Might Bring The Series Back to Life

You can also read this review on my blog: Two Bullets, Five Zombies -->http://wp.me/p1MQmC-2t As a dedicated fan of this series, as soon as this movie was availableat movie theatres around me, I was DYING to watch it! Nevertheless, Iwas a bit worried that the series had reached its zenith by the thirdmovie and was on the edge of the grave because the fourth movie, although entertaining, wasn't as good as the first three. But could Ihave been more wrong?! In the fifth Installment of Final destination, aman's premonition saves a group of coworkers from a horrifyingsuspension bridge collapse. But they weren't supposed to survive, theycheated death and death doesn't like to be cheated. Unless theydiscover a way to escape Death's sinister agenda, it's game over forthem. The movie has as much blood and gore as possible, just the way I likeit! I don't know why but I find it hilarious when some one's intestinesburst, or when their eye falls out. People gave me weird looks when Iburst out laughing while others were screaming, even my friends thinkI'm evil. Anyhow... What I really liked about this movie is that inaddition to the horror/blood factor, there is an actual plot, which israre to find among movies from this genre. In the second movie, thetheory that a new life can defeat death was put to the test, while inthis movie it's suggested that ending a life can defeat death. Thatcreated an internal conflict in which the characters were hit byreality, can they take a person's life in order to live themselves? Thedeath scenes were truly awesome, the director showed many clues at thestart of each death scene, you get to play detective to guess how thecharacter is going to go. I've got to admit, I was surprised almostevery time. FD5 revived the spirit of the original movie- my favorite,it had this dark humor and an atmosphere that can give goosebumps; thekind you get when you are beyond creeped out.The visual effects are pretty wicked, from the opening credits till theclosing credits, I actually felt like I could reach out and grab theknife, or that I was really splashed with blood, or that some one'sintestines are all over me. Definitely the best 3D offered this year (I promise, I don't say that about each 3d movie I watch, it's that Ireally thought it was the newest Transformers till I saw FD5!).The ending left me speechless, or rather screaming out obscenities andthe name of another certain movie. Now, I can't just not tell you whathappens, yet I can't just simply spoil it for you. But Iwill....Mwahahaha When Sam and Molly board the plane to Paris, we catcha glance of Carter and Alex from the first Final Destination moviefight then get off the plane. That's when I went nuts; cursing andscreaming out "Flight 180" or "That's from part one!"or just "That'sCarter" as he was one of my favorites from the first movie, and helooks kinda yummy, don't ya think? To make it worse, I don't thinkanyone in the whole theatre has ever watched the first movie before, soyeah, I looked pretty crazy. And to top it all off, a part of the planefalls over the last survivor! All in all, Final Destination is a veryenjoyable, suspenseful movie that I believe can (hopefully) bring theseries back to life. If you aren't weak-hearted, you won't regretwatching it!

Spectacular 3D Horrorshow Nobody here gets out alive

I'm still picking glass splinters out of my eyes. This latest juicyconfection goes down like cotton candy or, if you're over 21, oysterson the half shell. A great combination of pure agonizing terror andhysterical action, run to the theater. There is not one single dullmoment in this entire film. The set-ups are spectacular and the camerawork phenomenal. Bring an umbrella to protect yourself from the bloodshed. Sheer blissful mindless entertainment, free from the really scarystuff in life like Washington DC and the evils that live there. No, youwon't see any Oscar material, but the actors are believably scaredwithout being too over the top. The bridge scene is totally awesome, one of the best things on the screen this year. You couldn't ask formore from a film except a pitcher full of Bloody Mary's served by askeleton at each seat.

When this Bridge is A-Rockin, Death comes a-Knockin.

