Very fun movie

This review is from: Friends With Benefits (Amazon Instant Video) I remember cracking on J.T. when he was in N Sync, but he has grown into a very entertaining actor. I LOVE his appearances on SNL! Of course Mila is beautiful and entertaining as well. I have been a fan of hers since That 70's Show. This is a fun, kinda sexy movie that both myself and my girlfriend enjoyed. Two thumbs up.

Just OK

Aimed squarely at the 14-30 year old crowd, BENEFITS has two youngprofessionals becoming friends and then sexual partners, the idea beingthat they will not become emotionally attached. They will not be theconventional boyfriend and girlfriend as played out in the movies theylove to mock. This sort of relationship is common enough in real life-- all one has to do is watch Divorce Court. But for purposes of thisfantasy, we accept the situation as out of the norm. Justin Timberlakeand Mila Kunis are the leads, and Jenna Elfman, Woody Harrelson and PatClarkson are on hand for support. Veteran character actor RichardJenkins plays Timerlake's dad who is slowly slipping into dementia. Thesex scenes are tame for an R-rated flick, and played strictly forlaughs. They are in no way erotic, for you worried parents out there.Also, for most of the movie, Kunis doesn't look all that appealing. Hermakeup and hair are all wrong until the closing scenes, when shefinally looks like the attractive actress we know.Perhaps this was doneon purpose. I suspect it was.

A piquant touch to a bland recipe

Following the age-old romcom recipe comprising an insipid mouthful ofclichéd dialogue, an inevitable yet blandly fleeting period ofseparation and of course an ever-present raunchy sense of humor that isalmost always the main ingredient, "Friends with Benefits" manages toadd an engagingly piquant flavor to the traditional mix through thenatural chemistry between Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake that isforthwith discerned at the beginning of the film. The joyful andinarguable compatibility between these two hilarious actors allows theviewer to appreciate even the most conversationally trite moments ofthe movie since, one way or another, the convincing couple attributesnew, more believable life to every feature that has been worn out bythe countless movies made from the same genre. Additionally, theplethora of hilarious sexual jokes begotten in the bedroom scenes willundoubtedly aid the spectator to quickly reach the zenith of amusement.Even if this film were devoid of its comical taste, it could still bevalued for its attempt to convey the importance of ceasing theopportunities in life through some of its more dramatic undertones.Overall, "Friends with Benefits" obeys the antediluvian recipe ofromantic comedies and successfully entertains its audience membersfundamentally through a solid chemistry created by the leading actorsthat renews a promising friendship between romantic comedies and theirtimeworn structures and morals.

Mila Kunis deserves an oscar go watch her shes hot

The story of Friends with Benefits is extremely funny for an adult movie especially Mila Kunis who is an hotty in this movie .She deserves an oscar for her part and her looks in this movie .Her acting is well done and she drives the movie in this movie .Its only almost perfect because I disagree with there co star who is Justin Timerlake who is the villain in this movie.I mean why did they have to pick him ?Could you explain that to me ?Why couldnt they pick Paul Rudd for the part it would of been outstanding then.Even the story is not that perfect because when you fall in love with an guy you dont just have fake sex when you dont know what you want .You might as well be single if you dont know who you love.Also when a man hurts a womens feelings you cant expect them too love you again after how you treated them like trash.Which this movie shows one minute they love each other then the next second they break up .Then they chase each others hearts to win each other back .Then Mila Kunis falls for it at the very end of the movie after all the bad things Justin Timberlake did too her .They first say there friends again and then they french kiss each other and fall in love at the very end of the movie.Listen to me.This movie you will learn alot from when you watch this movie .It has an great lesson in this movie when two people are in love.Its not only anude movie even though there are alot of nude scenes in this movie but this movie teaches you an important lesson.Go see this movie in theaters .You wont get disappointed if you read my review.Listen to me Im the best of the best reviewer .I know what Im talking about .I see movies 3 times a week .Listen too me.Go see this movie .Its the second best movie out of the summer thats a comedy and Mila Kunis is very very very hot .Youll want to see her in this movie.Although the funniest Comedy out of the summer and thats an Comedy and best summer movie is Mr. Poppers Penguins with Jim Carrey .Go see this movie first and if its not playing request the theaters to bring it back to theaters near you.Your aloud to do that.

Predictable but fun entertaining...

It was obvious from the trailer that this was going to be a fun movieto watch! JT has a lot of humour in his acting and Mila Kunis is goodin any movie, I think...Friend with Benefits is as predictable as any romantic-comedy though.They meet, they get on, they fall out, they declare their love for eachother and live happily ever after. At least I knew what I was in for! Ienjoyed watching how the fun on-screen relationship between JT and Milaprogressed, from meeting in the airport to being 'FwB' and on fromthere. There were other amusing roles around them too, with Dylan'ssister and her son. Also, Dylan's father who has Alzheimers likes towalk around with no pants on. Then there's Jamie's mother who is a bitwild and comes and goes throughout the movie.My favourite part was probably when Dylan finally tells Jamie how hereally feels in a very extravagant way. It was a bit cliché but makesyou smile. And a good song choice too! Overall, I think it is worth awatch if you're in the mood for a funny, sexy comedic romance. And ifyou don't want to pay to watch then it's a must when it shows on TV!7/10 for me - could've been better but for the predictable story.

