Bad Teacher Not That bad, But Bad
I went into watching "Bad Teacher" thinking I would hate it. I did nothate it, so it gets a gold star thanks to my low expectations! CameronDiaz is perfect for the role, she is a good comedic actress. The restof the cast was adequate, some a little too slapstick at times.A lot of what Cameron Diaz says in the movie is profane and should makea lot of people laugh. I personally laughed twice, the laugh ratio willbe different person to person, for example: a person I watched it withwas pushed to tears by the car wash scene. The laughs are there, whether or not they find you is up to your own sense of humor. You maywant to dumb it down a bit.As a movie though, it lacks a good story. It is a funny simple plotbasis, funny concept, but the execution is wonky. I never felt like thecharacter had any kind of arc, which would be fine, except she startsmaking decisions and the ending acts like she actually did have an arc.Everything that happens plot-wise is predictable, you're not going toreally be thrown any surprises, but loosen up and just veg out and youmight find the same two laughs that I did.

The word bad may be in the title, but Bad Teacher is anything but!
It may have the word "bad" in its title, but this film is anything but.Within the first few minutes, I was laughing and I practically didn'tstop the whole time. As is with some of the great R-rated comedies ofthe last few years (i.e. The Hangover and Knocked Up), this moviefeatures some of the funniest writing.. making for a very raunchy buthilarious good time! I'm a pretty big fan of Cameron Diaz, anyway, soit's always fun to see her do something she hasn't really donebefore... and playing the foul-mouthed, junior high teacher ElizabethHalsey was just a great casting job! While the storyline is a prettyshallow one and you won't find any moral lesson here, it is still justabout everything you could wish for in a comedy. It centers around Ms.Halsey whose engagement was just broken off on the terms that she is a"gold digger." As she begins to work her charm on the new substituteteacher, though, she finds herself going head-to-head with one of theschool's most well-loved teachers, Amy Squirrel. The main cast is rounded out by the hilarious Lucy Punch, JustinTimberlake and Jason Segal, as well as a great supporting cast thatincludes Phyllis Smith, John Michael Higgins, Eric Stonestreet andMolly Shannon. You could not ask for a funnier ensemble! It may nothave any values, but if you're looking to have some laughs and a greattime at the movies.. you'll definitely want to check this movie out!

Cameron Diaz is an incompetent teacher who wants to get a boob job. There is a prize for the teacher whose kids do the best so she uses any means to get it.
Very bad film.Nothing funny in this film at all. I kept on waiting for the comedymoments but they did not materialise at all.Moral of the story seems to be to be that the only way is to lie andcheat your way through life.90 minutes wasted.Don't be tempted when you see that Cameron Diaz is in it. Even shecan't save the film.I have watched a lot of movies, good and bad. This is the worst one Ihave ever seen.Stay away otherwise you will end up regretting it.

BAD Teacher
This review is from: Bad Teacher (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo) (Blu-ray) A new slant on life. Makes a person thoughtful about some of the truisms of life, not only in teaching; but nearly every vocation as well.

Really Bad Film
I don't usually get this far off in judging a film before I go see it.I went to this film, because I thought Cameron Diaz could make it good.Wow, was I wrong. Ms. Diaz' acting is as bad as the rest of the film. She is a very good looking lady, but her acting is really poor and thatis exemplified in this film. The script is really bad. The directing is really bad. The acting isreally bad by all actors. This film has no redeeming qualities, unlessone wants to simply see Ms. Diaz display her body. She does do that.Warning - There is pornography (not by Cameron Diaz) in this film. Ididn't check the rating before seeing it, but the porno is there. Onewonders why producers, directors and writers put that stuff in theirfilms. Here it just further degrades an already really lousy film.

Seriously?
Is this the best that Cameron Diaz can come up with? I thought she was a better actress than this, but apparently she has decided to ride the suck train all the way to the station. This has got to be one of the most over-hyped movies I have seen in a long time. There is nothing funny about this movie. All the humor derives from her foul mouthed antics. I don't mind swearing, and if inserted correctly can be quite funny. Here it just fell flat. It was as if they had nothing to go with so they said "Well, we'll just have her say something disgusting here." The whole premiss of the movie is that Diaz's character is a money hungry, shallow woman trying to get a perfect body and cruise through life with her rich husband. When he calls off the engagement she is forced to go back to teaching, which she hates. She comes into school hungover and shows a movie on the first day of the year and spirals downward from there. If you find this type of stuff funny, this is the movie for you. It was not for me.

