The new four ladies to replace Sex and the City.
I missed the first episode of Desp. Housewives and watched the secondone because of all the hype. I fell in love. It's the best show on TV.Watch Sex and the City Re Runs before this at 8 on HBO and you willhave 2 hours of the best shows I consider to ever be on TV. The show isfunny, has drama, suspense and all the good stuff. Just when you thinkyou know everything that is going to happen something in the endhappens that you were not expecting. If you ever miss an episode watchthe rerun on Saturday nights at 10 and then go out after that LOL. Lovethe show and will watch until for whatever reason it will be cancelledwithc better not be anytime soon.

My soul is dead tired - no more punch please
At the beginning I really loved the show and identified myself as a'Desperate Housewifes' fan. I liked the humor a lot, I laughed upsometimes so hard, it was really unexpected and well done. I loved thebeautiful main actors, the superb Maserati and Porsche sports cars. AndI loved the tension from one episode to the other, I just couldn't stopmyself not watching it again. But then, after finishing with the 23 episodes of Series 1, althoughI'm interested to find out what happens next, I'm a bit tired of theconstant lack of morals. There's no one person I can like in the show, because until now, everyone turned out to be a liar, a killer, a thiefin the end, who has no hearts, and I prefer to identify myself withheroes of positive values. When I watch a movie, it's a one piece thing and I can resolve myselfeven if it's about things I don't agree on. I watch it and digest it asI want. I know who's bad and who's right, or even when the situation isnot so clear, I can get trough it. However, here I got tired watchingin every episode somebody killing his neighbor, lying in the face ofhis/her husband or taking deep revenge on a beloved one.The narrative voice in the beginning and the end of each episode isintegrate part of the plot and adds a lot to the enjoyment. Thefunniest character to me was Edie with her constant winning over menshe doesn't care about and failure over men she wants. Although anantipathetic character, Bree is super well played, the no-emotions-outstyle is 100% authentic. So, although I liked the jokes, I find acting is great overall, I havehad this punch in my stomach after every episode, which I don't like torepeat. The main catch of the series is 'what happens next'. However, Ijust found on the net many sources and articles detailing thehappenings of each episode. I just read in for curiosity, and found outI'm not that interested at all to follow what's happening. It's prettymuch the same - someone kills or lies or betrays again so the plot istwisted again. But this is not that interesting to me anymore.

Best show ever by far!!
Everyone I know can't get enough of this. It is SO perfectly written inevery aspect and a perfect mix of drama, mystery, and comedy. It isalso the most popular thing to ever hit pop culture. You can not lookthrough a magazine without seeing Marcia, Eva, Teri, Nicollette, andFelicity. This show is really a phenomenon!! I am loving every minuteof it!! Everywhere I go, I see them on the cover of magazines andpeople wearing shirts that say "I love Desperate Housewives". Peopleseriously can't get enough of it. And, the cast is amazingly gorgeous!!The women are all gorgeous especially Eva Longoria and the men arebeautiful!! I love the dark comedy and the story lines are so differentfrom anything else you've ever seen!!

this show is just plain amazing
The first season (and the pilot) was just great, people thought season2 wasn't on par, but i thought it was still well written, justfantastically acted dramedy, and the third season is just as great.AAALLLLLLLLLLLLL the actors and actressess(MOSTLY actresses) are TOPNOTCH, especially Felicity Huffman, Marcia cross, and Nicolettesheridan is good too.The BEST EPISODE would have to be season 3's BANG. truly the mostdramatic episode, and i must say, even though the comedy is superb, theDRAMA IS EVEN BETTER.this show does a Phenomenal job showing horrible and dark events that(although really out there) could happen in a little (but perfect)suburban setting. This show and LOST are musts to watch, but i have to say DesperateHousewives takes the cake.: )