A Clich Romantic Comedy that Pokes Fun at Other Romantic Comedies

I was able to see a sneak screening of this movie almost 1 month priorto it's official release. I honestly walked in simply thinking I wasseeing another typical romantic comedy with my girlfriend. To mysurprise it was much more.Timberlake plays an LA Blog Art Director who has just been recruited towork for GQ in New York by Kunis who is a headhunter. The two had greatchemistry through out the movie.What's funny is that even though it does contain the usual Clichéscenes that most romantic adult comedies contain, it does tend to pokefun at them and have some sort of realism to the plot.Both Timberlake and Kunis are likable and really funny. Woody Harrelsonwas the best addition to support this younger cast. Harrelson plays aflamboyantly gay sports editor who goes from making sexual advances toJT, to offering him some pearls of wisdom with his love life.I would have to say this movie was very enjoyable and if your skepticalabout seeing it in the theaters, definitely put it on your "must rent"list.

Why did I watch this instead of Midnight in Paris?

I cannot believe I paid $13 for this.I would recommend this movie to guys who want to watch Mila Kunis having sex. But then again maybe not, because the lead actor was JT, whose high speaking voice is 10x creepier than his singing voice.

Why did i expect more?

I saw the advert for this on TV and thought that this could havepotential to watch with my girlfriend so we went to see it. Ohh how iwas wrong, i can honestly say i can't think of a worse film i have seenall year. The acting was terrible the storyline was predictable theediting was shocking too.The whole film seems rushed in the sense that for the 1st 20mins theconversation is back and forth so fast it all drowns in to one monotonenoise. It does ease off a bit towards the end but it was too little toolate.I can see JT being in films as a cameo role but to be a lead actor thattakes some acting talent which he has none of.I want the 90mins back of my life.

They sell what sells.

I was really expecting less, especially because I thought it would be acopy of No strings attached. The plot was terrible, but I thoughtJustin's acting was pretty damn good, he represented that very capablebut still childish young businessman.I guess people like to watch this, because it represents some kind ofdream they'd like to live, believe me this is pure BS, this kind ofthing doesn't happen. but well it is a chick flick, so it is what itis. Had a good time watching it thought. Cool mom, to me one of thethings that made the movie worth watching and Dad... The thing is thateverything was so obvious and predictable and still people like to seethings happen, especially because you get to see really nice bodies.Hours and hours at the gym.

Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake Equals Good Movie

¨I have the perfect body for Photoshop. This (face) gets more angular,these (legs) get longer, and this (nose) get way more Christian.¨ Idon't think anyone would have a problem in real life believing thatMila Kunis could be a model, but this is just a movie so we go with theflow when she tries to convince someone she works as a model in orderto find Justin Timberlake's character in a photo shoot. Friends withBenefits is director Will Gluck's follow up to his very successful 2010comedy: Easy A, and although it isn't as great as a film as that onewas, the movie still manages to entertain thanks to a decent script anda great chemistry between Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. This movieactually had all the ingredients to fail: First of all there was a verysimilar movie that came out in the same month staring Ashton Kutcherand Mila Kunis's Black Swan partner, Natalie Portman. Second the filmfollows the same formula most romantic comedies do, and we cananticipate the ending miles away. So, why did I enjoy the film as muchas I did? I admit the chemistry between Timberlake and Kunis was great,but that isn't enough for me to make a film of this caliber enjoyable.I also have to admit that I love Mila Kunis and think she is extremelygorgeous on film, but that neither is enough for me to enjoy thismovie. I actually enjoyed the plot quite a bit and found most of thethings happening believable. I know love doesn't work like this all thetime, but there can be a couple of occasions in which true love can bemagical and predictable. Some girls have found their Prince Charming,and that is the story some filmmakers have decided to tell despite allthe clichés and formulas.Justin Timberlake plays an upcoming successful blogger from Los Angelesnamed Dylan who happens to have some good job offers coming his wayfrom New York. Jamie (Mila Kunis) is a work agent who makes Dylan theoffer to come to New York to work as the editor for GQ Magazine. Dylanjust ended up being dumped by his girlfriend for being emotionallyunavailable and decides to give New York a shot. Jamie was alsorecently dumped by her boyfriend, so both Dylan and Jamie realize it isbetter to focus on work and not enter relationships at this stage oftheir lives. Jamie convinces Dylan to accept the job by selling him theidea that New York is a great place to live and he agrees. Once in NewYork, both of them begin to form a strong bond together and become realgood friends. They both agree that they don't want to be inrelationships at the moment, but they miss sex. All of a sudden theyboth come up with the idea that they should sleep together withoutdealing with the whole relationship issue. They decide they can havesex just like two friends would play a game of tennis together, withoutall the romantic emotional stuff involved. Of course the plot gets morecomplicated than this and emotions begin to affect their relationship.Patricia Clarkson plays Lorna, Jamie's hippie loving mother, whileJenna Elfman plays Annie, Dylan's older and caring sister. RichardJenkins is Dylan's father, while Woody Harrelson also has a supportingrole as Tommy, the sports editor for GQ magazine.The entire cast is really fantastic in this film. The strong chemistrybetween the two lead roles (Timberlake and Kunis) is supported by amagnificent cast. Richard Jenkins is always great, and in this movie heplays the role of a father suffering from Alzheimer to perfection.Jenna Elfman is also great in her role as the sweet and caring sister,but the two supporting characters who get the most laughs are PatriciaClarkson and Woody Harrelson. Patricia is great as the free lovinghippie mother, and Harrelson shines as the gay sports editor. The plotalso works really well despite following all the Hollywood clichés thatthe film sort of tries to make fun of when they have Jamie and Dylanwatch romantic comedies together and rip them off for being sopredictable. The screenwriters were a little hypocritical because theyfollowed most of the same formulas those movies did, but I still had agood time with it and laughed at several scenes. I also liked thatthere was more to Timberlake's character than what we were firstintroduced to. We got to see some of the depth that he had in the filmand he did a great job with his role. I thought I was going to hatethis film, but I was surprised at how much I ended up liking it. Friends With Benenfits was an awesome movie!