If you are completely new to the Final Destination Series I would saythis is a bad place to start. Go see the first 3 (See part 4 at yourown risk, not as good as the rest). I was not expecting another filmbecause the last one was titled "The Final Destination", they Didn'teven call it Final Destination 4. This movie has redeemed the qualityof the series for me. One thing i really like is how every moviebrought a lot of new up and coming actors/actresses and a lot have beengood. Part 4 was so forgettable I don't remember any of the faces.Final Destination 5 is almost as good as part 2 But I enjoyed it a bitmore then part 3. The story has the same formula which I do like butfeared would make this one predictable. Instead they added a few morelayers to the Story so as familiar as it feels it also feels new at thesame time. The Special Effects are top notch, I am not talking a lot of flashystuff I am talking a lot of Blending to make everything seem a lot morereal. The death scenes are raising the bar, you would think with whatwe have seen 4 times that it would have desensitized us a lot more butthe whole Theater went "OOoooooo". The actors brought a lot of freshfaces but they where really good, I feel a lot of these people could befuture stars one day, but maybe my standards are just very low due tohow part 4 was (I need to stop mentioning part 4). Tony Todd (We allknow him as the guy who played The Candy Man) reprises his creepy roleas the Coroner who seems to be the only person who completelyunderstands how Death works. I don't know about you but he still creepsme out after all these years, but hes a great actor non the less. The Sounds was incredible, very loud and detailed, enough to make youjump. I can't get the song "Dust In The Wind" out of my head now, thatmovie made that song Eerie for life. The 3D portion was OK, Like part 4 you will see Guts and stuff in yourface which really makes it that much more intense. But its not whatmakes this movie so if you have to catch it on DVD you wont miss toomuch, but I didn't regret paying more to see it in 3D.This is a movie where you want to go in as Fresh as possible, meaningyou don't want to hear too many opinions about it or see too manyclips. Its been a while since I came out of the Theater happy afterseeing a really awesome movie, at the end it received an applause(Which is the first I witnessed live at the movies) I Highly recommendthis one to any Fans of the series, and to those new comers as Imentioned watch the first 3 movies first, if you enjoy them any youmight like this one too.

Back to the roots

I guess everyone felt that the Final Destination series was declining(no pun intended). Many might have liked the second movie, but thethird one was the breaking point for many (I still kinda like theinventive death scenes in that). Fourth part is by far the worst(rating wise), but was named "The Final Destination", which suggestedit was the end. And while this might not have been entirely true, itwas a good thing they came up with this "final" installment of theseries. This one goes back to what made the first one so good. And it's not theonly thing that can be linked with those movies. Tony Todd is "back"again and you have the same premise as with the other movies. But inthe end it proves to be more than that. And I'm not only talking abouta (3-D) reprise of all the Deaths of the other movies put during theend credits ...

Best Sequel In The Series!!!

In the year 2000, the final destination series started with a greatfirst installment. In 2009, the fourth installment in the series wasreleased. While it did great at the box office, the film receivedterrible reviews from critics and fans across the nation. In 2011, a fifth film was released. The film is what I would call andwhat others may believe to be the best sequel in the Final Destinationseries. It has everything that I could ask for from a final destinationmovie. It has the gruesome death scenes, suspense, stylish directing, adark feel to it, great acting, etc. As the sequels were released theyall started to lose that dark side. But this film brings the dark sideback. The 3D was fantastic and was used perfectly. The ending is soamazing. I had chills the whole entire time.If your a fan of the series, GO SEE THIS MOVIE. I swear you will not bedisappointed.Acting: B+ Story: A+ Death scenes: A+ Suspense: A+++ 3D: A+

Needless to say, fans of the series wont be disappointed impressive 3-D too

Whenever a movie franchise, especially horror, has reached the midwaypoint, and you get the same thing in each new movie, it's clear logicis not an issue. These movies (Final Destination series) are madebecause the previous ones made a lot of money and horror fans like tosee people die. So, since this is nothing more than a sequel, thereisn't any point in 'reviewing' it. The only part of FD 5 that's new isthe sequence in the kitchen where one of our victims tries to keep hislife by attempting to kill our hero. Of course, the movies begin with amajor disaster, and then smaller ones occur to kill off the rest of theinnocent victims one by one. And, depending on the circumstances, maybeanother major disaster, like part 5 for instance. If the ending looksfamiliar, well that's presumably because events of the first movie arebeing recreated. Or is it just a coincidence? I doubt it. There areflashbacks going back to part 1, but don't be fooled. There are 2 moremovies being planned.*** out of ****

Its Final Destination, what can I say?

