving a steam roller the writer anddirect or tie it all back together to a deer hunt in the first scene ofthe movie. Oh. The arrow. The heart. Oh the symbolism. SOOO deep.Baarrfff.After sitting there watching the credits I realized that Hanna was asociopath serial killer who did need to die. And Eric and Kate neededto die for creating her. But Kate wasn't really evil. She was just ahigh level CIA person (with bad gums) doing her thankless jobs as bestshe is able...I only scratched the surface of the holes in this plot. Spi assassinfairy tale. What Sh*t. I can suspend disbelief. But do so in the amountrequired by this movie would mean I no longer exist. I will neverunderstand the good ratings for this crap. If substituting a waif like13 yo girl for Jason Bourne is what we call good these days...I reallyam getting old.GET OFF MY LAWN!
