Basically a guilty pleasure, knew it would be a bad movie but didnt expect it to be so entertaining

This movie really is one of those guilty pleasure types, where you knowit's a bad movie but really enjoy watching it because of the crazyentertainment value. It also has a grindhouse feel to it as well, avery entertaining grindhouse type film. There is just certain elementsin this movie that made it entertaining despite it having a bad scriptand not a very well crafted dialogue with one liners. When I first sawthe trailer to this movie I already could tell it's going to be a badmovie, it looked like "Gone in Sixty Seconds" with a vengeance. Themovie is ridiculous and absurd in so many levels, but for a movie likethis that is one of the key factors why this movie is so enjoyable.Billy Burke is pretty good playing the cult leader but the mostentertaining actor to watch in this movie is William Fichtner as TheAccountant or the Devil's right hand man, he is great in this and Ienjoyed every scene he was in. In fact I wouldn't mind seeing a prequelor a sequel to this movie where he is the main character. What I reallyenjoyed besides William Fichtner performance is the 3D effect, this isa movie that is well worth the extra cash to see it in 3D. The 3D isvery well executed and used very well and added a lot to theentertainment factor. The sex scenes and nudity is very unique at timesand kinda funny in others. Amber Heard is beautiful in this and hot, infact I personally think the overrated Megan Fox has nothing on her whenit comes to the level of hotness. Plus Amber Heard can act a bit betterthan Megan Fox, although she is pretty in other movies she is reallybeautiful in this. It's not a movie that should be taken seriously andit knows it's not going in a serious direction and does it well, withbunch of stuff that doesn't make any sense. If your looking for a goodstory you will be disappointed, but if your looking for a crazy andentertaining balls to the wall type of movie I recommend you see this.7.6/10

well colour me curious.....

Cage plays a grandfather who must rescue the child from Bella out oftwilights dad, while avoiding William fichtner. He gets Mandy lane tohelp him (all the boys love her), and sets out to rescue her. The onlyproblem is Satan wasn't happy about him leaving hell without permissionand taking the god killer.......Well this has to be one of the most absurd things i've seen at thecinema, and this is the film that death proof and machete should havebeen.Cage relishes these parts, and he is as crazy as he normally is, thecage you loved in Face/off, Kick-ass, and Leaving las Vegas, not theautopilot one.He drinks beer from skull, gets shot in the eye, and has a gunfightwhilst having sex, classic Cage moments. A lot of people will baulk atthe idea of this movie, and to be fair, it's a mess, but a damn finemess, where everyone is having fun and delivering classic lines tonguein cheek. As good as Cage is though, he is burned off the screen by Fichtner andBurke, who have all the best lines and the best scenes. Fichtnercampily dancing to K.C. and the sunshine band whilst driving is easilythe best thing in the film, and Burke plays one hell of a villain.Surprisingly, it's not as violent as you have heard, but there isplenty of other stuff. The 3D is jaw dropping (in one scene quite literally), and is easilythe best since Avatar. it's purely for spectacle and the makers throweverything at you, from coins to body parts. If this film wasn't madein 3D, honestly it would just be an average film. The 3D enhances the narration and story in some way, which other filmshaven't needed up to now.It will split audiences 50/50, it's that type of movie, you will eitherlove it or hate it, but no one can deny that this will be a cult hit inabout ten years.Even though Cage looks like Noel Edmonds in this, he has found a newforte. Trashy movies. With great support and a short running time, thisis one of the most fun times you will have at the cinema for a longtime to come.do not wait for the blu ray

Drive Angry 3D in cinema

Probably the worst movie with Nicolas Cage produced ever, bad storyline, bad effect, overall bad script.Honestly if anyone pays to watch this film in cinema is making an awfulmistake, I wanted a refund after watching this movie. Badcinematography, bad screenplay, awful plot I have no idea what thedirector of this film was honestly thinking when producing this flick, probably he wanted to get some quick cash and by putting one famousactor into it attract major audience, yes it has worked on some peoplelike me being lead into a movie theater with false hope to see somehorribly scripted movie with an insanely cut budget probably, where 90%of the effects were horrible.