Desperately Wanting More
I'm gonna address something in a serious tone, that is way unlike thepremiere of Desperate Housewives. Television, has gotten entirely tooserious. It has! Even its comedies can be horribly depressing. As I sat watching the premiere of Desperate Housewives, I found myselfdoing something I haven't done in quite some time, and that is"smiling," No, I mean, a huge smile, a GRIN of thankfulness.I have a theory that most pilot scripts suck, because they areestablishing a series, I have hardly ever liked a PILOT script, even ifthey do their job well which is establish character and the mood of theshow. The great story telling comes after the pilot. The only good pilot I have seen in recent years, was the pilot forALIAS (brilliant) now a week ago, I saw the PILOT for LOST (edge ofyour seat good). But even those were topped by the intricate, hysterical, amazing pilot script for DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. If thewriters are out there, reading this, 1. Thank You. 2. why are youreading this, get to writing more of this wonderful show. They also have gotten a superb cast of women. OLDER WOMEN! WOMEN WOMEN,not some 20 something year olds with bland looks on their faces andpouty lips! But Talented, amazing, beautiful, WOMEN (and I'm a guy inmy 20's) I appreciate that... WOMEN over 40 ROCK! I speak of course ofFelicity Huffman, who can do more with one line of Dialogue, than anyother actress I know. This show, brings also the RETURN of TerriHatcher, THANK GOD! It's about TIME!! And it also brings me, MARCIACROSS, an actress who should have been given an EMMY for her brilliant, heartbreaking work in EVERWOOD last season. The producers/Direction/showrunners of the show, have established alook for the show. it's American BEAUTY on ACID. A gorgeous use ofcolor and cinematography, of scoring, and well, I mention it again, because it's so important... GREAT WRITING!On every level, the PILOT for DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES impresses. It hasbite, humor and heart. I hope that it will be around for a long time. But even this one episode is enough to remind people everywhere, thatnetwork television can still be FUN!

Not That Desperate
I don't know what's worse about Desperate Housewives: its contempt forwomen, its shrill sense of humor, the incessant tinkle of itsElfman-esquire score, or its lame attempts at making its Backlot,Hollywood aesthetic seem as if it exists in the real world. In onescene, Susan (Hatcher) opens the door to Mike (James Denton), windblowing in her face and through her hair. You can't help but laugh, notbecause the creators mean to evoke the tableaux of a harlequin romancecover, but because they dare to suggest that air actually circulatesthroughout Wisteria Lane. Do I care how long it's going to take forSusan to crack the mystery writhing inside Betty's basement? Notreally. I'm just concerned that next season's hook is going to revolvearound an Asian family, a litter of puppies, and a box of Koreanbarbecue. Accused of hawking a lurid form of conservatism, you get asense Marc Cherry and his cohorts intend to say something profoundabout suburbia with their outmoded view of womanhood and the placesthey call home. What that message is I'm not exactly sure, and anyonewho tells you otherwise simply doesn't know sh*t.

So... is the spice over?
When Sex & The City has gone everybody didn't know what to do... whatnew series would replace this one in people's heart? So, when I watchedDesperate Housewives for the first time I thought: This is the bestshow ever to replace S&TC.The first season was very impressive. The story was truly simple andthe writers did a very good job puzzling the plot. A lot of mystery, alot of strange facts and a season finale explaining everything and justpresenting new neighbors as the front row for the next season facts.Second season was more dramatic than the darker humor of the firstseason. The actresses were fabulous and their stories were very wellexplored, but as the season finale was coming things were looking somekind familiar. Seems like they are just recycling some past issues, adding some new things just to say people that the stories are beingdifferent. The path thru next seasons seems going to the same way as Melrose: makeWisteria Lane a place where everything possible and impossible canhappen, throwing away the fictional plot and taking back of the dustytombs the nonsense just to keep people watching for the absurdhappenings. That's OK... stills being a great show, but producers and writers, thisis not an island where people are lost... fix it while is possible.

I want more !!!!!!!!!
There aren't enough superlatives for this unbelievable TV show !!!That's WONDERFUL, EXCELLENT, FANTASTIC, AWESOME, MARVELLOUS, ... !!! Iwas a bit skeptic at the beginning (what ? Oh, a girl's series...)...but after I saw the first episode, I wasn't able to stop watching it !I watched the 23 episodes of Season One in... 4 days ! Every characteris endearing and funny. We cry with Susan, we hate Bree, we laugh atEdie, we feel sorry for Lynette, we admire Gabrielle, we feel likeasking Mike about his past... The idea is very simple (an Americanneighborhood with chatting neighbors) but the result is sensational !!!I think this is the best TV show since Friends ! How many years is itgonna go on ? 10 ? Maybe a bit more... I hope so ! But it would be anexploit...

Seasons 1-4 were great, but Season 5 is a major let-down
I have been watching Desperate Housewives since the Season 2 premiereback in 2005. For years, I have been intrigued by the mysteries thesewriters leave off for us. I got a chance to watch Season 1 fromNetflix. I have to say: Season 1 was the juiciest, Season 2 flubbed abit, Season 3 picked up, and Season 4 got juicier, and Season 5 wentcomplete sour. Season 5 leaves Susan so annoying and stupid andKatherine really boring. Also, it makes viewers want a main characterto be killed off. And Tom is seriously psycho now. I think the writershave lost it and seriously should reconsider what they've done and tryto make it better, not make it worse. The 5 year jump was not a verygood idea and barley noticeable that they had jumped 5 years.Everything seems still the same as usual. I think a serious twist isneed for DH to pick itself up again, and quickly!