Not Bad
Bad Teacher is one of those films that requires a certain mood forviewing, Luckily I was in the mood. In this raunchy Rom-Com the actingtends to be somewhat lacking however witty dialogue, mostly supplied bythe Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz characters, saved this film from beingan entire flop. The blatant disregard for any kind of class left thismovie raunchier than expected and somewhat distasteful. However whenthe awkward moments passed and the viewer wasn't constantly hating theprissy teacher Miss Squirrel for her annoyingly upbeat can-do attitude, the comedic writing left nothing to be desired in the appropriatemoments albeit far between they were. All in all I feel this film wassimilar to the safety instructions on an aircraft, it's not a repeatbut worth your attention the first time.

its ok
This review is from: Bad Teacher UNRATED (Amazon Instant Video) it isn't like the previews, and I am glad I didn't buy this movie. It was funny at the beginning and the ending was alright, but it isn't what I expected. It kindof reminded me of the toothfairy when the character ruin the kid's dreams by giving them bad advice, and crushing their aspirations. Then at the end, the main character gives solid advice and actually help the children or person in need. Amazon has created a monster because I am going to rent, for now on, most to all my movies before buying them. To save some green.

Out of class teacher
"Cameron Diaz plays a bad teacher who doesn't give an 'F'". From thistagline you can already imagine how unscrupulous this teacher may be.She is one of the worst teachers I've ever seen, and that's what makesthis film funny. It's not one of those comedies that you laugh hardlyuntil you're out of breath, but it's an ironic comedy that makes youlaugh once in a while. The biggest thing is that even thought hercharacter would be hateful in real life, the story makes the spectatoractually LIKE her and hate the honest people-- which is too strange tobe true. In the end, we're all hoping that this character gets awaywith "murder". Not that the movie wants to show that you should steal, lie and cheat to do well in life; the story is meant only to be funnyand entertain the spectator-- and it DOES. My only complaint is withJustin Timberlake; as always, he can't act decently, and his charactercould be played by anyone else-- more talented, of course. All in all, this is a modern and sometimes cheap comedy that you will probablyenjoy.

Good solid comedy
I know some people say it was short on laughs... But Bad teacher hasmany subtle comedy jokes through out the movie. While we weren't institches, crying from how hilarious it was... My hubby and I werechuckling throughout the movie. The movie kept us both engaged andinterested in the characters as well as the story line. I wouldrecommend this movie to anyone i know as I don't think they will bedisappointed. I would say it is along the lines of 40 year old virgin,a film I felt was also a solid comedy. I would even say it had morehumor than that film and was a tad bit more light hearted. Theactors/actresses did a marvelous job at delivering.