Youre better of doing anything else with your time.

I have this bizarre almost masochistic love of Nick Cage. I havecontinually subjected my loved ones to my illness by doing things likedragging them to see National Treasure 2 and nearly spoiling Christmas2007. Even my poor wife has been coerced in to an ambitious goal ofwatching every Cage movie ever made. Of the 71ish that are inexistence, we have seen about 43 of them.Queue up Drive Angry. We intentionally avoided it in theaters – perhapsit was our bad Canadian director sense tingling. My friend and I agreedto watch it and he went at it alone. I got texts like "It's so dark"and "Is this one of those videos you watch and then die?". I tingledwith excitement, but a little nervousness. The disc of horror wascoated with an unassuming silver label, but the Summit logo couldn't behidden in all that shiny.Drive Angry masquerades as grindhouse. Real grindhouse is exploitativeschlock that's so cheaply made it's kind of fun. "Filmed in 3D" and"$50 million budget" don't really fit in with this model. Nick Cage'sacting definitely does. The movie opens on some sort of cluttered, hellish scenery. I think. Iwas confused for most of the film. I developed pains down my left side. Then Nick Cage drives, and drives, and drives, and drives. And shoots, and has sex, and shoots, and mumbles about revenge and how he was goingto kill EVERYBODY. His powers of persuasion are so strong, he convincesa sniveling waitress to slaughter a few cops. Good man. This rot raises so many questions: What am I doing with my life? Are mycareer goals really being reached? Will my marriage last in the face ofNick Cage movies? Why does every car in Drive Angry world flip end overend when it hits, oh.. say, a cooler? Are we really to believe thatCage is appealing to any woman, even the leathery hags casting dredgedup in Louisiana? Don't cars EVER run out of gas? Who is The Accountant– God, Jesus, or just a clone of Prison Break's Alex Mahone? And what of these accents? If I recall, the movie opens up in Colorado, then moves to Oklahoma. Amber Heard's horrendous accent – if you cancall that dog-like whining of hers talking – gets worse throughout thefilm. Just to verify, I jumped from the diner scene at the beginning tovarious spots throughout the film. Sure enough it was totallyinconsistent. For the life of me, I could not find a dialog coach inthe credits. I'd say that explains it, but we know it doesn't.I'd complain that the blatant 3D effects (whoa, did you see that bulletcasing fill up the whole screen??) are ruining movies for anybody thatdoesn't buy in to having a 3D TV at home, but I've yet to run acrossany movies with such absurd effects worth watching even once. DriveAngry is no different – it was packed full of obvious things stickingout in to the crowd for no reason but to make full use of those 3Dcameras. I wonder if there will be a restoration kick in few yearswhere movies will be re-released as "Now in 2D!"You're better off sitting down for a session of Penn and Teller'sDesert Bus video game than watching Drive Angry. At least the drivingwill be more realistic.

Love this movie, blu-ray is awesome

No spoilers here. Just wanna say that this movie is exactly as advertised. The women are hot, the action is intense, and the bluray is awesome. Both the video quality and audio are amazing. You can't pass up the price either. Get it while you can......

Expected better

Nicolas Cage can be hot and cold. He has some great movies like raising arizona, but has some realy duds too. If your getting this for the blu ray 3D then its not worth it. I have a Samsung 53" Led TV. This movie didn't look so great in 3D. I watched the movie but the 3d was bad, There where some cool scenes with some good effects but over all I was disappointed with the 3D. I really hope the studios can start making some good live action films that pop, I know it can be done I watch the imax river 3d movie and the opening scene with the was a big suprise, if only the movie could be more consistanly good..