Susan is a lucky woman
Susan is a lucky woman. Everyone likes her and protect her(maybe exceptEdie),Mike,Julie, Ian, and so on. Her carelessness is tolerated and sheis always the one being protected. Bree suffered a lot from herchildren. Now she is happy because Andrew becomes a quintessential son.But his change is a little unreasonable. And since when he has become agay? He was surely not at first. In his words, he just lied to avoidthe punishment. The women there have so different characters, but theyall have one thing in common-the motherhood. Their love for children isthe same. Today is Mother's Day. May all the mothers all over the worldenjoy a good day.

Desperate viewers
I really like this show. At first, I wasn't so fond mainly due to someover the top elements (The mystery, the cliffhangers) but now I'm justsitting back and enjoying what it's mostly great TV.It is a surprising mixture of "Sex and the city" and "American beauty".To all those who say why does this gets compared to "Sex...", let'ssee... the four main characters are women, basically stereotypes ofthem: the slut (Samantha - Gabrielle), the uptight traditional (Bree -Charlotte), the sarcastic career woman (Lynette - Miranda) and theneurotic main girl (Carrie - Susan). And then there is the voice-overthat ties every story at the end and explains a few bits, and the waythe plots are sometimes just based on little details or have a fewsteps... Of course they are not carbon copy:Mainly the stereotypes arethe same but the characters are not, and here the voice over is comingfrom a dead woman... but still, I am convinced It can be said that, atleast, that "Sex" was a prominent inspiration in the process ofdeveloping "HOusewives".From "American beauty" it gets the whole satire about Americansuburbia, the dark humor (The Danny Elfman theme is in this sense notonly appropriate, but fantastic) and the "whodunit" mystery. I was atfirst saddened by the fact that they had to introduce this particularelement - LIke it happened in "American", it seems to me that theydidn't trust their character development enough so they have to addsomething to hook viewers-, and a murder mystery which is such a farfetched thing that makes the whole show lose realism and for me thatmeans less fun. If satire is too exaggerated you lose someidentification, you don't see yourself recognized in the plot and thecharacters as much. But then, I started to enjoy that too in a soap -opery kind of way. It doesn't make the show better, but I've learned tolive with it.And for all those who say that the characters are amoral and such...What world are you from? We all lie, cheat and do nasty things in reallife. Sure the show exaggerates those bits ( that is why It's calledSATIRE, people!) but that is what makes it funny, and also human. Ifyou don't wanna see TV or films about people who make mistakes, who arenot perfect, who do "bad" things - although sometimes the lines between"right" or "wrong" are so difficult to establish, but whatever - ...well, don't watch anything then. Because most fiction is about flawed, and therefore HUMAN people. If you are so perfect, you don't lie, younever stole, you never cheat, you never hurt others... you may be thegreatest person in the world, but your life will be never made into amovie or a show, cause It's boring. It's the contradictions, the greyarea situations, that normally make for great fiction.Aaah, but people complain is not the wrong actions, it is that the showapparently endorses them. Just cause It doesn't overtly punish them.Maybe it is just that the writers of the show trust you to be cleverenough to have your own judgment on the characters and their behavior, instead of awarding the "good" and punishing the "bad" deeds. Fictionis not supposed to be moralist, it doesn't have to spell a lesson orshove a "be good" message down our collective throats. Unless it isintended for kids, which "Desperate housewives" is clearly not.A friend of mine recorded a few episodes and send them to me;I live inSpain, and TV here is quite dreadful. I've heard one of the mainchannels have bought "Desperate" and will air it sometime this year, and I can not wait to see the reactions here, and be able to talk topeople about it. It is, mainly, lots of fun, and for a desperate TVviewer, that is a lot.

You gotta love the dirty laundry...
I only started watching the series recently, and I fell in love withit. When it first came out here, I was like "Oh, God... Please no.. Notanother lame TV series." Over a year or two passed and I still haven'twatched the series. About a month ago, my sister started watching itand I was all, "Not you too." But she was like "It's awesome and you'regonna love it." She made me sit down and watch the pilot.... Little didI know that she was right. I did love it.The series is an excellent show. It's very well written and acted.Sure, there are some typical plots and situations, and the samescenarios, but craftily woven around it is an amazing theme and story. The voice over and summary of Mary Alice Young is so good andwonderful. You may be like me in the start, hesitant to watch it. But trust me,it's worth it.