A good Rotten Apple
There will be those who watch Jake Kasdan's "Bad Teacher" andautomatically think back to the cult classic Billy BobThornton-starring, Terry Zwigoff-directed comedy "Bad Santa" (2003) andthink that the two movies are somewhat similar: Both pictures centeraround a drug-abusing, alcohol-swilling "protagonist" who doesn't givean "F" about anything but abusing drugs and swilling alcohol, yetsomehow by the end of the story is forced to change their ways... justa little bit."Bad Teacher" is a rotten apple of a dark comedy about a Bad Teacher,Elizabeth Halsey (Cameron Diaz), whose gold-digging ways are exposed byher fiancé at the beginning of the movie and left with little recourse, she is forced to return to her much-hated job as a middle schoolteacher at John Adams Middle School (JAMS). On her first day back, shemakes the acquaintance of the geeky new substitute teacher ScottDelacorte (Justin Timberlake), who also happens to be heir to a watchfortune; he also happens to like women with big boobs. So takingadvantage of this fact to get him to become her new sugar daddy andconcocting a scheme to get a $5700 bonus for getting the higheststandardized test grades, she'll then use the money she earns from thatto get breast implants. And she must also fend off the romanticadvances of pot-smoking gym teacher Russell Gettis (Jason Segel) and acaring goody-good rival named Amy Squirrel (Lucy Punch). This is not a bad film. Some thought "Bad Santa" would scare peoplebecause little kids would go into it thinking it was a new Christmasmovie about Santa Claus (and we all know how well that turned out). Some of the humor is very dark and very crude (and sometimes forced),but I welcome it as a change to the usual run-of-the-mill "lightcomedy" being pushed upon us week after week. I laughed at many of thejokes here, and maybe some people have difficulty finding this sort ofdark, crude humor funny. Some of the sub-plots involving a bulliedunpopular kid and his crush on a pretty classmate are fairlyunderwhelming. On a more positive note, some of the characters are pretty colorful.Diaz is still looking great (I have to fake it here because I justcan't get into blondes), but she relishes her role as a Bad Teacherwith pill-popping, pot-smoking, alcohol-swilling pizazz. She shows upto work hung-over, and spends her nights hanging out at bars trying tohook up with any rich guy willing to take a chance with a gold-diggingmiddle school teacher. I think it's a welcome change from her usuallight-hearted comedic fare. In a nutshell, she gives the film's bestperformance.Surprisingly, Justin Timberlake, I think, continues to grow as aperformer, especially after his well-received roles in past movies suchas "Alpha Dog" (2006), and "The Social Network" (2010). While his workis not "great" here, it is at least showing that he is indeed capableof giving solid performances if given the right material. Phyllis Smithis also hilarious as their slightly neurotic fellow co-worker LynnDavies. Segel probably gives the film's most grounded and realisticperformance as the gym teacher who is only concerned with simply havingfun, even though by his own admission he doesn't have a whole lot tohave fun with."Bad Teacher" is a rotten apple that gets a "B+" for effort.8/10

Surreal bad cinema
It is said that for humor to work, it must contain an element of truth.I work at a school similar to the one in the film, and it's obvious thewriters never spent time in a secondary school as anything other thanmediocre students. They know nothing of teacher characters or how theyinteract with students or each other, unless they think the scandalousheadlines of child abuse and drug usage are the norm. Perhpaps that iswhat the writers were thinking while hoping everyone else was on thesame soiled page.I found myself questioning why I found this film to be so unfunny andoffensive while I quite enjoy raunchy comedic exercises like Get Him tothe Greek and Celebrity Roasts. First, the latter don't involvechildren. Second, there is actual truth-wrapped-in-humor, not insultingthe intelligence and often catching the viewer by surprise. This filmwas more than predictable; if you can't write a screenplay withoutdepending so heavily on profanity, sexual situations, and drug use, then you can't write a screenplay.

This film could have been called BAD anything, because it was just a BAD movie
I love raunchy movies as much as the next guy. But this movie is far from that, it's just mean spirited. Cameron Diaz plays one of the most hate-able characters I've ever seen as the main leading role. Not someone that you love to hate (ex. Sue Sylvester, Simon Cowell), but instead someone you want to hate, and wish the worst possible outcome for. She is a home wrecker, a liar, and a blackmailer. Her pessimism towards a little boy is particularly unsettling. She shatters the hopes and dreams of one of her 6th grade students by telling him that he will never be able to get a girl to like him, because he isn't good enough. And she also ruins the life and career of another, very like-able teacher. The overall "moral" of the movie is that it does not matter matter if you have big boobs or not. You can get everything you want by being a nasty, manipulating, gold-digging whore. There is no way possible way to spoil anything because the movie spoils itself within the first ten minutes. It is saturated with negativity, and tasteless humor. The film has the most unrealistic, hard to imagine plot.I'm giving it two stars because there are some lol moments in the film, but it gives off an overall bad vibe, and sends a horrible message. If you are looking for a just desserts film where the underdog triumphs, and the bad teacher learns from her mistakes, you wont find it here. And as far as the "unrated version" goes, there is ZERO nudity in this film. Just a whole bunch of overused profanities. And newsflash, a teacher smoking pot is not funny.

One of the worst movies I have ever seen
We watched the theatrical version which is on the same DVD as the unrated version. This movie is awful! So sorry I wasted my time. Like others have said, the trailer was the best part of the movie.