I had seen No Strings Attached before I saw this one and everyoneseemed to think that it was a great movie and that this one was notworth watching. I was anxious to watch this one and see if they wereall correct. In my honest opinion Friends with Benefits blew No StringsAttached out of the water. I don't really have much desire to watch NoStrings Attached again but I would love to see Friends With Benenfitsmany many more times. I enjoyed the humor in this movie. I love Woody'sperformance as the gay guy. He did a super job. It was also refreshingto me to see Mila and Justin's characters seem so comfortable with eachother in all ways. They worked well together and brought something new.I can't wait to buy this DVD!

A typical Hollywood movie of this genre

The movie gets a rating of 6.6 before I saw it, so I thought it wouldbe decent. Unfortunately, this movie follows the same formula like manyothers before it. Two adults acting like immature teenagers. If theyuse actors that look like teenagers, it would at least be morebelievable.Justin's acting is so-so. the lead actress is not that attractive andis heavily covered with eye makeups.If you have not seen a "friends having sex" type of movie, this wouldbe OK to watch. But if you've seen one, you've seen it all.The only things that stands out are the creative ways credits are givenat the beginning and the end of the movie.

My kind of Romance...insert smiley face

Im not sure how i missed this movie last year... So happy I picked it up at RedBox. The movie was so cute! Really loved this one for a Friday night/movie nite at home. I plan to buy it now!Mila (as Jamie), Woody Harrelson, and Jamie's mother actually made me Laugh out Loud. Funny! J. Timberlake's performance...hmm... was 'average'. Part of this movie could be a "Visit New York" ad as well. I wanted to book a flight after watching the first 20mins.

Loved it

Went with a group of people who ended up loving up. Then anyone I know who went really loved it and enjoyed it too. This is one movie I would actually PAY to see again at the theater. Justin and Mila had great chemistry and were both very funny. I was surprised to see how funny Justin was but shouldn't have been he is great on Saturday Night Live. If you are looking for a deep movie this is not it. If you are looking for a light funny movie that could be real and that could actually happen this would be it.

Not as love-less as I expected, in fact a pretty good story.

I have a friend, a 50-ish lady, who not long ago described herrelationship with a certain man as "we are friends, with benefits."Honestly I had never heard it described that way, but she explained it.Then this movie came out and I was leery. But then we saw it, and bothmy wife and I thought it is pretty good. The dialog is snappy and ringstrue, and the two leads are quite good and convincing.Justin Timberlake is Dylan Harper, a hot-shot West Coast editor on aweb-based publication, and gets offered an interview trip to New York,for the job as editor for GQ Magazine. He says he is just going for thetrip, but things develop.Mila Kunis is the headhunter, Jamie Rellis. She meets him at theairport, and when he balks at considering the job she tells him, "I amnot going to try to sell you on the job, I'm going to sell you on NewYork." She succeeds, he moves to the City, the two of them arenaturally relaxed and fun together, and become best friends.Then, just bantering one day one of them suggests, why go without sexwhile we are both between relationships, let's just do it, with nostrings attached, and it will be like playing tennis. When it is overwe shake hands and say see you around.Of course if that had worked then there wouldn't be much of a moviepast that point. It gets romantically complicated when they both beginto have deeper feelings for each other and at the same time deny thosefeelings.Three other characters add greatly to the enjoyment of the movie.Patricia Clarkson is Jamie's wild and loose mother, who shows upwithout notice, and at least once Jamie and Dylan are in bed, nakedwhen she walks in.Old reliable Richard Jenkins is Dylan's dad, with early onset ofdementia. Sometimes he just takes off his pants, in public, because hegets tired of wearing them. But in the end he gives his son the keyadvice, if you think she even might be the one, go after her. Life isshort.And Woody Harrelson is Tommy Bollinger, the openly gay sports editor.He plays the part perfectly.A fun, entertaining movie, but for adults.