Down hill.
Desperate Housewives began with a bang in season 1 but with a revolvingdoor of cast changes starting in season 2 and the 5 year time jump,Marc Cherry might as well drive a nail through the series coffin. Forthe past 2 seasons, the series has had a number of recycled stories. The latest falls on Susan Mayer who is once again unlucky in love andhaving issues with her love life. Tom, Lynnette's husband is once againfinding ways to liven up his miserable existence to his miserable hagof a wife. The show needs to end this season or next at the most.Further delays would severely cripple what remains of this one timehit.

Poor Mans American Beauty
This show is terrible! I would rather see the worst episode of Six FeetUnder than this piece of crap.It is no surprise with the clever promos that millions tuned in to seewhat it was about. It suckered me right in.However, in reality, these dated, stale, stereotypical characters holdnothing for me. At least in American Beauty, the characters wererelevant and contemporary. This was like one big long dizzying cartoonyspoof of an old fashioned TV commercical from the 60's or 70's. I mean, are we supposed to be shocked that hispanics can be wealthy andwomen can have affairs? And, that a well-off former corporate woman isovercome by her hyperactive kids?? Three words.. "GET A NANNY" Comeon!!! The dialogue and situations were completely contrived andunbelievable, like the perfect popsicle stick sculpture convenientlybeing there to clog a drain. The script was cleverly structured in a way that seemed disguised theshow's many flaws at it's core. How are these boring people goingventure off of this claustrophobic back lot street?I read somewhere else that the writer had created several other TVshows that failed or were quickly cancelled. This is no surprise, asthis pilot is based on a flashy, falsely promising premise thatultimately is hollow and unenlightened. It is simply uncontemporary atits root.I seem to be in the vast minority. But I for one, will not be tuningback in to see what (doesn't) happen.

Desperate Housewives For Desperate Housewives !
It's not (Knots Landing) with consecutive murders and funny mysteries. It's a comedy. Black comedy sometimes, or sex comedy at times, thatmanaged to be interesting and entertaining, and that's it ! Actually I brought up the matter of the TV's masterpiece (KnotsLanding) not because the presence of Nicollette Sheridan only, or beinga show that centers on the suburban neighborhood also, but because it'snearly attractive and lovely as the old one. There are few points thatreminded me of it : (Bree/ Marcia Cross) wipes the floor when she feelsdisparate, the way (Valene/ Joan Van Ark) did back in the 1980s'suburbia. But sorry, still there is a big difference between them both.(Knots Landing) began as a primetime soap opera with social interestsand the feel of the 1980s' other soap operas where the games of moneyand sex rule like the die-hard lavish parties of the era : Dallas,Dynasty, Falcon Crest, albeit somehow the social interests prevailedeventually. Desperate Housewives took the middle class's life and mixedit with the hotness as well as the outrageous touch of the other side,to establish a formula for its own where fun is the ultimate goal.Forget about the wise narration (some of it are clever though), forgetabout the show being a character study, and forget about reading itscommunity accurately. It's a ride of absolute wittiness, where thescripts in highly professional way give you some enjoyable moments tolaugh, to be excited, only. It's beautiful as it skillfully delivers every time (till now) a wickedjoy with unstoppable surprises yet the ironies weren't that meaningfulor that deeply serious. It's a show, manipulates its characters, generates loose mood, for the sake of being a show, and the desire tomaintain watchable. Like many hits of the 2000s' TV (Alias, PrisonBreak, etc) it aims mainly to produce thrill, yet I've always believedthat as much fascinating that could be, as much easy it is withoutpoints of view to observe a society in its very moment. For instancethe characters are caricatures more than humans. But let's not forget;this was originally a comic show that had been rejected from almost allthe networks till they added the blood to it. Typical for the 2000s Ithink; the CSI's era !The cast is solid. I must refer to 2 talents. Firstly (Teri Hatcher),this is her biggest breakthrough to assure how sensitive, comedic, charismatic she is (I deemed it a very late discovering). And secondly(Eva Longoria) who's a treasure; I've never witnessed such spontaneityin TV unless rarely, she can do comedy as simple as you taking a tissueout of its box! (P.S : Andrea Bowen is just ugly !).As a black (or sex) comedy, yes it works. As a thrill, it's very good. But as a social commentary, it deals with the present's darknesshowever generally and lightly. And it's not Knots Landing- the nextgeneration, or maybe it is as the TV's next type of thinking when itcomes to making shows. As I feel the rarity or the absence of anythingserious on the TV right now. So, after all it's for any housewives (orelse) who's desperate to have a bit of pastime in their time away fromthe house and its troubles !..And that's exactly why my mom used to call the show "Mad Women" !