Quite a bit actually. Rumor has it that the producers wanted to makesure this installment would be darker, similar to the first FinalDestination, in contrast to the ***t-fest that was The FinalDestination (4). And... that's exactly what we got. That's not to say Iwasn't laughing at a lot of things during this movie (not bothering the2 other people in the theater). So let's dive into the fourth sequel.First of all, the credits are just a 3-D gimmick, with things that havepreviously killed (or will end up killing) victims of the moviesbreaking through glass as they fly at us. They are far too long and Iwas only getting through it by naming what movie it killed someone in.If the story is a surprise to you, go get your IQ checked. The acting in this is much better than 3 and 4. I was actuallysurprised at the emotional turmoil some characters had coping with thedeaths of their co-workers and loved ones. Yet for most of thecharacters it doesn't seem to last long. Only Peter seems to care thewhole time, but that seems to be to the point of insanity. I'm going toguess that was part of the writing, so acting gets a 5/10.There's a stupid sub-plot of what happens with the relationship betweenour protagonist Sam and his girlfriend Molly. In the opening scene, they break up. We later find out it's because Sam is a chef and wantsto take an apprenticeship in Paris. Why is this important to the plot? You'll see. But that sub-plot shouldn't exist, its importance couldhave been set up in just a bit of dialogue. But then our movie would betoo short.Earlier I said I was laughing at many things in this movie. It wasn'tbad dialogue... okay yes it was. Well it wasn't the deaths... that's alie too. Everything was just dumb. A character named Isaac is this fasttalking insensitive selfish nerd who has an awkward scene at a massagetherapy parlor that seems more out of a comedy than Final Destination. The boss, Dennis, isn't a character. He just says stuff and people arescared of him. Peter is an emo dude, Candice is his gymnast girlfriend, and they also have their Token Black Guy, Nathan. To top it all off,the groupie slut, Olivia. She only takes her shirt off once though. Ifeel like I've digressed a bit too much, so I'll just move on.The deaths are boring. And that's good. The most graphic we get is inthe premonition, when Candice is impaled on a (get this) sailboat mast.We see intestines and... that's really the best we get. She later diesof... lots of broken bones. She falls off a gymnastic bar thing andsomehow manages to break every bone in her body, most likely includingher neck. This death is ridiculous and impossible for many reasons Iwill not get in to. Isaac gets his head crushed by a Buddha statue,Olivia falls out a window, Dennis gets a wrench to the face, Peter getsstabbed. Boring. But now let us move on to the script, which I mustgive the movie credit for.The script consists of the regular Final Destination formula: CharacterExposition; Premonotion; Deaths. But this time, there's a twist. Thecreepy morgue guy, Bludworth, tells four of the remaining survivors(Molly never died in the premonition) that if they killed somebody whohad nothing to do with the bridge, they would regain their life. Neat, huh? Except for one thing... IT NEVER WORKS!! Nathan kills this guynamed Roy he doesn't like, but gets killed anyway because that guy wasalready going to die a different way according to Death's plan. Thismeans that Nathan should have died before Dennis, because in the orderof the premonition, he was next. But nope, he dies last. Can you sayPlot-hole? Also, Peter kills a federal agent, and is then killed bySam. OOPS! Now here's the real kicker that is both good and bad: Thismovie is not in the present time. In fact, it's a prequel. This takesplace... BEFORE THE FIRST MOVIE! Surprised the hell out of me. Yet thisis simply a case of making ***t up as they go along, because if that'sthe case, why was the "kill or be killed" rule never re-introduced?Anyway, we know this is a prequel because Sam and Molly get on theplane to Paris, the same plane Alex from the original was on. You knowwhat that means, Sam and Molly die in that plane crash. OOPS! I guessDeath just felt like breaking the rules himself. Then the worst part ofthe movie comes... the plane lands on Nathan. Yep, it lands on himwhile he's at a memorial service for the guy he killed. Nobody lives. So, writers? You listening? If you're going to add that little twist...HAVE IT AMOUNT TO SOMETHING!!! In spite of the small praise I've given it, this movie has its issues.I'd just like to stress that I did not hate this like I did 3 and 4.5/10.