ROSEMARYS GRINDHOUSE

This is another grindhouse movie with major stars in it. If you enjoyed this one try "Machete" which I thought was better. There are plenty of chase scenes, gun scenes, nudity (not Amber) and sex. Cage is on a quest to save his granddaughter from a Satanic cult who plan to sacrifice the child at the next full moon. He leaves from Loveland Colorado (great cherry cider) and goes to Texas after the cult. He picks up the foul mouthed waitress Amber Heard who somehow has a varying southern accent. Heard does wear those skimpy Daisy Dukes early on, but changes out of them for most of the movie. In addition to fighting the satanic cult, a man known as "The Accountant" with some supernatural abilities is chasing Cage and has convinced the police to chase him too, even to the extent of crossing state lines (Note: Colorado police in Oklahoma making the whole thing unbelievable.)The primary grindhouse scene is Cage having sex with a waitress while engaged in a shootout. One of the characteristics of a good grindhouse movie is a great soundtrack. This one lacked a great soundtrack. At one point toward the end, they were playing KC and the Sunshine Band. (-2 stars) They spent all that money on actors and destroying vehicles and went cheap on the tunes.

One of the best BAD movies I have seen in ages

I didn't know what to expect from Drive Angry. Nicholas Cage is hit ormiss, love him or hate him, and the concept for Drive Angry seemedridiculous and then as I began to watch the movie I realized...it isridiculous!! It is supposed to be ridiculous, over the top, exploitative, hilariously bad, B-Movie, drive in classic type film andit nails every single on of those things on the head. Absurdly andinsanely violent, rife with bad language, full of nudity and aridiculous storyline and you have to let go and just laugh and go alongfor the insane ride. The violence is so insanely over the top that itis goes away from gory and right into ridiculous and you'll just laughat the ridiculous death scenes and believe me there are plenty. Thereis no way that they made this not knowing that they were aiming for aGrindhouse type spoof movie and I think they did it brilliantly. I wentalong for the ride and loved every single minute of it. The film can besummed up in one scene...Nicholas Cage is having sex with some bar roomhooker and a constant stream of guys burst in the room to kill him. Hecontinues having sex with her while blowing the guys away one by one ingory gruesome glory. Yes this is a movie for adults and its insanelyover the top.Considering the context of the film and what they set out to do theycould not have possibly picked a better actor for this than NicholasCage. First of all he loves playing characters pulled from Hell. Secondof all he always has that B-movie schlock feel about him. He looks andfeels the part and he works in it. No one could have done it better.Amber Heard is the sleazy, white trash girl who gets caught up in themadness with Cage. She's trashy, filthy mouthed and still looks hot asanything so she is perfect in the movie too. Her and Cage have abizarre chemistry that seems to work well. William Fichtner is epic. What else can I say about this guy? I have become such a fan of hissince Prison Break but he just absolutely shines in this movie as theaccountant from Hell, and Cage's nemesis. He is brilliantly evil, horrifically violent and he literally steals every scene he is in. Imean it when I saw he deserved an award for this role. Billy Burkegives a great performance as the cult leader that Cage is out for bloodfrom. I would have liked to have seen more from Burke in the film buthe still makes for a solid villain.I actually think director Patrick Lussier is an excellent director butyou have to take his films and him for what he is. He isn't aiming forOscars or critics choice. He tells strictly entertaining horror typethrillers. His Dracula 2000 was a brilliant re-telling of the classicstory. He likes gore and he likes making movies that you don't have tothink a lot about. This was the perfect example of a B-Movie. I couldwatch this again and again!! You have to know what you're going into.It is very adult, very exploitative, and not a serious movie by anystretch of the imagination. Its the perfect Bachelor party movie, orfor a classic 70's cinema night. If you think you like this genre ofwork then please see this because I think it will become a cult classicin no time. 9/10

A must for Cage fans! (only?)

This review is from: Drive Angry [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray) Lots of action, very typical, outrageously ridiculous and unbelievable plot for Cage & Company. Total entertainment with no thinking involved! Excellent for what it is! If you are a Cage fan with an open imagination to fantasy and Cage silliness, you will like this movie. If not, don't buy it!.