Great Teacher.
I really liked this film. Yes I know it was a 15 but I was surprised athow many sex references there were. Some bits were a little bit awkwardas I was with my dad... I thought that Cameron Diaz was perfect for therole. I also thought that Justin Timberlake did a very good job as didJason Segel (his character was my favourite.) Another thing I thoughtwas good was how they built up the characters. I would say that it hada really funny story-line and as I said some very good actors. It wasmy type of humour so I found it very funny, but others might not.Overall I would say that Bad Teacher is a hilarious film, but I'd stayaway if you don't like sex jokes. I would rate it 8.5/10 and say thatit is suitable for anyone 14-15+.

Complete Waste of Time
If I could have given zero stars I would have. This movie is absolutelynot worth watching. The only remotely good thing is Jason Segel but hisrole was so marginal, he couldn't help anything. The story is completely predictable with no lessons to be learned fromit. There is no witty dialogue and not a single scene which would makeyou laugh like you should when watching a comedy. Timberlake's role issupposed to be dorky or something but if you've seen him on SNL, thisone does not live up to your expectations. The dry hump scene is noteven embarrassing funny but utterly lame. The only twist in the story is so expected and poorly executed, it'sjust another super lame scene. If seeing Cameron Diaz washing cars in Daisy Dukes for about fiveminutes is your thing watch it. Otherwise, stay away from it. Thismovie seriously sucked.

More Hollywood romantic clichd crap!
I'm sick of respected production companies handing out money to keepmaking crap like this.I knew how this would end just from the poster, in fact, just tell meit's a romantic comedy and I can tell you how it will end...You have your central character, usually a Woman looking for love. Shemeets someone, they get along, they split up, they get back together, happy ending! It's been done thousands of times before! Alright this movie didn'tfollow that EXACT formula, but it's the same predictable crap!If I were a director commissioned to make a big budget romantic comedyor kids film I'd turn the movie industry upside down:Cameron Diaz goes to get her man, they kiss (cue the romantic music),but then skip forward a few months to an image of Cameron Diaz in abasement being tortured. Turns out Jason Segel was a psychopath allalong! Nobody would be expecting that. The end of E.T! He waddles onto the space ship, there's a tearfulgoodbye and the spaceship takes off leaving a beautiful rainbow as itrockets into the sky... only to crash to the ground in a massiveexplosion seconds later. Cue the end credits! But seriously. This movie was funny and I did laugh out loud a fewtimes, as far as romantic comedies go I can't criticise the acting, butwhat I do criticise is that we have seen this a thousand times before. It angers me to see the budget commissioned for this film when it couldhave been spent on something original and new.Let's face it, A-list actors do these kind of movies for the money, andthe production companies commission them because it's just an easy wayof dressing up something we've all seen a thousand times before to makea sweet profit. It's lazy.Yes the film made me laugh quite a few times, which is why I'm givingit 2 stars, but on principle I'm giving a low rating because it'sessentially just recycled generic crap we've all seen before!

Surprisingly good.
This movie received bad grades from critics all around the web, so Iwent in with very low expectations. This movie is very amusing it'swhole run, unlike recent comedies that are just plain boring in betweenthe jokes. The actors did a good job, and although you can't reallyassociate with any of the characters other than the gym teacher, playedby Jason Segel, you will understand their motivations and won't bescreaming at the TV about how stupid they are and why didn't they dosomething else.If you like any of the actors in it, or are just curious about theschool setting (which works great) go see it.

Pretty funny film
Cameron Diaz hauls out her comedic chops in this pretty funny film. While she may be no Kristen Wiig or Tina Fey, she's a pretty good substitute for physical comedy. And come on, she's hot! Although not really a romantic comedy, it leans in that direction. Unfortunately Jason Segel just kind of stands around in the background. Justin Timberlake plays against type as an agreeable dweeb whose romance with Elizabeth (Diaz) is limited to dry humping in a hotel room. Lucy Punch as fellow teacher Amy Squirrel (yep) and Phyllis Smith (The Office) come off much better. This isn't a great movie but I have to admit I did get my $6 worth of laughs so a mild recommendation.