Suspension bridge of death.

Could this actually be the finale of the FINAL DESTINATION franchise?Steven Quale directs a group of co-workers on their way to a corporateretreat. As the private bus makes its way onto a suspension bridge oneof the colleagues gets a premonition about the bridge being unstablecausing a horrific collapse. A small group do manage to survive; butthe shaken survivors begin getting killed in the order they escapeddeath on the crashing bridge. In spite of survivor's guilt, there seemsto be an unseen entity, possibly Death itself...not satisfied with theliving. Starring are: Nicholas D'Agosto, Emma Bell, Courtney B. Vance,David Koechner, Ellen Wroe, P.J. Byrne, Miles Fisher and ArlenEscarpeta. It seems the scenes of violence have gotten more gruesome, possibly why I like this better than the previous four.

Boring

This instalment was boring. The characters made you want to end them, they had no depth and more time in this sequel was given them. Thistook away from potential action with there scenes being very short. Theaccidents, well it is clear the producers are running out of ideas asthey weren't as clever and were very easily anticipated to the point ofobvious. They even added CGI 3D effects or animated paint to themmaking them feel cheap. There was a great twist in the plot "kill, to gain the death" in thissequel which can make future sequels fun but I am not expecting much atall after this one. Boring! 4 out 10 because Candyman was kool

And Death keeps on rolling.

It's not often that the fifth entry in a series is one of the bestefforts, but Final Destination 5 pulls it off. It's still mostly thesame scenario with new deaths and new actors, but the formula istweaked a bit to make it interesting again. As for the deaths, overall I'd say these are a couple of the mostmemorable in Final Destination history. I'll just say that there willbe no laser eye surgeries or acupuncture appointments in my future. Theactors are just another round of disposable (and vaguely familiar)pretty faces, but they die convincingly enough and aren't excessivelyannoying, and that's all you can really ask for. If you're still up for more Final Destination, this one has as much ormore entertainment value as any of the rest. It even has some linksback to an earlier movie in the series, which fans will appreciate.

Final Destination 5, Best Sequel to Date!

Spoiler Free This movie is everything you could hope, the openingdisaster is by far the best and most detailed. Every death will makeyou cringe in your seat! Steven Quale really sets the bar for thisseries, the 3D is used very well and it's possibly the best 3D movie ofthe year, in my opinion. The characters are very relatable and likableand you actually care for them. Emma Bell and Arlen Escarpeta. This isa great throw back from the atrocious film The Final Destination, it'sa great conclusion and there's plenty of fantastic twists that willmind blow you.I'd suggest seeing this in 3D to get the full effect of Finaldestination 5! 10/10

Better than the previous two, still...

OK. So I'm a fan of the saga and this movie was by no means adisappointment. The intro prediction was the second best of the saga(there's still to exist other FD that can top the intro of the secondmovie!), and the FX were really credible. The amount of gore andsuspense were just about right, not too much so it didn't seem a Bmovie gore film but the enough to "entertain". Now the down parts.First of all (and its something that its present on all movies) -> theacting. Very poor, with equal poor actor\actress... But i got over itby the third movie so I didn't get surprised by the new casting. Also,I'm not American (as you can tell by my poor English) so I couldn'tunderstand what the hell "Presage" was... It was a office, full ofkids, where one worked as a chef, and one in the factory right next tothe offices...? Please somebody explain that part. **SPOILER** A good surprise was the presence of the first movieinteracted with this one... I liked it a lot! But tell me something: IfMolly wasn't supposed to die...why did she?