Horrible show
Hype can sell anything. I tried to watch this boring,stereotype-pushing piece of poor cinema three times before I could makemyself sit through an entire episode. The actresses in this show haveproved that they are limited to TV celebrity status. None of them haveever been in a movie where their acting has shown (sometimes theirbodies are shown in such movie classics as Heaven's Prisoners and theCool Surface). Also, Tango and Cash, that was a great cinematic moment. But playing across from Stallone? That is better than playing acrossfrom Newman or Steiger when it comes to bringing out true actingtalent. The obvious, over-the-top hyping of this show on Good Morning Americais a true ipecac. Every Friday and every Monday Charlie, Diane, andRobin talk about the show as if it were the most important news item ofthe day.If DH were a magazine, you would find it in the grocery store checkoutline over the tic tacs and next to People Magazine.Real art and talent deserves to be recognized. This show deserves to becanceled. However, given the garbage on TV, this show ranks about in the middle.Where are the Seinfeld's, the Bob Newhart's. the Cheers, the Taxi's?Will we ever have a really good TV show again or will we be force fedthis soap opera debris and told that it is great and nod our heads likeso many marionettes in agreement. The real allure of the show? Sexy middle aged chicks pretending to havesex.

I Cant Believe How GOOD this is!
Wow. I have never really seen anything like this program on everydaynetwork television. And I thought it was fantastic, especially for apilot. It is one part black comedy, one part quirky drama, and two parts (andthis is my favorite), mystery. There is lots of intrigue and plenty ofunanswered questions bubbling under the surface, and I just can't waitto see how they are answered. The actresses (including Teri Hatcher,Marcia Cross, and Felicity Huffman) are comfortably nestled withintheir skill set and are campy without being over-the-top. The twistsand turns are unexpected and left me yearning for more. I can't waitfor next Sunday!

truly a gift from the heavens.I DESPERATELY want more!
Desperate Housewives is arguably one of the greatest shows of ALLtime. It's my personal favorite show forever!.When I first saw the showon TV,i cried.and i mean a lot!.But i was crying tears of joy, knowingthat there was finally one show worth paying attention to.It'smysterious, hilarious, funny and emotional at the same time.Marc Cherryblended these elements superbly!.I have the DVD (complete 1stseason),and I spent 10 hours every day watching Desperate Housewivesagain and again.I love the acting(Gotta commend Marcia Cross andFelicity Huffman, they were perfect!),the script, the .............ok ,tomake it short: EVERYTHING!.I personally like Episodes 8(Bree learnsabout Andrew taking Marijuana,Gabrielle nearly got red-handed,if itwasn't for the "accident" Andrew made.),9( Lynette meets Claire,Susanlearns about Gabrielle's lusty secret,Gabrielle lead a charitablemodeling show, and we learn more about "Dana")and 4(Susan and Edie fightfor Mike). But every single episode was perfect!.By The way,FelicityHuffman really deserved her award. It is ten GAZILLION notches higherthan any other comedy show.Hands down to Desperate Housewives,Truly agift from heaven!!!.P.S We love you Marc Cherry. You did a masterpiece; You are truly a giftto housewives/women,married or single/everyone!.THE VERDICT:10/10 The best of the best.I LOVE IT!

Desperate for more!
The show 'Desperate Housewives' is the best show on television since'Leave it to Beaver'. I know that long! But I mean the show just givesme (personally) the "exciting" feeling. I can't wait for 1.)Sundaynights at 9:00 2.)The ending montage 3.)the DVD to be released 4.)Lesssex, more drama. These are the things I expect of during the season.Sometimes I do get emotional during the scenes. Because it makes mefeel upset if someone dies I don't care who it is. The reason why Irate this show '10 out of 10' is because of the drama that fills theshow. I show in season five will be fast forwarding five years fromnow. Susan is married to a new guy (not mike, and not Nathan Fillion).I love this show, I am probably the only male teenager in the worldthat likes this show! But hey what can I say it's a soap. I love soaps! For now this Matt Dugan! DUGAN OUT!

Desperate Actresses
I can't believe how the critics have applauded this mess, the titleshould be called Desperate Actresses, because they are basically takingno talent actresses and putting them in a medium mostly that women canrelate to, how a woman is a stay home mother and deals with keeping afamily together, who cares!!, Women want more than to stay home andturn into vegetables, most of them work unless you are a lazy woman whohas no purpose or unless they are married to a man with an aboveaverage income, they wind up getting divorced and wind up on the foodstamp line, Teri Hatcher is at most a below average actress, and sheshould keep her clothes on!!, Nicolette Sheridan hasn't been in aseries since Knot's Landing, this show should be cancelled soon