Goofy, Over-the-Top Mayhem = Instant Cult Film

Drive Angry has everything you could want from a trashy action film: cool muscle cars, over-the-top shoot-outs, larger than life baddies, and a cool good guy with a mission. There is an audio commentary by director Patrick Lussier and co-screenwriter Todd Farmer. Lussier jokingly refers to Drive Angry as his "subtle, gentle road movie," and battles through a bad case of laryngitis, which makes it difficult at times to understand what he's trying to say. But he soldiers on with Farmer as they talk about how the film was made. The two men tell all kinds of filming anecdotes as they talk us through filming. Lussier points out that Clint Eastwood's protagonist in High Plains Drifter was the model for Nicolas Cage's character. They give shout-outs to various crew members' contributions on this solid track."How To: Drive Angry" is one of the better promotional featurettes. Amazingly, the studio gave the filmmakers the creative freedom to do a hard R-rated supernatural action film. They talk about shooting in 3D as opposed to converting it in post-production. The filmmakers also talk about working with a modest budget and solving certain problems creatively as opposed to throwing a lot of money at it a la Michael Bay. It's nice to see that many of the stunts in the film were done practically."Milton's Mayhem" is an amusing extra that compiles all of Milton's action sequences and attributes a point system to every punch and gunshot like something out of a video game. Finally, there are two deleted scenes with optional commentary by Lussier and Farmer. We see a little more with Piper and her boyfriend and another scene with the Accountant that were both rightly cut.

Terrible, just terrible

This has to be one, if not the worst films I've seen at the cinema.I knew this wasn't going to be amazing, but come on it was so bad andmade very little sense.Nicolas Cage looked bored the whole way through , his worst acting jobI've seen to date, I've now made the descision never to see any more ofhis films after seeing this and Knowing. He also had this ridclioushairstyle making him look like a Robert Plant lookalike to add to thisridiculous film, i swear his face didn't change the whole way through, just the same stupid expression muttering unexplained story lines. You may watch the trailer n think "yeh this will be great , Nicolascage n a blonde shooting people in a muscle car" no wrong. It turns outit is just some nonsense about the satanic worshippers and a guybreaking out of hell to get them, Really Nick? is this what levelyou've dropped too? I just have no words to describe how bad this was,at some points there is serious violence which is just stupid, and thenits trying to be funny and it fails and then it trys to bemeaningful.Just a blurry mess of rubbish. This film also highlights why 3D needs to stop. As if 3D is a new coolthing? no its not, its about 50 years old, just because its betterquality means nothing and adds nothing to the film, instead every 5minutes there's a bullet or a axe flying at you, yeh great, but I'veseen it over and over again. 3D is only being pursued because they knowthey can charge more for it and they can sell T.V's like they did withHD, well I'm sorry but 3D will not work and if you don't believe me gowatch this film.1/10 AVOID THIS FILM AT ALL COSTS, Don't WASTE YOUR MONEY

So outrageous that anyone with a passion for gritty, violent, cheesy, car chase-filled seventies action cinema will find things to appreciate about it.

DRIVE ANGRY (2010): with Nicolas Cage, Amber Heard, William Fichtner,Billy Burke and David Morse, directed by Patrick Lussier. Rating: 6/10.THIS wild, bizarre, ultra violent seventies-style grindhouse actionhorror flick finds Nic Cage wearing perhaps his most ridiculous onscreen wig yet. Cage is pretty cool, though, as John Milton, a hauntedfather who escapes from Hell (with the Devil's right hand man, playedby William Fichtner, in hot pursuit) and sets out to save hisgranddaughter from satanic cult leader Jonah King (Billy Burke) who isabout to sacrifice the infant under a full moon.Milton teams up with a tough, two-fisted, hot pants-wearing waitressnamed Piper (Amber Heard) - who has had enough of her cheatingboyfriend and certainly does not hit like a girl , and the two head offdown the Louisiana highway in a stolen 1969 Dodge Charger."Drive Angry 3D" is not subtle, and the amount of blood-spatteredviolence and the abundant nudity ensure that is not for all tastes. Noris it a particularly good film. Plus, it falls to pieces abouttwo-thirds of the way through. But it so outrageous that anyone, likeme, with a passion for gritty, violent, cheesy, car chase-filledseventies action cinema will find things to appreciate about it. Theperformances are interesting (especially from Fichtner and Morse),Heard is real easy on the eyes, a lecherous fat man gets his testiclestwisted by Piper, and it contains the funniest, most violent, audaciousand shocking sex scene/shoot out ever seen on the screen. Plus, the 3Deffects are rather good.