Watched it in 2d and it was still good fun.

I saw this movie expecting nothing from it and after dismissing the badacting, the tom cruise lookalike and the completely predictable script Ihave to say i really enjoyed it, it was good fun and what you'd expectfrom an installment of the final destination series. Was i scared? No!Did I have good fun watching this, yes i did!! I would definitely saythis movie is better to watch this with a glass of wine. Thats all Ihave to say, IMDb is killing me with this ten line thing so how muchmore am i going to have to say to make ten lines, i think I'm nearlythere, oh yes i just entered line nine so right after this i am goinginto line ten oh thats right Im here, Jesus what ever happened toconcise reviews, this ten line minimum thing is a bit nonsensical.

Hollywood wont stop producing them until people stop seeing them (at least in large quantities)!

'FINAL DESTINATION 5': Three Stars (Out of Five)Yet another 'FINAL DESTINATION' sequel, even though the previous filmwas supposed to be the last. When a horror film series is as successfulas this one it's almost a guarantee that Hollywood won't stop producingthem until people stop seeing them (at least in large quantities). TheJason and Freddy franchises have already proved that. The original'FINAL DESTINATION' (like with most popular long running slasherfranchises) was actually a really good and well made film. When it cameout, eleven years ago, I wasn't as big a horror hound as I am now andactually had no intention of seeing it in the theater but my friend,Kara, talked me into it and I was actually pleasantly surprised. It'sone of the better horror/slasher films to come out in the last fewdecades. Like with similar franchises the original sequel really uppedthe ante and gore and it was a pretty satisfying installment as well(with probably the best all around death scenes of the series). Thethird and fourth installments were just more of the same with no realtwists. The last installment had the addition of cool death scenes in3D, which was a bonus, but the film as a whole was the worst of theentire franchise and it was therefore nice to see it was coming to anend. With this fifth chapter we do get more of the same (in 3D,although I didn't see it that way) but it also has a couple nicesurprising twists at the ending. The film as a whole isn't thatimpressive but it is at least somewhat of an improvement over the lasttwo. The film tells the story of another psychically gifted youth, SamLawton (Nicholas D'Agosto), who has a premonition of he and his friendsdying in a horrible accident (this one involves a bus on a collapsingbridge) and gets them out of danger shortly before the accidenthappens. In this film Lawton is on a company trip with his girlfriend,Molly (Emma Bell), and other co-workers who are also close friends. Ofcourse death tracks them down one by one killing them all off anyway, because it "doesn't like to be cheated", as they're warned by amysterious coroner (played by Tony Todd once again, appearing in allbut the fourth film now). Sam's friends continue to die in bizarrelyhorrifying accidents as he desperately tries to find a way to save them(just like all the other films).Steven Quale directed the film. Quale has a great deal of experiencedoing various jobs on James Cameron films including co-directing theunderwater documentary 'ALIENS OF THE DEEP', with Cameron. This is onlyhis third directorial effort and he does a decent enough job. Thescreenplay was written by Eric Heisserer who also wrote the recentremakes to 'A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET' and 'THE THING'. The film ismildly witty in places and highlighted by the supporting turns of DavidKoechner and P.J. Byrne. The rest of the cast is pretty flat (excludingTodd of course) and like I said the events of the film are mostlyroutine (for the series) but the death scenes are once againspectacularly creative and like always the main reason to see the film.Seeing it in 2D did take away something from the intended experiencethough, as you can obviously tell where all the 3D elements were used(and they look like they were used well). In that way it kind ofreminded me of watching an old 80's horror film on video in 2D that wasreleased in theaters in 3D (like 'FRIDAY THE 13TH PART III'). As I alsoalready said there are a couple of surprising twists towards the end,one takes away an element to the film that has always made the seriesso unique. That being that the main villain is death itself and not acreature or mad killer. There is a routine horror element added towardsthe end which makes it no different than all the other slasher filmsout there really but it does make it different from the rest of thisseries at least. The film as a whole is sure to please die-hard fansand is definitely a step above the last two installments. Worth seeingif that's good enough for you.Watch our review show 'MOVIE TALK' at:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4tG6zhJxO8

Grisly, Gory, and Gruesome, but Winkingly Wry

Final Destination 5 (1:32, R) — fantasy: supernatural, 3rd string, sequel, OSIT cynicsThis movie suggested its own rating: 5.After I position a movie on my customary scale of 1 to 9, I take alittle time to look at other recent films the in same vicinity as akind of reality check. Did I REALLY like Final Destination 5 about aswell as Green Lantern and Kung Fu Panda 2 (also 5s) and a little betterthan Green Hornet and Cars 2 (both 4s)? Honestly, and somewhat to myown surprise, yes I did. There is nothing whatsoever different from the previous 4 FDs as far asthe basic plot goes: A young guy gets a premonition of a calamity soonto befall him and bails out, bringing half a dozen others with him. Butthis amounts to cheating death, and death will not be cheated, so theycommence to die off, 1 after the next, in the same order in which theyWOULD have perished absent the precog. (It is never clear why thisrigorous sequencing is an immutable law of the Universe, especiallysince they obviously didn't die in the proper order compared toeveryone else in the disaster, but none of this bears very closeexamination, so it's best to just go with it.)The various means of demise are uniformly grisly, gory, and gruesome, but each one is different and requires a string of improbabilitiesbefore the final strike (or blow, or cut, or smash, or shot, or blast,or … well, you get the idea). FD5 teases you with various false leadsand red herrings as to what the exact mechanism will be for each event. It also establishes a pattern of intricate attention to detail for eachsetup, then, just as you've been lulled into thinking you've figuredout the pattern of the pacing, it abruptly snaps you out of it withsomething shockingly sudden and unforeshadowed. The prior films featured high-school and college students; this onekeeps pace with the aging audience and goes for young officeprofessionals, all employed at the Presage Paper Company, headed outfor a team-building retreat on a bus crossing a suspension bridgethat's under construction. This is where the premonition occurs, and weget to watch each of the characters die for the FIRST time in theimagination of Sam (Nicholas D'Agosto). The collapsing bridge offers upa spectacular piece of mass carnage for the most part, but it's strungout enuf so that each character gets about a minute of her or his ownbefore being speared, or fried, or smashed, or drowned, or guillotined,or … well, you get the idea. Both here and in the more leisurely SECOND death scenes, the resultantcorpses are so horribly broken and mutilated — well beyond anyreasonable consequence of the proximate cause of death — that it'sclear the film-makers (Director Steven Quale and Screenwriter EricHeisserer) figure nobody at all is taking this seriously, so they mayas well have fun exaggerating to their heart's content. They also takefull advantage of 3-D. This may be the ideal film for it, and it wastesno time whatsoever, as various lethal objects come right at you in slowmotion thru bloody shattering glass under the opening credits. There'salso a quick- cut montage at the end reprising the fatal moments fromeach of the previous 4 movies, highlighting stuff headed your way.Miscellaneous random thots: • I still like Dust in the Wind, despite it apparently being oleAzrael's entrance theme. • However, I will never, ever get lasik eye surgery. • Miles Fisher (who plays office supervisor Peter Friedkin) sure lookslike Tom Cruise. • It's nice to see that the token black guy didn't go 1st for achange. • Instead, it was the 1 person in the cast who HAD to have some talentbesides acting. • Probably the most dangerous room you will ever walk into is akitchen. So this movie is clearly not for everyone, which is why it's in themiddle of my "up to you" range. But, if you're part of the targetaudience, it delivers the goods. Just as you'd expect, people getelectrocuted, or fricasseed, or impaled, or hanged, or dismembered, or… well, you get the idea. It's not WHAT happens, it's HOW it happensthat keeps you shaking your head, murmuring "Oh, no, they didn't!", andcoming back for more.Say, I just realized. The 1st 4 movies came out 3 years apart, in 2000,2003, 2006, and 2009. This is 2011, only a 2-year gap. It's notsupposed to happen until next year. You don't suppose …. AAARRRRGGGHHHH

Back to its roots of being somewhat intriguing

The first two Final Destination movies was pretty good for it's time, but started to fall apart with it's 3rd and 4th sequels. The last twobefore this one weren't super terrible movies but was far from beinggood either. Like it was easy cash in without much effort being putinto it just relying on the franchise. This one is somewhat of a rehashof the previous movie but it seemed to have gotten more effort put intoit. The CGI in this movie is actually really well done and believable. If you seen the previous movies in this franchise the first few scenesare really predictable and doesn't hold much tension because you willknow what is going to happen. But as it progresses it gets somewhatintriguing and has some tension going for it. Tony Todd as WilliamBludworth makes a appearance as the mysterious man that knows exactlywhat is going on. The acting in this one is awful and you just can'ttake it seriously sometimes, but the death scenes I guess makes up forit. Seeing how there is more tension in this one. This one is a worthyinstallment to this franchise, just wonder how it's going to keep upthe pace for the next installment. Cause this one was a bit of arehash.6/10

Same title, same downward slope of creativity

*insert raspberry sound here* This was baaaaaaaaad. I thought 4 wasbad, but this makes 4 look like a shining gem of a movie.Plot is same as always, group of people cheat Death because one of theminexplicably has a premonition about how they're all going to die. This was interesting in the first movie, because it was something new,we hadn't really had a horror movie where we didn't actually ever seewhat was doing all of it, and because the "villian" or bad guy killingeveryone, literally could not be stopped.Unfortunately, unlike the first two, it has devolved into basicallysetting up grotesque looking death traps. Whereas in those first twomovies, it actually explored how freaked out people would really be ifstuff like this happened, and how the person who had the vision wouldessentially go a bit nuts, they just keep losing things that made themgreat.Like, for instance, the small warning signs. There was one that I canrecall in this movie, and it was the girl who gets her eye all burnedup by the laser, she drops a photo of her and a friend and it shattersoutward from that eye. Everyone else, no warning signs whatsoever.Ominous and inexplicable audio and visual cues when "Death" shows up tostart the trap, sure, but small things like the warnings, made thesefilms originally very interesting, kept you guessing. This just basically tries to fool you. Such as in the gymnasium, there's the screw on the beam, the electric cord in the water, the fan. They make them all seem very evil and it's really about the only deathtrap that does this. But it's essentially just a slap in the face, aswhat happens - girl to die gets off beam, goes onto swinging bars, another girl gets onto the beams. She eventually stabs the screw intoher foot, falls down, knocks the fan onto it's side, blows dust aroundthe girl on the beams, she STUPIDLY dismounts, twirls around, lands onher neck.It just makes you want to put your head in your hand and shake it.The girl with the laser, does actually get her eye/hand burned prettygood by it, but actually dies by slipping out of the window and landingon a car. Chinese looking guy, same thing, falls on the needles in hisbody, fire envelopes the room....what kills him is the buddha statuefalls on his head. Two deaths actually occur with absolutely no warning and little buildup, the jerk boss gets a wrench smashed into his face at high speeds, which you basically see rattling around and then falling onto a beltabout 15 seconds before, and the guy at the end gets crushed by a planewheel, right after he finds out the guy he "killed" to steal his life, was going to die anyways.Oh, and the main character realizes they're screwed on the plane about15 seconds before it actually goes boom and takes him and the girl withit. On that note, there are two things this movie did somewhat right....the"twist" of this being a prequel to the first one, had you heard NOTHINGabout this before seeing the movie, would probably make you go"Ohhhh...nice!" And they setup the inevitable continuation of theseries, as the Coroner from the first two movies, in one scene, explains that "He's seen this stuff happen before....a group of peoplecheat Death and then one by one, it comes back for them...to reset thebalance" and blah blah blah.Once you realize this is a prequel....DING DING DING!! This stuff washappening for god knows how long BEFORE Alex ever got off the plane inthe first movie :O Shock and awe!! And likely where the sequels willcome in.However, they made a BIG BIG BOO BOO in continuity here (actually, there's major continuity issues throughout this whole movie if you payattention) ..... when they board the plane at the end and after Alexand everyone gets off, the main guy looks at his plane ticket. The first movie took place in 1999, starting on September 25th. Thatwas when the plane took off for Paris, and Alex and everyone got off, blah blah. The ticket in ~this~ movie shows the date being May 13th,2000.Again, face in hand, shake at the sheer idiocy.Every time a new installment comes out, I keep hoping they'll do itwisely, do something actually new (the concept of taking anothers lifefor you own is not new, they did a version of this in 2, trying to savethe baby, escaping deaths grip by being drowned and clinically dead fora few minutes) and of course, it never works.Even just somehow tie the rest of the movies together, like they didwith the second to the first one. Actually go somewhere with the damnstory for once! Bring back the thought provoking of the first movie. If this is any indication of the future movies, then I know it won't behappening, unfortunately.

This is one very fun ride

This will make you love all the FD films all over again. I saw thismovie opening night and I am so very glad I did. They have stepped upthe quality of the film and the creativity of the deaths. Not since FD2have I enjoyed one of these films. If you read bad reviews do not trustthem go see it for yourself and you will believe. The acting was much better then number 4 not as good as number 2. Justwhen you thought you knew what was going to happen you are hit with asurprise and I was left saying wow. I saw the 2D version of the movienot really of big fan of 3D. The movie to me had good balance did notmove to slow and the deaths were extremely creative and at timesshocking.

Best Final Destination in series!

I will admit, I came into FD5 and expected another disappointment likeTFD and an attempt to make a quick buck on a franchise that makes a lotof money. That was not the case with this one. FD5 showed there isstill hope in the franchise. They didn't try and make us laugh thewhole time like in the 4th one. They made this one very dark, but ofcourse with some black humor that only fans of the series will laughat. And when I watch a final destination movie, I go in expecting thesame plot, but over the top gore and clever kills. And this onefulfilled my expectations. The kills are very clever and timed greatly. You keep thinking that aperson will die a certain way, and then you are wrong because somethingcompletely different will happen. They do that in the first death, which was clever and unexpected, you'll know when you see it. Theeffects are perfect and opening disaster is visually stunning.Gruesome! But awesome! And I did like how we actually cared about thecharacters and they gave us a good story and twist to the plot, wherethey can kill someone else to take their place, that put more room fora better story. And of course the best part of this movie was the crazy shockingending! I won't spoil it for you but you are going to sit there and belike WOW! The ending is hinted several times throughout, but not to apoint where you will be like Oh yeah that is probably what will happen. Its a very shocking ending and not a retarded one like the last one.You have to watch it to see what I am talking about.Overall, great sequel. You have to go in expecting to watch a FinalDestination movie, but you will be very pleased and not disappointed.Best one of the series.

Final Destination 5 delivers!

Being a huge fan of this franchise I was very impressed. I admit thefourth one was a complete joke but this one had me sold since thetrailer. I sensed the darkness of it that the first installment broughtto us back in 2000. Eric Heisserer brought a new twist to this usedplot. Sure yes the plot has been used over and over again but yet itbrings us back into the theater. The kills are very creative and thesuspense leading up to it nearly sends you out of your chair. It isindeed the most brutal and goriest of them all. Steven Quale didn'tused the 3D as a gimmick but to add depth to this awesome feature. Theending was amazing making your jaw drop in such awe that you didn'tthink it was possible. 10/10 I rate this movie and if there is a 6thFinal Destination in our future I'll be one of the first few in line towatch it! A must see for true, hardcore Final Destination fans.
